Silvergreyish skin

Post by Lumpjaw »

Thought that I'd should share my first skin ever made for EHM 2007 with you guys. It's based on the default skin with color and some icons changes. As it's my first skin, I'd guess that there is something that's not too good, but I think it's a good first skin. And when I remember I'd like to thank B.Stinson for his LCD scoreboard and his rink elements wich I'd used in the skin, and also Minstrel for his skinning guide.

Some screens. As you can see I've not changed the logos on the startup screen, cause I didn't came up with something good. If you want more screens just tell me and I fix it.

The skins pretty cool. I'm yet to adventure into the world of skin making. I think I'll just stick to the making of cards.

You can find a guide to uploading files to the database here.

Thanks

Yes, it's really nice to see a new skin. There's so many possibilities with skinning but not many users have taken the plunge into skin design.

Hey, I love this skin, and I've started editing in, but is there no xml files for EHM skins?

No.

EHM skins have three parts:

1. The graphics. These are all the individual PNG files that make-up the skin, commonly called "skin-elements".
2. The SKN file (ehm_default.skn). This is the directory where the above graphics are located.
3. The COL file (ehm_default.col). This file sets all text colors, and a handful of skin-element colors.

A guide to the 2005 COL file can be found Here.

If you read over this, you'll start to see how much of a headache EHM skinning is, and your skin will most likely end-up revolving around the limitations of this COL file, rather than your imagination. If you want to simply alter default graphics, then you'll be fine. Start to change text colors, and you'll have a tougher time.

BUG NOTICE: EHM 2007 has a bug where it loads ehm_default.col on start-up, regardless of whether your on a different skin with its own COL file. The two ways around this are to either reload your skin every time you start EHM... or you can simply name your skin's COL file ehm_default.col, with the real ehm_default.col renamed to something else.

In that case, that's not possible. That's all hard-coded.
