I had a questioning about college players. I have two guys in particular that I want to bring out of college and onto my AHL team. One is Nick Petrecki and the other is JVR. However, when I got to sign them to a two way deal, there are #’s to the left of their player status (hot young prospect, etc.) These guys have no intentions of signing with me. Petrecki is 22 and JVR is 21.
Will they ever sign with me? If so when? Or should I trade them now and get some value out of them? If I can’t sign them, is there a time limit on their rights as apart of my team?
I apologize if this question has been asked before. I did a search and nothing came up.

All of them are blocked. I just gave an example with young hot prospects.
Decent prospects core players, regular players, the one above core players. THey are all full of #'s.
If it helps, I believe the team with their rights (the college one), has listed them as untouchable players. It is also in August when I'm trying to sign them (althought Petrecki I've been trying to sign for two years now).

I thought you said another team had their rights? If you have their rights, then you should be able to sign them. I haven't seen players like this refuse to sign with the team that holds their rights. This usually only happens with European players that don't want to come over to North America. College players shouldn't put up that much of a fuss. There's got to be something else at play here. When you get to the screen where "Hot Young Prospect", "Core", and all the rest is blocked out with ##, does it say anything at the top of the screen? Usually you will see some sort of reason. For example, with the European players it says something like they are "very happy with their team" or "doesn't want to move to North America".
Even if those are blocked out with ##, you should be able to click one and still make an offer. Sometimes they will sign and sometimes they will refuse. If they refuse, they will usually give a reason in the news item.

Thanks for trying to help me out. I’m sure there is something else at play too.
I’m going to go home tonight and figure this out… or provide you more details. ’m at work right now
The team that has his NHL rights is my team. But his trade status is set to untouchable (I don’t believe I set these players as such) so I can only assume it’s their college teams. I will check later tonight and provide more details. I was wondering if anybody else was having problems with College prospects.

I have seen this happen before. Sometimes when I trade for Aaron Marvin in my first season, he will then go off to college. If I offer him a contract before he goes to college, he will often sign it. If I wait until he begins college, he will not sign.
I think this has to do with a player not wanting to leave college during a hockey season. I suggest you try again to sign him after his college season is complete.

I've signed players during their college season and they join the team in the off-season. I've seen this happen before and they usually give a reason when you're trying to sign them. Sometimes they just don't like you or the team and would rather wait until their rights expire and become free agents. You might have to wait until then and pay a hefty price for them.

That really stinks… if that was the case. Where do they give you a reason why? For me, all of their player statuses are # and when I click on status to give an offer, they say “player x has no interest in joining your team”.
Petrecki I acquired in the late rounds of the fantasy draft and I don’t believe he was ever on my team…
I somehow remember that for JVR, I acquired via trade and as such, he was actually on my roster at one point but this was during the season when my AHL roster was full and he was only 20, so I figured waiting till 21 and joining during the offseason couldn’t hurt… this way… doesn’t he have to have an NHL contract to end up on my team?
It only happens to those two college players. Mark Mitera (already had rights to him) signed on my team for the rookie minimum.
