rubbish...Veysey sucks in mine. Not even gonna make the team in year 2. Wish I had a corrupted game...then maybe he would have been good. FGC/KGC are barely 2nd/3rd liners in what I have.

That being said...

Stich, Grant, Sauve, McNeil, Macheachern are all strong. Block not great but good, and I added Lund...so well..my D-core is stacked!!!

Sparling is my top forward. Although Voracek and my first round pick (6th overall thanks to Patty Roy having a naff team and a naff son (who they released outright) finished near the bottom!!)

MaClellan never played a game for me, and I think Bouchard got one. Marchand is decent but highly highly inconsistent. 10-5-8-5-6-8 are his usual ways to go with odd streaks of 6-5-6-5-sit out-5-6-6-sit out-9-4-6-10....Ugh

Neil never played. Snow got in and out. Randomness is fun

Randomness IS fun, love it. Season 1 is finished and PEI knocked me out of the first round in 7. The usuals were good (Joyal, Sparling, Grant, etc) but FGC and Bouchard stank it up. I eventually had to knock FGC down to the 4th line; 7 goals is not exactly what I expected from him. How did everyone's 11.1 NHL Draft go? I'm waiting on mine ... somehow Leduc is rated 170 by ISS even though he played in Miramichi all year.

Draft was good.

Grant 16th, Lund 50, Stich fell all the way from 75th or so ranking to 163rd. Noone else was ranked. Leduc sucks in my game.

voracek is already on 4 NHL teams want lists for next season.

Oh, and ...FGC got offered a contract from Charlotte Checkers before my camp even started for year 2. GO GO GO. No decision on 20 year olds then. :-D

So my first draft.

6 Travis Randell RW/LW. All my scouts agree is a stud.
18 JC Bachelet G---I know maybe a bad pick, but gotta have a goalie for the future. Betting I don't get Bernier back, and Fullerton is an overager.
35 Kirk Sinclair C--Looks like Randell's center in 2 years. A stud. and 6'1 220.
67 Colton Dempsey RD--Big husge 3-4 dman.
90 Kris Roberge LW/RW SMaller speedy winger. 1/2 line.

Many of the rest are just gambles. I took 3 or 4 college bound guys, another Goalie, and a 6'5 225 lb center just for fun. His agression is 17 and strength 16. Everything else sucks!!!

I've just finished the regular season. Now to move on to the playoffs. I really wish I had more time to play. I'm progressing so slowly this time around.

I have been lucky this week and able to get alot done.

So Season 2 Preview...Sea Dogs were #1. WOW! But the issue here...#2 Halifax, #4 Moncton, #6 St. Johns....um yeah all in my division. Yikes.

After training camp I have 6 rookies, including 3 16 year olds on the team.

I signed 2 UFA's in the off season, 1 did not make the team...oops. The other is a decent LD.

I had 4 of the top 10 defencemen in the Q---#1 Grant, #2 Lund, #4 Stich, #6 Sauve. Ummm yeah...who needs 5 and 6....

Sparling made 9th at C.

16 year old rookie Travis Randell is the top prospect, and also the #4 RW in the entire league. At 16!! What a draft pick!!!

FGC signed with the stupid ECHL team Charlotte Checkers and is gone! WAHOO!!!

Edit: And the top 3 of those are all off to their NHL camps and miss the first 3 games. Oh well!!!

Your boy Randell is ranked #1 in the Q Draft in my game. There's no chance I'll be landing him!

i just got to the playoffs in my game, got a decent match-up, team with been able to steal games off of a few times. Kinda wish we could have gotten someone else but at least it wasn't the #1 team (who we yet to beat)

I was surprised in my game that by the end i actually had Luc Melanson as my top scorer and most points (33 goals, 56 points) In fact he was AMAZING in the last stretch before the playoffs, gained over 20 points in 18 games :-o

Seems i'm the only one he has been great for :dunno:. Cote also was one of my better defense guys, with a +/- of 22. Even before seeing how they do in the playoffs, i was proud of my kids, i mean they widdled me off all year but then we got to the last game and i looked at the stats for the last stretch and watching those games and i swear it was like the light clicked on and they looked...dare i say....GOOD :-o :-o.

By the way i only played one other challenge before this, but can i say i love this challenge, it has frustrated me at times but it has been just so much fun to play. I mean i live and die with my Yote game, because its the Yotes, but for a team i knew nothing about, St John really has gotten me living and dieing with this team. I can't wait to see how some of the kids grow, and i want to see if Stich gets drafted, how well he will do if he makes it to the NHL.

