Lidas would be the one to ask. I know he is really working hard to get at least NHL, AHL and major Euro leagues done by NHL season start. However, I caution against making that a date for release. Lidas is hardworking, but it is hard to predict, as this is just a fun thing for him. He has a real life outside EHM as we all do. So .... I just hope he keeps up the good work.

This job will never be "finished", as there is just too much to do - rosters are constantly changing and players are improving or losing some skill. I havent have very much time to test the database, and my parents are coming to visit me soon, so Ill take two weeks off from updating during that period. My first break since March 1st. To answer and earlier question - 2008 (and 2007) draftees already have their rights assigned to the correct teams.
Since I will not be editing for two weeks, and the hockey seasons are starting all over the world, I have decided to release a first reason in about two weeks from now. I hope you will all test it and give me feedback for further improvements.

Hi...big time fan and can't wait to finally have an update that will help continue this game!
One question (and I apologize if it's been asked...but I didn't see it):
Will we have the option of just selecting the NHL or any other league when we use these rosters? Or will we have to play with all leagues selected? It would be ideal if we could choose individual leagues...for the sake of game speed if nothing else.

Yes you will be able to select which league you want to play, it's a database and not a saved game which I have tried and know exactly what you are referring in terms of speedMooseman0874 wrote:Hi...big time fan and can't wait to finally have an update that will help continue this game!

Oh, and just an advice, you might as well forget about the other pants leagues, and care only for the NHL, especially since you are the ONLY one editing the db, while archibalduk and the likes' sole contribution consists of endlessly repeating it's unlikely that the project will be ready any time soon.
Keep up the good work anyway.

An interesting point of view raylw2. Not sure where it comes from.
Archi has worked a ton on NCAA players so that one day...they may actually be good enough for the NHL.
Several others have worked on leagues such as OHL, QMJHL and WHL and continue to do so.
Yes, Lidas has done a tonne of work on this, and we thank him for it over and over. He is definitely the driving force behind it. There are others, but he is the man. Not sure where any of us from TBL have given any other impression...and if we did it was unintended. Many have helped out, but Lidas is the man. No question.. When he can...he will release version 1. Awesome news...not sure what the rest of your point is about. We don't need any silly battles about release or who put work in. Lidas will give the credit to who helped, but I know for one...I would not care if he did not. He has done insane amounts of work, just by editing birthdays, which may only be 1/2 or less of what he has done so far.
(Just so you know...there is a whole sub forum dedicated to those who have worked on this project...some more than others, but none more than Lidas.)
Admittedly, I have done little work on this, if any at all. I chose to remain out of alot of the research for a variety of reasons, mainly my family time. But that is beside the point. The reason we have been careful giving a date for release of any version of this database is quite simple: we did not want to promise something that would put undue pressure on the amount of work Lidas is doing. Nor did we want to say it will be out on such and such a date, and not have it out.
I am quite sure had we promised a date...people would scream when it did not come through.
Anyway...great thanks to Lidas and to those who have worked with him once again. I look forward to this project. OH...and raylw2....Do you have anything you can do on this for research for us? Would love it if we had more hands on deck. WHL, QMJHL, OHL all need work....

Alright, thanks for the comprehensive answer. I guess my assertion of earlier was unfair. It just seemed puzzling to me, the fact that Lidas has been the only one editing the database for all those months. Is he the only one with an expertise in editing? Anyway, I understand that the research area also requires a lot of work. As for myself, I know how to work with Eastside UK' editors, but I am afraid that's about it.batdad wrote:An interesting point of view raylw2. Not sure where it comes from.

Sorry if I sounded rude earlier, I guess I just miss the game too much...

He is the one with the actual database. He does all the work on it, because well...he has it. Makes it faster than passing it around like was done for the TBL DB's for last season. Others have done some research for it, and Lidas has done a ton of research. Those who have done work have sent it to him in the spreadsheet that was created.
Now...still make no mistake...Lidas has done the bulk of the work, and much of it has been done on his own. For this we all bow. Some of the update work has had help from people here at TBL, and he has also used research for attribute changes from the unfaking crew. So in reality there are a ton of people involved in many different ways. But Lidas is the one making it all happen!
Others have editor ability but with Lidas as the pointman, quarterback, starting pitcher, all star goalie, world record goal scoring forward, Stanley Cup Winning captain, coach, gm, president and owner...not to mention commissioner.
And I did not really think you were being rude, just that you may have misunderstood or not seen some things. Every page of this thread has at least one thank you to Lidas. This one has about 30.

Lidas has a lot more free time than any of us so we left him to carry on with the editing - plus it is his project so he calls the shots. What we wanted to do was support him as much as possible and reduce his workload. We've done this by assembling together a team of users and Admins/Mods to research various leagues so that Lidas can concentrate more on the editing and less on the research. For example, I researched the NCAA which covered 57 teams and approx 1600 players. This involved finding where everyone moved to and creating new players (with all of the correct details, i.e. DOB, nationality, birth city, position, current ability, etc). There are a lot of other users who have done similar research for this project. Thus it has been a team effort to help Lidas release as good an update as possible. It's a big task and it will take several versions before every league has been completely updated.

I have created a couple of European players outside of Sweden. As for Sweden, I have created ALL Jr players (SEL and SAL) that were on the rosters according to eliteprospects (approx 500 new players). The rosters have changed a bit again, and now that the Swedish Jr series has started, Swehockey also have updated rosters. I will fix them if I have the time before I release the first version, to the second version otherwise. I also have a list with 100+ Finnish players, made at TBN by Lazion.Moorne wrote: Will this update include european junior players? For an example, will the Swedish Elitserien teams have their J20-rosters up to date?

Bad news guys...
I've run into some problems, I keep getting this error message:
v3.0.4 ingame_db_setup.cpp 6013
I have a backup from 2 days ago though, but I did alot these last two days, and I hope I dont have to re-do it.
This setback might mean that I will not be able to squeeze in as much as I hoped to, but I will still have something for you in a couple of days.
By the way, does anyone know how to solve the problem? It occurs when I create a new game, halfway through the "initializing leagues" phase. Hard to fix when I cant see the code... Error on line 6013
I created about 100 new players before it happened, but I cant find any errors with them.
