Personal Orders
Goalies: set goalies on defensive mentality with safe passing.
D-Men: You might wanna try set your offensive D-Men on Normal mentality and Normal passing and defensive d-men on defensive mentality with safe passing.
Forwards: You might want to click the join rush order on your wingers at least.
These personal orders are down to you whether you use or not. It depends what kind of players you have at your disposal.
On a sidenote, using tactics like these that are not custom-built for your team and players will take away some aspects of the game. Even if they do work, I discovered that you will not learn the strengths of your team. You will be a lot better team if you manage to work out who's good at what and tune your tactics around this.

As this is a thread about a particular tactic (rather than tactics more generally), I think it's fair to keep a thread devoted to one particular tactic.joehelmer wrote:This one should have been in the "Official Tactics Thread", when you wrote this it was just below this, at the top of the non-sticked threads, you shouldn't have been able to miss it.
How does this tactic perform in EHM 07? I know it performed well in '05 (or was it '04?) but that certainly doesn't mean it'll work with EHM 07's updated game engine.

I had every intention to post this in that particular 'Tactics' thread. Unfortunately I made the mistake of pressing the wrong button. As I am not able to delete threads or posts, I can't do anything about it myself.
Anyway...
Recently I have been managing the OHL team London Knights. With the players I have playing there, I have been trying the Slapshot Tactic for a year and have had very mixed results; from winning 5-1 to losing 2-6 against the same team. Naturally the obvious youth of the team plays a part there.
In the end I won the conference but was defeated in the semi-final of the playoff in game 7. I have noticed that I am able to figure out how to train youngster to their potential, but still unable to get the most out of the team on gameday, even with allegedly world beating tactics. I'll keep trying, but I am getting the impression that the young players are just not good enough yet to play and win consistently with this tactic.

When I first started playing, I found that the Slapshot tactic was a good place to start and then from there you make little changes, see how it works for you, and then make more changes. It's a starting point and you can build from there. Just remember, if you make any changes to it, give it a good 5 or 6 games before changing again. Your players have to "learn" the new tactic.

I was the one that initially asked about this tactic and thanks for posting it again.
I was able to find a copy of it and gave it a shot with my Leafs team. It was very mediocre until i made some changes recommended by the guys in the Tactics thread. The changes advised were made to my PK unit and i started dominating to the point where i am going to the finals .
Tavares scored 102 in his first season playing 2nd line center and first line PK duties while Havlat lead the NHL in scoring with 120 so i do recommend it but additional tweaking is definitely needed.

I agree the tactic is great with some PK changes. My Colorado game (Work game) i was able to win the cup the first season with this tactic as my team went on a tear in the playoffs.
The second season is not going well though as my team is completely mediocre which i expected first season but not after a cup winning season with minimal changes.
Has anyone noticed a decline in this tactic used across multiple seasons or is this something that occurs with all tactics?

Hey, this looks really interesting... My only problem is that this is for EHM 2007, right? I currently have EHM 2005, not 2007... Do you have a tactic for the 2005 version of the game?Wroom wrote:tjodolf wrote:Hey.

No, sorry. But, I think the games have the same game-engine. So, this might work there too.tjodolf wrote:Hey, this looks really interesting... My only problem is that this is for EHM 2007, right? When you are searching for players, witch attributes are important for the following in your mind?
- Good centers
- Pacy wingers
- Top pair d-men
- Very good core second pair d-men
- Good goaltender

John.
Good Centers
Overall strength of the team. Basically means he should be good at most things. Compared to the league he is playing in. Speed, deking, faceoffs, passing, stickhandling, slapshot, wristshot, balance, creativity. The lines best guy. The tactic is build around the guy in the middle.
Pacy Wingers
Speed, Acceleration
Balance
Slapshot, Wristshot
Off the puck
Agility
Deking
Stickhandling
Work Rate
Of course, more good things helps too.
Top Pair d-men
Kind of close to the criteria for good centers, but more focused on the defensive aspects of the game. So don't think too much on deking, deflections, faceoffs, off the puck, stickhandling and so on.
Checking, balance, Pokecheck, positioning, stamina, strength. And it helps with good slapshot, wristshot. Overall the best D-men on your team and among the better d-men in the league.
Very good core d-men
Players who are in general not the greatest on every ability, but solid numbers on most of the important things. Overall balanced guy, say they have all important attributes at 14-15+(or more). Something better, and a couple worse. Look at the total impression of the player. He is not the to provide rocket science, but provide assistance and cover.
Good goaltender
Focus on technical(everything on the right), then look at the other stuff. He should be around 17-18 in most things at technical.
