He's a skilled D-man. Made close to 20 points per season for HIFK.
He was third in points for defencemen in the sm-liiga regular season (8+26=34). He's actually pretty good, quite offensive but plays a nice defensive game. Got a lot of icetime last season in HIFK. He's got a pretty good shot, scored four of his eight goals on the power play last season.
That said, i was still a bit surprised to see him get a NHL-contract. Hopefully he'll do well.

Thank you!
I doubt he'll make the team right away, but you never know

I know the post above is a bit old, but think i could give some input to this matter aswel. He plays well when he's interested in playing. He has a pretty good skill set, but often looks lazy on the ice. Too bad he makes few bad mistakes once or twice in every game he plays. All in all, a decent/good in the offensive end depending on the day, and bad/very bad at the defencive end. Won't be missed in IFK.
I basically don't follow Swedish hockey for various reasons, but today I just happened to stumble across something interesting. I noticed that 19-year-old Marcus Krüger of Djurgården is second in the league in scoring, with 12 points in 7 games.
To further heighten my interest I noticed that he was drafted in the 5th round of this summers draft by the Blackhawks.
So my questions to the guys on here with more knowledge of Elitserien is:
A: Is this guy the really as good as his point production suggests?
B: Do you have any ideas about why he just started scoring alot just out of the blue?
And C: Do you think the Blackhawks might have found a "Zetterberg" in Krüger?
The table looks very interesting so far. I might say that someone who hasn't followed SM-Liiga for a few years might think that the table is turned upside down. Lukko has made the all time best start for the season, collecting atleast one point in each of their 12 games, of which they have won 10. Also TPS is playing a huge season. To be honest, I never expected TPS to play aswel as they have so far.
But what warms me the most is that HIFK is playing the best hockey for a long long time. And Mikael Granlund, this kid is amazing. The guy is 17 years old, and already has 12 points (3+9) in 12 games. He's 17 for pete's sake! Also the two other players in the so called "junior line", Ramstedt and Ahtola are playing a big season so far. Ahtola just moved to the first place in the scored goals table with 10, and his first ever hat trick in the league. He has 4 assists as well, which means he has already broken his previous record of 11 points for the whole season. Also Ramstedt is playing great and has 3+6 in 12 games so far. First line hasn't been as good as expected, mostly due to Haataja being injured at the moment.
Bottom of the table looks interesting aswel, JYP, the reigning champion is dead last with only 8 points, Jokerit is 13th with 11 points, followed by blues (11 points).
Earlier this season he scored 12 points in 7 games in AHL, so he might be a solid Elitserien player. But earlier season he hasn't been that good, I guess he is more of a third liner or something. And he is good in box play and penalty killing.
Might be a good signing for Djurgården, as if they use him a lot in BP he doesn't have to skate so much.
Yeah, this is great, for MoDo, not for any of the other teams.
If MoDo is lucky they will be able to run of the greatest swedish junior lines, but in a several years older version.
A line consisting of Näslund-Sundström-Forsberg.
This will probably fill the arenas when MoDo plays and it's always good if more people come and watch hockey.
