I only brought him in because I want Raymond and Hansen to have a chance to develop in Manitoba. I don't care if he puts up 3 ratings...he plays RW on my 4th line... :-D Just a scrub to fill a slot.

........and just to make you aware, on your recommendation, I have traded for Milan Lucic!! lol

I am over the cap so got rid of Ahnelov (LD), Yonkman (RD) & Aslund (LW) who were in the AHL and took up nearly £1m so I have gained a great prospect and taken £500k off the cap. =D>

Having alot of problems getting under the cap so alot of the depth players and long-shot prospects have been traded away for draft pics.

My line up to start the 3rd season is:

Vanek - Jokinen - Doan
Picard - Mueller - Videll*
Fedoruk - Garlock - Parker
Carcillo - Tikhonov - Lisin*

Jovanovski - Morris
Eminger - Bouwmeester
Grossman - Semenov

Bryzgalov
Tellqvist

Can you believe it I couldnt offload Morris to get under the cap!!??!! 30yrs old and on £2million. Had 3 offers which were all very poor.

Picard came in for Pouliott, Bissonette and mid draft pick. Pouliott was on over £1million.

Videll and Lisin will probably rotate a little bit till I find the best line for them. Videll is an all rounder whereas Lisin only has his decent scoring abilities and thought he may to well with the grit of Carcillo and Tikhonov, who won the battle of excelling AHL Centers on my roster to make the step up, so i'll see how he goes.

Turris will stay down in the AHL for one more season before making the step up as he's still only 20.

Finished the 09-10 season strong on the Canucks side, setting team records with 50 wins and 108 points. It was all for not though, as they were upset in five games by 8th seeded Calgary in the opening round of the playoffs.

The top line of Daniel Sedin, Mike Richards, and Nikolai Zherdev combined for 281 points, including 40% of the team's goals. Angelo Esposito and Kenndal McArdle finished second and third in rookie scoring, with Esposito's 51 points two behind Devin Setoguchi's 53 points, and McArdle's 49 points were two behind Esposito. But both Canucks were the only rookies to crack the 20 goal barrier (27 for McArdle, 20 for Esposito) and should be the Calder frontrunners.

My Maple Leafs snuck into the playoffs, stealing the 8th and final seed in the last week of the season. There was almost a Cinderella story in the making, as the Buds took the President's Trophy winning Capitals side to a seventh game before bowing out. Jaromir Jagr and Brendan Morrison led the team in scoring, with 35 and 34 goals respectively. Chris Drury and Mikhail Grabovsky were also solid contributors, adding totals of 25 and 24 goals. Grabovsky was also the only forward to play in all 82 games for the Leafs. But unfortunately, he was the only offensive threat from the left side. This was one of the undoings for Toronto, which will hopefully be dealt with in the offseason.

In goal, Roberto Luongo tied with Olaf Kolzig for the league leading 46 wins. Luongo was fourth in the league in GAA, first in the league for save percentage, the highest overall rating between the pipes, and along with three other goalies shared the shutout crown with six.

Antero Niittymaki was the driving force behind a weaker Toronto side's constant push for a playoff spot, having finished second in the league for GAA, second in save percentage, and was the second highest rated goalie behind only Luongo. I would make a serious push for either goalie to be their respective team's fan choice player of the year, if not a legitimate MVP candidate.

FINAL ROSTERS

Vancouver Canucks

Sedin - Richards - Zherdev
McArdle - Leino - Willsie
Hossa - Esposito - Filewich
Dingman - McClement - Kilger
Carcillo

Ohlund - Martin
Lampman - Novak
Flynn - Roy
Smaby

Luongo - Montoya
Aubin (AHL)

Toronto Maple Leafs

Grabovsky - Morrison - Jagr
Wiemer - Drury - Voutilainen
Rupp - Weiss - Suglobov
Fedoruk - Mark Smith - Samuelsson
Comeau

Kaberle - McCabe
Malek - Michalek
Spiller - Gervais
Ranger

Niitymaki - Caron
Charpentier (AHL)

Heh. I had a good chuckle in my Canuck game.

Mats Sundin: Played his 1200th NHL game in Toronto against the Loafs. Oh, and guess what? 3 goals 2 assists for him in that game as the Canucks beat the Leafs 5-3. I set him on encouraged to get him a fight too in the third, but in never happened. What a return. I can hear the boo birds at ACC.

still plugging away trying to get to the cup in my coyotes game right now. We did pretty good in the play-offs last year, just missing the cup round. let York go after the season because i needed to make room for Muller who tore up the AHL last year, i believe him and Lisin finished first and 2nd in points.

right now the team looks like

Wellwood-Kaig-Doan
Lisin-Muller-Vrbata
Hanzal-Richards-Dingman
Grabvosky-Krysanov-Pandolfo

Mezei-Morris
Vishnevski-Martinek
McKee-Boynton

my D got screwed up a bit thanks to Mativchuk deciding to retire at the beginning of August

Not sure if i should have Hanzal on the 4th line, or really what to do with him. He has the stats to play, but i don't like him as a third line guy however i don't want to get rid of Doan or Vrbata right now, if i move him, i'd probably need to either call up Carcillo, Redenbach or Hamil but all 3 have been making great progress with the time i've been giving them in the AHL. is it worth bringing up guy who are developing right now to play on a 4th line, or should i keep hanzal on the third line instead of being a first line AHL guy?

