I will have the QMJHL scouting reports db completed by this week-end. It will essentially be the same as the NHL scouting db i did a while back. Some minor tweaks and using the TBL 1.5 roster db are the only differences.

Good stuff Hypnotist. That will help most as the QMJHL i'm sure is not the most popular of leagues. Look forward to checking that out.

I might as well start mine up now. The rest of my day at work isn't looking so busy. It's EHM time! :-D

I'm playing the freeware version at work..just not the new version. It would be a bit of a noticable distraction.

No more than the freeware version. I have EHM running in windowed mode and I have a couple other (work related) windows open. I just flip back and forth. I've been doing it for ages and it's never been a problem. 8-)

I like the simplified rules...last challenge got a little weird with all the various rules (such as the "limbo" time between FA and trade deadline, while trying to meet salary cap  )

this will be different ... I played CHL (in the WHL)only once i think the Camloop Blazers but i gave it up after one season.

Trust me, that's about the only benefit of working where I do. Otherwise, the place is a living hell.

woot....already 3-0, the first two were surprising come from behind wins, and the third was an OT win.

Sadly some of my best players are down in Miramichi because of them being overagers.

I'm not having that good start, I fired all overages except 3 and I've paid for it as it feels like I choose the wrong ones.

I've just finished the preseason and I'm getting ready to move into the regular season. I think I've assembled a decent staff considering the level we're GMing. My team roster is another story! These guys just aren't very talented. I've got a lot of guys playing that really shouldn't even be playing at this level. Their stamina and skating are so bad that I'd be surprised if they could handle a rec league! And if they're not bad on the physical side, they've got NO skills. I'm hoping I'll see a nice improvement in my roster for the second season.

Despite how bad my roster is, I've got 3 guys (Stich, Sauve, and Grant) that were ranked among the league's top defensemen. None of my forwards or goalies ranked.

BTW, does anyone know the minimum age at which players can play in the QMJHL? Will we be able to draft players and have them on the roster the next season?

Yes. Q drafts at 15, they come into the league the next year if ready at 16. So straight from draft to lineup. May be a max on # of 16 year olds though.

Just finishing up preseason myself... went 5-5, all close / OT games - performances up and down, all over the place LOL

Funny - I got Grant and Stich, but also had a top ten in goal, left wing and center - lucky draw? :dunno:

trying to decide if I'm going to try and slow down the Q's scoring with defense, or try to play offense with them...
and which overagers to send down...

from what I can gather (my roster and the Q website (geek, LOL), players need to be 16 to play and are drafted as 15 - 16 year olds - one of my 16-year old players was drafted in the 06 draft

Yeah the top goalie on my top was int top 10, and I know Stich and Grant were in the top 10 for D-Man, I can't rememebr if Sauve was or not.

I also know I had a top 10 prospect as well.

One thing I've realized early on is that I've got to scale back my practice regimens. I used to go 3 intensive and the rest (except goaltending) medium. These guys have no stamina so I've got to make practice easier. Right now I'm trying 3 intensive still but setting the others to light.

Heh. I don't care. They will learn!!! But yeah, won't be so hard on them. I actually started a bit today, and got through camp. Not sure how much I will get done on this with my life schedule, but will try.