Lastly, anyone done youth scouting? i noticed some good guys going to be in the draft in 08 and i'm hoping i pick high enough to get them. Not exactly excited about the 07 draft though but my scouts seem to like alot of the kids in it, some of them supposedly 1st line talent (Which i'm still trying to figure out what kid they are looking at)

Yeah, Bernier was sent back season 2 as well, but he has progressed very much since season 1 so I don't think I will have him around for season 3.

Simon Depres 4th overall in the Q draft, and Jaka Ankherst 10th in the CHL draft. I picked up Filatov as my 2nd round pick in case an NHL team decides to send him to his junior squad. Unlikely, but it'd be some sweet. Stich got drafted 19th overall and Grant dropped into the 2nd round (44th) after being ranked as high as 11th on the ISS list. Poor bugger, he'll miss out on millions.

What happens if Filatov gets sent to you. That is three imports. Do we have to release one if it isn't during the trading period?

Can send one to the farm team. But for future junior challenges we should look at

Dealing with the overagers a little better. Should not be able to pick and choose who dresses and who sits so much. For example all 6 could stay on the roster in the game, but only 3 can play any given game. I think we should in future make it so only 3 can be on roster each year. Just like in the real CHL...they have a deadline.

And..we should make sure we don't have 7 imports with 5 in the minors or sitting on the roster again picking and choosing.

For now..use your best judgement on this. I would say think like a real CHL GM...they would never keep around an import they are not using in every game...even if it means going to 1 or 0 imports. They let them go so they can play at home or somewhere else in the CHL. A few teams in the Dub did that this season.

Same for overagers...they keep 3 and the rest get released or traded.

You need to have an Import spot open in order for this to work, unfortunately. So if Filatov gets drafted by Columbus, is signed to an NHL contract, and they decide to send him to Juniors, Columbus would get a message saying "sorry, they already have Stich and so-and-so on their roster". In a nutshell, you can't have three imports so Filatov isn't coming to your team unless you make room for him ahead of time.

Has anyone else had any success with Bret McGinnis in your game? He led the league in goals(42) in mine as a rookie

McGinnis kind of bounced around lines in my game and never found a fixed place. He's do well for a bit if I had him on the 3rd line, so I'd move him up to the 1st or 2nd line and then after 1 or 2 good games, he'd bomb. He ended up with 17G and 16A in 67 games for my team. He was doing pretty well in the playoffs with 6 points in 8 games but then he fractured his shin. He's out for a month or two, I think.

There are a couple guys I wish I had up with my club the whole season but didn't bring them up from the farm until late. Amyot is a guy I would've liked to have seen play for a full season with us. I'm also thinking McNeil should've been playing instead of Cote. I didn't bring Melanson up until later in the season. He would've been much better than Desjardins (who ended up getting sent down).

Well I finally wrapped up my playoffs. I lost in the Q Finals to Lewiston. Took them to game 6 but just couldn't get past them. Oh well! There's always next season. Now I'm looking forward to the draft.

EDIT:

BTW, has anyone used MacEachern on the wing? I had him playing RW since McGinnis got injured and he's been awesome! He doesn't put up huge points but he hits everything in sight!

Hmm...maybe I should try that with him. McGinnis is brutal for me in my game...7-5-6-5-6-5-8-5-5-5-5-5. Whether I discipline him or not. He just not a good player.

Bummer on losing Q finals. But maybe improvement points come your way easier than me.

Melanson is my sniper alot of the time. Randell and that other rookie I have Sinclair my 2nd rounder...are up and down now. Stephen Lund is better than Grant now. By far. But Grant keeps scoring.

Definitely give MacEachern a shot on RW. He started on the 4th line but worked his way up to the 3rd line. He even had a couple games on the 1st or 2nd line. It's just a shame that he can't shoot.

Grant kind of fizzled for me. He just couldn't put together a good bunch of games. I'm hoping he does better next season. Now that I'm out of the playoffs I kind of wish I had made a trade or two to get better for the playoff run. My guys just had nothing left by the time we met Lewiston in the finals.

What about Alex Leduc? Anybody get anything out of him? I am in Season 2 and he was 5.82 last year, couldn't do anything regardless of the line I played him on. For some bizarre reason, he is ranked #20 on the first ISS rankings for the 2008 draft (the Stamkos draft). Really weird. He is 6.67 through 10 games in S2, but he's nowhere near my top C.

I haven't used Leduc at all. He's not even on my farm team. He's still an unsigned prospect. Looking at him now though, I wonder if he would've been a better option than Stoddard or Marchand? I think maybe I could've had Stoddard on my farm team and gone with Leduc for this first season. Oh well!
