Losing ag austria: where was the offense? First time since 1935 we lost ag austria in worldcup =D>

Leo Komarov was good at his role yesterday. And Ruutu made two shoot-out goals.

As I stated before, I don't like Ruutu. But yesterday, when he played against Canada, it was nice to watch him. Now I understand the people who like him, esp. Tasku ;)
And when he will play against CZE, I'm gonna hate him again :ha!:

As Jagr said: He's the type of player you like having in your team, but not someone you like to play against. ;)

I hope that Sweden doesn't have to meet him, if we had Douglas Mourray sure, but not now.

You wish! :-D

If we are struggling we are going to do a monster comeback as we did in the game against USA. :-p

I think Russia is going to win this whole trash this year. At finals, they beat Canada 5-2. And in bronze medal games, Finland wins Sweden 34-2, and Jarkko Immonen makes 10+13 in that game... Also, Pihlman beats the sh*t out from Linus Omark :D.

Ps. I don´t want to offend anyone, i´m just having my own fun :D.

I'd rather win the bronze than lose another gold.

34-2. Not bad. Even the Swedes can't make a comeback from those numbers! :-D

Good game between Finland-USA tonight.

Both team played good most of the game, but Finland made some mistakes and USA was able to get a lead with 3-1, but Hyvönen scored 3-2 and it was close once again.

And Russia just won against Belarus with 4-3.

Once again we had control of the game, but they scored the goals. 50 shots on Esche.

Finland has always had a good, hard working team that play well together, but we're lacking goal scoring talent. Although I have to say our shots were way better this year than on earlier competitions, when similar games have been seen. This time it was Esche who stopped us, not bad shooting aim.

Also, our defense was quite weak. USA was able to capitalize on their chances.

Oh well.... next year... :dunno:

USA's first goal was very nice by Brown, sure they were 5 on 3, but the passing before it was very nice and made him very open in front of goal.

I think the referee was correct when he allowed Hyvönen's goal, as Esche didn't do anything to show that the puck hit his mask. Instead he played on as if nothing happened.

According to some expert in the Finnish studio on intermission, the ref did the right thing allowing the game to go on. You're not supposed to stop the game if there's a scoring chance and if the goalie's work is not clearly hindered or he's not injured by the puck.

Apparantly the rule has changed from the original, where the game would always be stopped if the puck hits the mask.

To clarify: If there's a scoring chance and the goalie is not disturbed by the puck hitting his telephone, then the game is allowed to continue.

If no scoring chance, then the normal rule applies and the game is whistled to a halt.

Atleast that's how I understood it.

The swedish experts thought the original rule still was applied. But they also said that the referee did the right thing as Esche's work obviously wasn't hindered by it.

And they also talked about a rule where Finland could have just stop wanting to play and by that earn a extre 30 second timeout. But that rule is so unknown that almost no coaches know about it. :-D

Anyone see any of the games Gustavsson played in net for Sweden? Saw his stats (not great), but stats can lie...
Should the Leafs still pursue this guy?

In my opinion he has been good, his stats are dragged down by the game against either USA or Russia, don't remember which games he has played, but I can remember that he has played fairly well in his games. Just had bad luck with a awful defence, which is much better now.

I didn't knew that one player could make such a impact on a team like Johnny Oduya did when he arrived, before him we had two games where we allowed 5 or 6 goals, won 6-5 against USA in OT and lost against Russia with 5-6, then we won pretty easy both against Switzerland and France. Sure, those teams isn't as good as USA and Russia, but the Swedish defence was much better which helps the goalies very much.

The swedish hosts and experts just announced where the world championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014 will be hosted.

2012: Finland and Sweden co-hosts
2013: Sweden and Finland co-hosts
2014: Belarus

I was surprised when they said that Finland and Sweden are going to co-host both 2012 and 2013.

I think it was originally supposed to be 2012: Finland, 2013: Sweden but the countries decided to co host both competitions so that our own teams could play home.

Good idea me thinks!

They didn't told those details, but I hope that both our teams are going to the final in both championships! :-D
