Hard to say, really...

Did you go thru this thread and try everything? Have you patched it? Did you try starting from the exe file instead of the shortcut?

:-k

Edit: that actually sounds like the same problem as when you need to run it as admin, but you said you already did that, so I dunno.

ya i have literally tried everyting mentioned in this thread, thats why its pretty frustrating!

its giving me the e license control where it states : "In order to finish initializing...administrator privileges..contact your system admin 5-2"

but like I said even when I do run as admin it still wont open..

I just dont get it..

This may or may not be related to having Vista on my laptop. My problem is that when I edit a database, changing players, etc it works fine. When I go to make a copy of the database that is edited it seems to work just fine but when I run EHM and select the backup database it loads up like the original EHM database.

Note: With any database that I edit or have (Lidas, etc.) if I run EHM as administrator it ALWAYS gives me the original database. This makes me think it has something to do with Vista and copying my edited databases and them not playing as edited.

If you've patched it to 3.0.4 you should be given the chance to pick which database you're going to use, out of those you have put in the database folder.

Well, the "1300x something" matters, because if there's not enough height, it won't work.

OK, I just installed the demo and I am having the error listed below (which was attended to previously in this thread:

"No restrictions - at least one of the days, executions or hours must be restricted
15 "

I tried the "-unlicense" command and it didn't do anything. I don't know yet if I want to purchase the game, so I'd like to just try the demo and see how much I play it first. I made no changes except to update to 3.0.4.

What should I do to be able to play this demo?

EDIT: I re-installed, but didn't install the patch yet and I got into the game. Is this issue related to the patch?

I had the same error once, and found the solution to be faulty hardware. One of my memory combs was corrupt. Removing it, and reinstalling the game resolved the problem.

Might not be the same for you, but you can always try. :dunno:

EDIT: If you are also experiencing other problems, crashes and instability with other programs than EHM, then you might also have faulty memory combs. If there are no other problems, then your solution must be somewhere else.

Don't know why I getting this "error" time after time. The funny thing is that it dosen't make any impacts on the game, it just start save the game to a new file, but it's annoying when I'm on vacation and l leave for like school and one of the popups is showing as it dosen't go away unless I click ok.

Anyway, it's saying something like:
"3.0.4 zip.dir
The game could not be saved"

If I click ok, it dissapear for some time, then it's back again. But it dosen't harm the game at all :P

Hi.

I've recently redownloaded the game, and installed the licence. However, when I go to run the game, it comes up with 'NHL EHM 2007 has stopped working' and won't start.

I'm running Vista Home Premium @ 1400x900 resolution, with Administrator privileges enabled..

Whats causing this problem?

Sorted it out now, it was my firewall stopping the game checking itself on the internet.

My firewall is set to enable the game, but I myself am still having the same trouble.

My misadventures continue. Rather than just re-install the game and the 3.04 patch, I re-installed the game and then all the patches available from SI's website. When trying to open the game, I just get the quick "hourglass" on my mouse icon followed by... nothing. This happens whether I have run the patches first or not.

Using Vista Home Premium, Shaw Secure is my AV with inbound and outbound connections for the game set to "Allowed". I've spent a decent amount of time browsing the search function here, google searches, etc. and am a wee bit stumped. If someone wants to be my Captain Obvious and steer me in the right connection, that'd be pretty sweet.

Please and thank you! :help:

I wonder if you remembered to run the game as administrator: right click on the icon.

That's something you have to click if you want to play the game on Vista.

Shoot, forgot to add that into my problem description. If I don't run as administrator, I get the popup that I need to do so in order to complete the install. It is when I do run as administrator that nothing happens. Sorry, next time I will proof read before I post. I also have alternated compatibility between Windows XP service pack 2 and leaving it just as is, with the same result either way.

Are you able to run the game after the fresh install but before patching? Install the game, try to run it, patch, run it, and so on. Have you tried to "update" from within the game rather than running the actual patch files?

If it's not admin privileges then it sounds like some sort of software is conflicting with it. Try disabling any anti-virus or firewall software and see if it'll run then.

By the way, are you running 32 bit or 64 bit Vista?

Unfortunately, I am not able to run it after either of a fresh install or after any of the individual patches.

I am running 32 bit Vista. I can have no AV software running at all, with Windows Firewall turned off, and get the same sad results. I have also mingled with User Account Control settings.

Hmmm that's a bit of a pickle. When it comes to not being able to run software on Windows Vista, only three possible sources of the problem come to mind:

1) Administrator privileges and/or User Account Control
2) A software conflict - this is usually anti-virus software and/or a firewall but could be anything else which runs in the background on your computer.
3) Trying to run 32 bit software on a 64 bit version of Vista.

Do you have .Net Framework version 1 and/or 2 installed? This is available free as a Windows Update or via Microsoft.com. I assume you have the latest version of DirectX installed (this comes as part of Vista).

Did you install the game by running the install file as Administrator?

After installing the game as administrator, edit the shortcut to EHM so it says:

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Games\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\ehm2007.exe" -small_screen -windowed
Obviously, change the file path to wherever you installed EHM. Also set the shortcut to run as administrator. Set your Windows screen resolution to something larger than 1024x768 and then try running the shortcut.

If that doesn't work then change the shortcut's compatibility to Windows XP.

I guess if that doesn't work, you could try installing the game to either C:\EHM 2007\ or on another drive letter. Perhaps it's a permissions issue with C:\Program Files\?

This is stumping me so I'm just throwing out as many ideas to try as possible. :dunno:

I have framework 3.5, and unfortunately cycling through all of these solutions nets the same result. The frustrating part is that I am sure I am missing something somewhere along the line. ](*,)

Urgh I really don't know what else to suggest. ](*,)

Only other thing I can think of is if there is some sort of issue with the e-License control panel. I can't remember how exactly it works as I'm now in Linux.

Other than that I wonder if there's something like a dll missing. :dunno:

I've never encountered any dll-related problems without an error message though. :-k
Start task manager and shut down all processes except for those that are really needed to keep the PC running maybe :dunno:

I'll see what I can do. I have zero experience with shutting down processes, so I will take some time and make sure I'm only shutting down what's necessary. I'll post the results, I will not go quietly into the night about this
