Lidas Rosters 2008/09 - Mistakes/Omissions/Tweaks/Etc

I think the biggest improvement that needs to be made with the young players and prospect ratings update. So many of them, have either low potential who went top 10 in draft or just low ratings with young players who are becoming stars right now.

It's too many to list, I just really HOPE you go through each each team's young players and prospects and do a massive update.

Just a couple players I think could be downgraded and up graded:

Scott Clemmensen (Recent play should earn him a higher rating)
Steve Mason (See Clemmensen)
Wade Redden (downgrade)
Scott Gomez (downgrade)
Mike Smith G TB (This kids a great goalie, should have better ratings.)
Darryl Sydor (A little downgrade on everything, except a slight upgrade on leadership, determination, and influence)
Mike Green D WSH (Better creativity and shot)
Patrice Bergeron (Could have lower ratings)
Marc Savard (A couple tweaks to make him better)
Tim Thomas (Needs a big upgrade, All-Star two years in a row now.)
Mike Ribeiro (Needs a slight upgrade, never seems to produce 60+ pts when he should be in the the 70s or 80s.)
Brad Richards (Needs to be downgraded, still a p/pg player; But not a 100 point scorer like in the game)
Sidney Crosby (Never does well for some reason only puts up 70pts)

Just a couple minor tweaks to make it a little more realistic experience.

Did some tweaking here and there. I'll work more on all players once the season is finished. \ Lidas

The Finnish Suomi Division team D-Kiekko should be called D Team. At the moment irl they play in Mestis and have a farm affiliation with the Finnish SM-Liiga team JYP. You could switch D Team with Salamat (i dont know if this is possible), they play in the Suomi division.

Might not be linked to the database. Try and go on vacation to go around that day. Or it could just be you have an issue with something corrupt

Ok, thanks for the tip I'll try it when I get home.

Thinking about it, it's probably not linked to the DB since I'm probably not the only one up to the 2012 season and other people go past september 5th.

You can remove Forsberg from MoDo if you have put him in there, he's giving up his tries for a comeback for the moment, actually I'm not to shocked over this.

A few random thoughts concerning the Senators, some of which you probably already have;

- Craig Hartsburg fired.
- Cory Clouston brought on as head coach.
- Curtis Hunt now head coach of Binghamton.
- Luke Richardson hired as assistant coach for Ottawa.

- Heatley's speed should be dropped to somewhere around 12. Dude is not fast. His dirtiness should be increased as well. He's a big fan of slashing opposing players.
- Gerber is godawful. Everything should be dropped a little, and his consistency especially should plummet.
- Vermette's faceoff skill should be increased. He's also a natural center, although he has played mostly left wing for quite a while now, so whatever.
- Fisher should have his faceoff skill dropped, and his talent on the wings should be lowered as well. He's just not the same player when he's not at center.
- Brian Elliott's abilities should be upgraded overall. He's been very solid this year, and looks to be a competent #1 in the future.
- Jeff Glass sucks. His attributes right now aren't too far off, but I don't think he should be a -7. Dude is an AHL backup at best.
- Brian Lee should be upgraded a little. He's a fantastic skater, and a good passer. His potential should be improved but his slapshot and strength should be dropped. He has no shot whatsoever, my little sister could beat him up.
- Cody Bass should be improved a little overall. His ceiling is 3rd line center, so not too much, but he's a very solid physical, defensive presence, and he hits hard.
- Ilya Zubov isn't your stereotypical Russian. He backchecks hard, and isn't afraid to use his body. As it is, he's more or less useless in the defensive zone.
- Jesse Winchester needs an upgrade as well. He's a decent bottom 6 forward. His potential isn't huge, but the one thing that stands out is his work along the boards. He fights hard for pucks, and protects them very well. He's also known to stay after practice to work on this with Daniel Alfredsson. I'm give him high determination, work rate, and teamwork, and a decent checking attribute. The rest should be typical for a 4th liner. Also, he should be C/RW.
- Nick Foligno should be improved, but you're on your own for that one. Sometimes he looks like a top 6 forward, sometimes AHL fodder.
- Louie Caporusso should be improved, he's had an amazing year, and is on the long list for the Hobey Baker.
- Likewise, Patrick Weircioch has been amazing, and almost made Team Canada at the U20s this year. He looks to be a helluva puckmover.
- Phillips plays LD, and Volchenkov plays RD.

Anyway, those are just my impressions. I know being more specific with attribute values would probably help more, but I'm hesitant to do that. Every time I edit a database myself, I end up heavily overrating my players, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

with NTDP recently moving from NAHL to USHL was wondering if anyone knew any USHL teams in ehm that have left or folded that i can switch them to NAHL?

I'm sure you've already gotten that Daniel Ryder was released by the Calgary Flames but I just read that he's signed a 25 game tryout contract with the Providence Bruins.

I should start a new game, as it will take a while before the next update is out and now there's a lot of trades so that will also take a while to go through.

The problem with doing an update with all these trades is it puts teams over the cap. Calgary doesn't have the cap room for the players it got over an entire season. The only fit them in for the last 20 games.

On a totally unrealted note, after playing a few games witgh Lidas's rosters. I have found that all of the prospects get dropped by their teams. They are either traded very easily, or simply released. I believe this happens because Lidas has entered their salary as a total including bonuses (so their total cap hit). While this makes sense as this is what their cap hit is now in the leaque. That is now how it was when the AI for the game was programmed. So the game sees Drew Doughty or Luke Schenn getting paid 3mil at 19 in the minors and its totally willing to trade them. For instance, with Drew Doughty I had him when his contract was coming up, and he wouldn't accept anything lower than 5.5 mil at age 20, by that point he still wasn't even ready for the NHL, I just had to trade him, no way I could afford to give him 5.5 Mil. Same seems to happen for a lot of prospects. I routinely see Stamkos, Schenn, Doughty etc. allowed to become UFAs after their first contracts. I think because the AI can't handle thier real salaries we may have to limit their salaries to the "Real" value of 875K.
