I don't think Lang should retire yet, as what i see from him last year in MTL, he can still help pretty good a team. He finish with 39 pts in 50 games with the Habs in the second line. He play with intensity and make some important goal and is addition make more experience with a team.Jypfan92 wrote:Those players maybe retires, i think: Kölzig, Fernandez, Zubov, Sundin and Lang

Noooooooooooo!philou21 wrote:I've heard a rumor of Joe Sakic will announce is retirement Thursday. In my mind this can't happen!what will be the Avs without Sakic? What will be the NHL without Captain Joe?
It can't be......

Hope Avs are going to retire his jersey and he will be announced in Hall of Fame in three years. No doubt he deserves it. I think he is very very similar to Steve Y, and I don't mean only jersey number

It sucked, but I was honestly surprised that Stevie came back after the lockout, so we got a bonus year.McQwak wrote:Hey Hypno,

I won't miss Chelios. We may have been able to keep Kyle Quincey if Chelios had retired before last year and he was a waste of a roster spot for most of this year.

I can only agree. Not a die-hard red wings fan but I do like their style of playing. Chris Chelios is just way too old... i mean come on old man, just give it up already?!Hypnotist wrote:It sucked, but I was honestly surprised that Stevie came back after the lockout, so we got a bonus year.McQwak wrote:Hey Hypno,

Sad to see Sakic retire, he was really one of the key guys when I was into hockey the most. Great leader aswell.
As for Chelios, he has all my respect for going on for so long and you can have alot worse 7th d-men in your team. Probably a great guy to have in the locker room aswell.
Still a hypocrite traitor though.

Man it sucks to see Sakic retiring. Too bad I was looking forward to him playing for Canada at the Olympics in his own backyard in BC.
Also according to Burke after signing Beauchemin he recived a serious offer for a blueliner other then Kaberle.
Just want to correct you but Finger makes 3.5 mil a year, not 4.4 .philou21 wrote:Yeah your right. Karberle is certainly the most easy to trade, Schenn is the futur of the team, Beauchemin and Komi just sign. Finger sucks but is 4.4 a year ( most stupid move ever ) Tough, i don't know who still be in the race for him.

That's sad that Sakic retires. He was my idol when i bought my first NHL-game (NHL 05). And he's cool player and he have very good wristshot. But it's not surprise that he retires, he had two hard seasons, 2007-08 only 44 games and 2008-09 only 15 games. And Duchene embarrassed Sakic by saing that he's not going to play with snow blower.

Yeah, he played well, but Lang is old and he's wages are quite big for 2nd/3rd line center.philou21 wrote:I don't think Lang should retire yet, as what i see from him last year in MTL, he can still help pretty good a team. Saku Koivu goes to Anaheim with a one-year contract. I am extremely excited to see Koivu and Selänne playing together (probably with Lupul). Now it is time for Anaheim to win another Stanley Cup and let Saku and Teemu retire after that.
As it seems that Colorado isn't going to play for Stanley Cup next season, I am going to support Anaheim.

While I feel tremendous sadness that Joe Sakic will be retiring, I hope that someone in the Avalanche organization has enough sense to keep Joe involved in the organization in some aspect, just as the Red Wings did with Yzerman. Although I am not from Quebec nor Colorado, I've watched the Nordiques and the Avalanche since I was little and Joe Sakic instantly became my favorite player with the way he read the game, was a fantastic leader and developed possibly the games' best wrist shot. I was lucky enough to watch Joe play once, a Thanksgiving Night game in Columbus and was just amazed how he made every play look so effortless and every player around him better. I wish Joe nothing but success in the future!

So far the Wings have lost Hossa, Hudler (unless they can get a deal done before the deadline), Kopecky & Samuelsson. That's 88 goals and 187 points to replace. I hope Filppula, Helm, Leino and Abdelkader can step up. We've still got one of if not the best defense in the league.
Lidstrom-Rafalski
Kronwall-Stuart
Lebda-Ericsson
Lilja-Meetch
Still that's a lot of offense to replace and there doesn't seem to be much proven firepower left in the UFA pool. Although, they absolutely had to make room for some of the youth that have been in the system for years and give the ones already here a chance at a larger role with the team.
Saku Koivu is reported to have signed with Anaheim, according to NHL.com's FA signing list.

Have you heard of this Qualifying Offer Mistake By Chicago? Now it seems that Versteeg really signed 3 years deal (3m p/y) as UFA, instead of around 1m p/y as RFA. It's pitty - for Blackhawks GM...

They don't. If you were following the hockey from Quebec, you'll see that Koivu isn't the hero he is suppose to be. Everybody here is happy to see him gone. But i don't want to go on this subject because i'm going mad when talking about Koivu.Franck wrote:It is really horrible to see how Montreal have treated Saku, deserved alot more respect than that organisation has given him.
