thanks rottamies for the quick response and sorting me out, very much appreciatedrottamies wrote:The problem might be that some of your files in the database directory are "read-only". Tons of Player pics, and....
Alright, I downloaded a ton of player and even non-player pics, put them in the correct folder, they'd been working for a while, and now, all of a sudden, every player has the default EHM player/goalie/coach pic...

Hi DucksFan,
Had this happen to me before. I spent ages wondering what it could be before I checked the "preferences" screen (under options) and found I had "profile pictures" unchecked. This might be what's happened to you? Otherwise I'd guess your pictures folder has been moved from its proper place somehow.
getzlaf - the default pics are the greyed silhouettes you find on a profile for a player that doesn't have a picture in the pictures folder. Just search for any obscure player (maybe a regen) and you'll see what I mean.
Hope this helps

Sorry I never responded guys. Here's the deal, it was on in the preferences menu. So I recopied all of the pics into the pictures folder. That didn't work either. I have no idea what's wrong. I do have two different folders for EHM. The default, and once called EHM08 that I installed updated rosters. But even when I did that a while ago, I copied all the pics from and to each folder in both games. I other words, both separate games still have all the same stuff.
edit: Btw, the file path in both is *MAIN FOLDER*\data\pictures\players and *MAIN FOLDER*\data\pictures\nonplayers. All the files are .jpg and there are some called .ehg. Also had custom BG's that stopped working.

Have you downloaded a roster update? There are some that have tweaked player birthdays so that their age is correct to current situation, but their date of birth is incorrect.DucksFan wrote:I think I found the answer. All the pics in my folder are 1 year older than the game.
How do I fix this?
If so, you may either try another database (like the TBL Roster Update 07-08, which has no altered birthdates), or check out This Thread (scroll down to where Daigle makes his appearance).

Hmm I'm sure somebody encountered a similar problem before. It might be worth performing a forum search for something like "player pics". (Edit: I've merged a couple of relevant threads into this thread.)
In EHM, go to the Preferences Screen and make sure that "Profile Pictures" is ticked.
Otherwise, failing that, try this:
Choose on of the player pics and try switching the day and month round in the file name. For example, Aaron_Downey_27_8_1974.jpg to Aaron_Downey_8_27_1974.jpg.
What format are the files? Can you open them in a graphics program to make sure they work? If they're EHG files you can just change the extension to PNG and they'll open up.

Re: Guide: Where to install addons (EHM 2007)
Custom/Updated Databases
As of Patch 3.0.3, you should leave the original EHM database unedited in NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database.
Custom databases can be installed by creating a new sub-folder in NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database. Extract the custom database into this sub-folder. When starting a new game you will be presented with the option to use the default database or your custom database. You may install as many custom databases as you like in seperate sub-folders within NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database.
Saved games are not affected by database updates; a new game must be started in order to see the changes.
Note: There is an element of risk when using modified databases; it could result in your saved game becoming corrupt or other in-game abnormalities. Don't let this put you off but please keep it in mind. If you have any queries about a particular database update or about an error you've encountered using a modified database, please contact the author of the update. You could do this via the TBL Forums or the Forums Private Message feature. Please note that TBL merely hosts these files. The admins are not experts on debugging saved games; we'll leave this up to SI and the update creators. When asking about problems on the TBL Forum please begin by telling us what database you are using; it may not be a game issue but a database one.

The way I've always done packepacks, or any add-on for that matter, is to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder by right-clicking the ZIP and selecting Extract to (name of ZIP file).... Then I manually cut/copy and paste them to where they need to be in the EHM directory. That way, I know they get to to right folder, and not a sub-folder or somewhere else.matt44 wrote:Whats the best way to insall new facepacks?
I've tried downloading them, unzipping/extracting to the players folder and it hasn't worked.
How do you do the copying and pasting way? Do you still have to extract?

Problems with overwriting a picture
I couldn't a tbl card style pic for a player, so I downloaded a pic from the internet to use for now, then I realized he was named different in his pic than he was in the game. SO I copied the new pic into the correct folder, then even restarted the game. and its still the old pic

Help With Lidas DB Add-On
Not new to the game but I just recently joined this community and want to enrich my experience by updating my game. However, I am having a very difficult time loading these add-ons. I have researched over the last couple days the procedure for downloading addons. I think I get where to put them. I'm not exactly sure where the problem lies, however the installer doesn't seem to be working properly for me. The procedure I have used looks something like this. First I went into the forum and found the link to the Lidas download and opened that. Eventually I was lead to the actual installer. This consists of the usual installer with the 3 button options at the bottom; Install, Save, and Cancel. I selected Install and the usual install occured counting from 0% to 100% as usual. However, after it reached 100% it just went right back to the same 3 option screen that I began with. Now when I hit install it begins the install again but quickly cuts off and goes right back to the 3 option screen. I can then hit the install button over and over with the exact same results as explained. I am a novice at computers but I'm pretty sure that after the install 100% you should move to the actual download and have an option of where to put the download (database in this case). Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had similar problems? Any help would be appreciated. I am desperate to improve my game and get back to playing this incredible sim. Thanks in advance. If it helps I have a clean install of EHM 2007 version 3.0.4 installed.

First of all, welcome to TBL Buckeyejeff.
I think that the problem lies with the fact you clicked install, rather than save, if you save the file into (for example) my documents, and then unzip the file into the appropriate folder, depending on the file you are downloading, in this case in the database folder, so it will go into the (in mine and most cases): C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database.
If this doesn't sort it, post again and someone else will have to help.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll try your advice. Will I need a program to be able to unzip the file? I am able to save the documents to my documents. However, when I go to my documents and click on the Lidas icon it gives me the same Install, Save, or Cancel options. Install still does nothing and Save just moves the file somewhere else. Do I need to purchase a product like WinZip or something similar?

Jeff,
Welcome to TBL
.
You'll need WinRAR, get it from http://www.rarlabs.com/rar/wrar380.exe . Then click on the Lidas icon and you'll be able to unzip it to the database folder.
