The ultimate EHM makeover

Post by BlackCats101 »

Can you guys give a recommended set of upgrades for the game (graphics, patches etc). It would be really useful for fellow newcomers as well. Any help appreciated.

Start with downloading all of the site's facepacks, they're great.

Kidhanders unfake rosters (version one), Minstrel skin (let your own taste decide which), and of course the editor.

Beside my skins projects my project that I think adds the most to the game are the News Jerseys. They are larger versions of the jersey avatars people are using here. Every time there is team related news it will then show the team's jersey. I currently have NHL which includes numerous international team jerseys, AHL, ECHL and EIHL sets available; they are in the 'News Graphics' section.

Second to that I think the rinks files are nice to have. They'll give you the home team's logo at center ice in boxscores view and if you're coach games on the game view screens. We have a lot of leagues covered and they are in the self-explanitory 'Rinks' section 8-)

Right. I reckon I'll get the 'Smetana' update, and then think about the graphical updates. I might stick with the original skins for now.

First: make a copy of your database folder in case you need/want to go back to it. Then I believe that the roster update projects replace entirely the 'database' folder:

EHM folder/data/database

Anything past that you'll have to ask one of the roster update guys.

When you make a back-up of the original database, where have you chosen to store it? And can you just copy it back into the game if there are any problems?

You can just make a copy of it and store it anywhere outside of your EHM folder (so it doesn't conflict with the new database). Then youl'l have a fresh copy to replace any of the others with if you have problems without having to reinstall.

This is getting ridiculous now-I downloaded the roster, but whenever I press 'start new game' I get an error message saying 'v2.0 setup_screens.cpp 1054' and you have to exit the game.

I got past that problem, but now I have all those 'index' errors about not being able to find such and such..

Right, to help sort this out once and for all....
If any of you have the Smetana or Unfake files, could you describe to me exactly where you extracted it to. I also need to know how the database appears on your game. Did you let the new db files replace all of the old ones? When I do this, I get messages from the game telling me It cannot find obscure Russian leagues and obscure season awards. This is presumably because in removing the original db I have also removed these. If this is the case, it means that the Smetana/Unfake files are incompatible with my version of the game (2.0). Which basically means I'm screwed....:(

I'm off to play FM. EHM can go back on the shelf for now.

Err... Do you have the latest offcial patch?

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/index.php ... lect&id=19

All those index options is definatley (100% positive) what you get when you update the database without updateing the .exe

Before you apply any database changes (ie Unfakeing), you have to first apply the offcial patch made by the developers of the game. The link to said patch is in my previous post.

The reason you got all those errors is because you didn't do that.

At last!!! I got it working with Smetana rosters and no dreaded 'Index' errors. It was the patch-it had not been set up properly. Thank you all of you who helped-a week after buying it i can finally enjoy the game...PHEW! :) :)

Aha! That will be why Unfake rosters didn't work! You need version 2.1.2 (i.e. the latest patch installed) in order for the rosters to work ;)
