ZIGGY PALFFY ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Ziggy Palffy has announced his retirement, effective immediately, due to personal reasons.
Palffy, 33, ranked second on the Penguins this season in scoring with 42 points (11+31) in 42 games.
Ziggy Palffy
The native of Skalica, Slovakia played 12 NHL seasons with the New York Islanders, the Los Angeles Kings and the Penguins. In 684 career games, he had 329 goals and 384 assists for 713 points.
Palffy was drafted by the New York Islanders in the second round (26th overall) of the 1991 Entry Draft. He played six seasons with the Islanders (1993-1999), recording 331 points (168+163) in 331 games. Palffy scored 40 or more goals in three straight seasons with the Islanders (1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98).
Palffy was traded to Los Angeles on June 20, 1999 and played five seasons with the Kings (1999-2004), recording 340 points (150+190) in 311 games.

That's really something atleast I didn't expect. He still had it considering he did still get PPG in a bad team, not to mention that he wasn't really that old yet and had maybe 4-5 more seasons in him. Guess not huh?

We had him signed for two more seasons? If this was a recurring injury surely he knew about it heading in to this year before signing a three year deal. Just wonder if this is the first sign of unrest among the team with the new "Camp Therrien" philosophy in place. I hope not because it will get very ugly. I hate to see Palffy go but something tells me his playing days are not over(just in Pittsburgh).