You would have thought the NHL would have altered the weight given to fan votes for the All-Star Game after the whole Rory Fitzpatrick online voting mess awhile back.

1. Nope. THe more hits the website get, the more the NHL can charge for ads on it. Simple economics.

I've found that I get too enamored with trying to make the young players I draft pan out. too much time gets spent forcing late rounders and young stars into the lineup to try to make something happen.

I also find it very difficult to be a major player in free agency, because I always have young guys in my system who I would like to have fill the open slots. Sometimes it's worked - I sent John Tavares to the AHL for a year at 18/19 (his junior rights had been relinquished) before he hopped into the center slot on Ilya Kovalchuk's line and breezed to the Calder. My second line center (a regen named Ansel Henry) I signed as a 20 year old after two years of college is a major force on my power play.

However, I spent much too much time trying to make Steve Stamkos work (even though I picked him 3rd overall) and another 2008 pick Mike Pelech. Both would do only alright when given playing time, but neither of them ever really stepped up to deserve it.

How does everyone keep their objectivity? Or do i just put too much stock in my own guys and what I think they can do for me?

I was also curious. Does anyone else trade for guys who have a history of killing your team? For example, I traded last season for Tomi Kallio, who in 4 years with the Flyers and Hurricanes always seemed to have multi-point games against me. So, I went out and got him from Phoenix for a 6th rounder, and he registered 29 points in 31 games for me.

No. But that may be because noone kills my team. No kidding. I have done that a couple times, but never with the success you have.

I usually give up on guys after 3 years or so...not even after coaches say they won't be any good do I move them. In my Nucks game Hansen, Raymond and Schneider are going to get every chance they can, even though I bet they never make it as anything.

Grabner on the other hand...not so sure. Edler is already amazing so I don't have to worry. Someone did the right job on him editing his attributes. He is filling a 5 dman role right now, and is projected to move up to 3-4 in two years. Exactly like life.

Hodgson however needs some work.

I would love nothing more than to fill slots with my own groomed talent, but I won't make room for them on potential. With Vancouver, I did keep him on the roster for his first pro year, but I was ready to send him to Manitoba at the first sign that he wasn't ready. But he came out of the gate a stud, so I shipped off Henrik Sedin to guarantee Esposito a scoring line spot at center along with Mike Richards.

In reference to Toronto, I made arguably the biggest free agent signing in the team's history in acquiring Ilya Kovalchuk. He is the threat from the left side that I've been lacking, and is the successor to Jaromir Jagr as the team's biggest star and top clutch performer. The two will either be paired up with Brendan Morrison or Stephen Weiss, as Chris Drury was shipped off to make room on the payroll.

I just hope Logan Couture doesn't flop for me, he's finally coming up this year, after spending a bunch of time in the OHL. Tavares rights were dropped, so he's in the AHL, not enough room for the both of them. Bringing up Ty Wishart to start the season, see how he does (I had to pick him up, he's a hometown boy, which is also why I have Brett McLean :))
Also have the likes of Nick Petrecki and Stephen Lund in the system.
Signed on David Aebisher to share goaltending duties with Konstantin Barulin, while Sexsmith continues in the AHL.

I'll bring you all up to date with my draft history starting with the 2008 Draft

Top 3 picks were as follows:

#1 Jimmy Hayes (Dallas Stars)
#2 Drew Doughty (Phoenix Coyotes)
#3 Vyacheslav Voinov (Colorado Avalanche)

My Picks:

#9 Patrice Cormier C (CAN)
#53 Grant Scott RD/LD (USA)
#63 Michael Cichy LW/C (USA)
#75 Tyler Cuma LD (CAN)
#99 Anton Nekrasov C/LW (EST)
#165 Taylor Ellington RD/LD (CAN)
#189 Cade Fairchild LD/RD (USA)
#202 Brenden Soley LW/C (USA)
#204 Kelsey Tessier LW/RW (CAN)

The 2009 Draft

Top 3 picks:
#1 John Tavares (Blues - ME)
#2 Steve Anthony (Detroit)
#3 Tomas Vincour

The rest of my picks:
#21 Brett Miller RW (CAN)
#28 Ryan Howse LW (CAN)
#32 Marek Kudrna RD (CZE)
#51 Erik Ahola RD (FIN)
#62 Maksim Yakubov LW (RUS)
#64 Riley Boychuk LW (CAN)
#92 Alex Hutchings C (CAN)
#122 Connie Neil LW (CAN)
#131 Eric Lindfors LD (SWE) - Had enough LD, traded for Evander Kane(#147)
#152 Burke Gallimore C (CAN)
#182 Aleksandr Utrobin RD (RUS)
#210 Isaac Quakenbush RW (USA) - Potential 4th liner :) name is funny to me.
I can never seem to draft enough defense.. and theres never any good goalies.

