TSN is reporting that Garnet Exelby is being shipped out of Atlanta in the Kubina trade. Exelby leaves the Thrashers as the longest tenured member of the organization.

Finally something decent from Gainey! I'm really excite about this news. Since i knew that Cammalleri won't re-sign with Calgary i was hoping that maybe he could come to MTL. Great addition!

B is correct, but it also has to do with retirement clauses in the CBA. If a player signs a contract before the age 32 or 35 (can't remember which right now) and then retires before the contract expires, the team is off the hook for the cap hit. If a player signs a contract after that age and retires before it expires, the team is still on the hook for 1/2 the cap hit.

Would you take a contract job with a company that was in bankruptcy court? Plus with the ownership (and thus budgets) in question the front office probably have their hands tied.

Funny how the Flyers web site credits "multiple news outlets." They couldn't get the info from...oh, I don't know...the Flyers?

Would I sign with them? No. I was just more wondering if they are even tryng to land anyone or not.

At first glance, it doesn't appear that way. However, there is plenty of time left on the clock so to speak.

The Coyotes signed Vernon Fiddler. But don't expect much else because they don't know if they have any money

Marian Gaborik is now a Blue Shirt! 5 year deal, 5.75 year. Gaborik is going to be more dangerous in the east, could be interesting to watch is performances with the Rangers.

Thats what i tought. In the east the game is less physical than the west so maybe Gaborik could be less injured. I always like Gaborik but is injuries always keep him away from the competition, now i'm excite yto see him in the east, we could watch it play more often.

So no Heatly deal and OTT is on the hook for 4 mill. Will he still be traded away or will OTT want to keep him for another year because of it?

And Phoenix picked up a few players. Although to be honest I donno how good they are or if they'll help the team any.

There is a bigger chance of Jesus coming back to Earth in the next 3 years than there is of Gaborik playing a 80 game season.

Funny chain:
Hossa->Havlat->Gaborik->Gomez
CHI -> MIN -> NYR -> MTL
Similar salaries, age, reputation and expectiation. :-k
Each of these teams left star player go to sign another. Poor Detroit is on the begining with no substitution. I'm sure Holland will manage some good signing.

I think Begin will add some more toughness to the Bruins. It's a one year deal for short money, so I think it's a decent signing. They also re-signed Bitz. I'm just wondering what kind of money they're going to have left for re-signing Kessel and Hunwick.

So can we re-name the Montreal Canadiens to The Lilliput Smurfs? They are going to be one of the smallest teams EVER!

This should be posted to "Lidas Rosters 2008/09 - Mistakes/Omissions/Tweaks/Etc" thread. Maybe Lidas will change it in 2009/2010 rosters :-D

:-p

I think the Habs fans here might rise up and revolt if that happened. I'm visualizing something out of Gulliver's Travels where they had him tied to the ground.

Well, I haven't gotten that far yet in updating the roster, but I can start with the team name...
