My girlfriend lives near Sheffield and has season tickets for the Steelers. Went up there at the weekend and saw Steelers v Basingstoke. I could go on about how poor Basingstoke were but let's just say that their Man of the Match was their netminder, who let in 6.

Also been to see Chelmsford Chieftains in the ENIHL Division 2 this year. There's a huge difference between this division and the EPIHL that the Chieftains were in last year, perfectly illustrated in the first game of the season against Romford Spitfires. Romford got a penalty shot, the player came down the ice, looking to deke the goalie...and at the crucial time completely missed the puck, letting it slide into the grateful goalie's pads. Mind you, a lot of the players in the division are still pretty young. One of Chelmsford's most experienced players this year is Nathaniel Williams, at the grand old age of...21.

The EIHL have reduced Brad Voth's ban to 7 games, so he only has to sit out another 1 and Steve Thorntons to 4 games

Yeah Basingstoke have started really poorly due to their financial problems before the season, hopefully they can pick up their form(preferably after this sundays game against the Phoenix).

I'm going to see some ENIHL hockey this weekend, me and archi are going to the Invicta - Peterborough game, can't wait!

I wasn't at the game but apparently we (Chieftains) gave Peterborough a run for their money in the cup last week. Lost 6-5 eventually. I saw Peterborough play Whitley Bay Warriors in the ENIHL Playoff Final last year at the EPIHL Finals weekend in Coventry, they've got the Team GB Women's netminder on the roster, Kelly Herring, she didn't play though. It was a pretty vicious game. I'm one of those people who like to fill in the programme with the goals and penalties, and I ran out of room to record the penalties in.

Just as I'm getting into the new season, I now won't be able to get to a game until the end of October. Always the way.

Phoenix have moved quickly to replace Grant Jacobsen with Lucas Burnett from the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL, this will be his 2nd year as a pro and he will play in Sundays game against Basingstoke

Nick - I watched the Panthers v Stingrays game you send down on DVD this morning. What a fantastic game! The first period was so bad tempered - the first fight took place 29 secs into the game! The Panthers played absolutely brilliantly - especially Clarke and Molin. I didn't think they played quite as well as that when we saw them at Manchester the other weekend.

It really irritated me how the commentator kept referring to Molin as David Beckham

Basingstoke lose their 11th game in a row this season and sitting at the bottom of the table on 2 points.
There was a little bit of revenge on Kozak in the Panthers game although he didn´t get into a fight with anyone as someone stepped in before it kicked off. He also got 2 goals as the ´rays ran the Panthers close making it 5-4 in the 3rd before the Panthers put the game to bed by getting 2 late goals.
The caps had a shocking night against the Blaze who opened the scoring after 34 seconds and put 5 goals past Michel Robinson in the first 20 minutes. The Caps still only have 9 import players and haven´t replaced Shawn Germain yet and will be even more shorthanded tonight against the Vipers as Doug Christiansen picked up a groin injury last night.

The Steelers look like they won´t be going through to the last 4 of the Challenge Cup as they have now lost to both Manchester and Belfast and only have 2 points from 3 games, with 1 game remaining. Belfast are practically guaranteed qualification after winning 3 from 3. Edinburgh are on 0 points from 2 games and Newcastle are on 0 points from 1 game. Manchester are looking good for qualification on 4 points from 3 games.

I think it´s definitely between the Panthers & Belfast for the league, Belfast look even better than Nottingham :-o
I´ve not seen Coventry yet however there´s been some doubts surrounding their defence following the loss of the leagues best netminder in Trevor Koenig and the best defenceman in Neal Martin. However Paul Thompson is the bst league in the coach so I wouldn´t write them off just yet. Sheffield look off the pace as do Cardiff so I think it´ll be between those 3 for the top places

I've just started (another) game in EHM with the Edinburgh Capitals. It seems they lost 1-11 just now to Coventry. Does this mean I've picked the crappiest team in the EIHL? :-D

Yup they're certainly underdogs. They had a good start to the season but have really dipped in performance now.

Coach Ryan Aldridge resigns from Basingstoke after 12 straight losses in the league.
Something's not right in Basingstoke, a lot of stuff going on off the ice had distracted him, including rumours of players not getting paid...

Basingstoke's players have all been paid up to date, apparently it's only equipment costs that they haven't been paid for which is a little bit better.
They have appointed Eric Braff as Player Coach with Greg Chambers and Jeremy Cornish as assistants

Went to the game last night, Phoenix were quick out of the traps and scored 4 goals in the first 20 minutes including 3 in a 90 second period which really knocked the stuffing out of the Caps. David Beauregard scored a hattrick in 11 minutes as the Phoenix took 20 shots on Michel Robinson in the first period.

In the second Manchester definitely took their foot off the pedal a bit as the Caps came out strongly and they scored 2 goals in the first 7 minutes. However they never looked liek they could overturn a 4 goal deficit and Lucas Burnett got his 1st goal since joining the Phoenix with a cracking wristshot that went over Robinsons shoulder.

Both teams coserved energy in the 3rd period and Edinburgh were unlucky not to score after a bit of a scramble in front of the Phoenix net before Manchester went up the other end and Luke Fulghum deservedly got a goal.

Beauregard looks a very good sniper and now has 14 goals in 12 games, joint highest in the league. Luke Fulghum is also a very skillful player and his skill to setup Beauregard was awesome turned the defender inside out!
There was also a Bagpipe band playing before the game and during the intervals which was pretty cool and best of all I won a free Pizza!! :-D

Caps need to get some replacement players in and soon, Horne has missed the past few weeks so they've been double shifting all of their defencemen as their no.1 guy Germain left early on in the season. They've signed Ryan Johnson from Sheffield Scimitars on a trial basis but really need a new import no.1 d-man to protect Robinson in net.

A great start to the weekend for the Phoenix who put 4 past Nottingham including a Tony Hand hattrick! 2 of the goals were shorthanded as well and Murphy saved 40 shots in the game. This puts us 5 points behind the top team with 3 games in hand!

Belfast winning against Newcastle means the Phoenix are also guaranteed a semi final in the Challenge Cup, bring on Edinburgh tonight!