For those interested: Victor Hedman went at #80 to Pittsburgh, who then signed him about 20 days later, a screenshot of his terrible stats:
http://s487.photobucket.com/albums/rr23 ... Hedman.jpg

anyways, anyone ever get any of these players? any successes? Including Tomas Fleischmann, I stole him on an offer sheet, has good speed, and good at getting open, figured he'd be great on the Power Play, since my PP was 28th last season, and my PK was 5th, yet I finished 29th. darn rookie goaltender... hehe.

Dude must have some monster potential that no one else is aware of, because - judging from first glance - his defensive skills suck.

Approaching end of reg season #1 with my Canucks.

Only made one trade deadline deal. Colorado put Ian Laperriere up for grabs, and my RW is thin. I grabbed him for a 6th round pick (dont believe in trading the prospects that I have that noone wants)

Line Combos:

Wellwood (Pyatt)-Sundin-Demitra
D Sedin-H Sedin-Bernier (Pyatt)
Burrows-Kesler-Laperriere(Bernier)
Hordichuck(Wellwood)-Johnson (laperierre)-Oulett(Wilson)

Ohlund-Salo
O'Brien-Edler
Mitchell-Bieksa
Davison

Luongo
Labarbera

Right now, 74 games played. Record 55-5-14. 1st place. Cannot win in OT or shootout it seems. Ugh.

Lots of close game obviously.. 8-14 in OT/SO.

Demitra has 49 goals, Sundin 103 pts, D Sedin 44 goals, Sundin 40 and Bernier 29. These guys apparently pack more punch in EHM than in real life.

Anyway, Edler has to be a leading candidate for Calder Trophy as is top rated Rookie Dman in the league (2nd is O'Brien cause game considers him a rookie too since no histories updated)

Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Kovalchuk just went down for 4 months. Luckily, there were a few quality wingers in the UFA ranks. J.P. Dumont will fill in nicely, I guess, on the second line.

On to the Conference Semi Finals against Kelowna.

Giants Win! 4 games to 0 Again, (8-0-0)

Game 1 4-3 ot
Game 2 7-3
Game 3 6-2
Game 4 7-5 (close one, 5-5 going into final 2 minutes, each of my 5 goals were answered then I scored with 1:20 remaining, and added an empty netter).

Another note: Aleksandr Denezhkin has clinched the #1 Ranking for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. Starting the season at #32, working up to #9 by Mid-Season, and then jumped to #1. With Taylor Hall drooping to #2 and Teemu Pulkkinen falling to #3

Taking on my nemesis from the Regular season the Spokane Chiefs.. they took the season series 2-1-1.

Alright. Conference Finals against the Spokane Chiefs.

Game 1, decent battle.. 1-1 heading into the 3rd. Final Score 5-1 for the Giants
Game 2, Fairly easy win for me, 7-2 at one point, ending 7-4
Game 3, A little more of a fight, won the game 3-1
Game 4, looking for the sweep, and continue my perfect playoffs... denied 2-1
Game 5, At home, for the Presidents Cup birth. End of 1, 0-0. At the end of 2, i'm up 1-0. 3rd period, good battle, I would add 2 late period goals and seal it 3-0

Outscored the Chiefs 19-8

and again, Its a Vancouver and Lethbridge Presidents Cup Final!!

Started a new Coyotes game and am 43 games into season 1.

Alot of players have come in and been sent packing but mainly its youth I have been bringing in, being very careful to keep an eye on the salary cap this time! ](*,) lol

Alot of deadwood has gone but the main changes are as follows:

Out:
Matt Jones
David Hale
Joakim Lindstrom
Michalek
Keith Yandle
Steve Reinprecht
Ken Klee

In:
Mike Komisarek
Dave Scatchard
Adam Mair
Ryan Garlock
Alexi Semenov
RJ Umberger
Milan Lucic
Steve Eminger
Kyle Cuminskey
Svitov * (traded for his rights but he refuses to leave Russia!!! DOH)
Grebeshkov
Brodziak
Danny Syrvet
Dan Collins

My current line up is:

Bryzgalov
Tellqvist

Jovanovski - Komisarek
Eminger - Morris
Grebeshkov - Semenov

Umberger - Jokinen - Lisin
Hanzal - Meuller - Doan
Fedoruk - Scatchard - Mair
Carcillo - Brodziak - Parker/Bellemare (Splitting this role as they are very similar players but Bellemanre needs the experience)

So after 46 games I am 26-18-2 and lying in 7th position in the conference.
