Editor help needed
Hi,
The link posted on page 15 does not work. I just tried it. The web page opens and I can see the descriptions of the editor but I can not download it. There is no link on that web page for downloading. Can you please point out to an alternative link? Thank you.

Editor help
Hi,
Thanks, I downloaded it. I couldn't do it with Internet Explorer, but I did it with with Firefox. Is there any way that I can modify my saved games with this editor, for example changing player attributes for saved games? If not, can someone please post a link of a saved game editor which can do that? Thank you.

Ok, I have a couple of questions about the pre-game editor. Hopefully this has not been answered already, but there are 16 pages of info here and a lot of it is outdated now.
1) I want to update my database and rosters to be consistent with the current NHL rosters. However, when I attempted this, the rights for all of the prospects for NHL teams were released, thus leaving every NHL team with no prospects. Does anyone know why this happened and how to fix it? Does this have anything to do with the 50/80 roster limits? I updated the salary cap in the config file, so that was not the problem.
2) How do I make a backup of the database, and/or rename the one I am editing?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey,
I know few players who haven't retired from international games. For example, Sami Kapanen, Sinuhe Wallinheimo still plays in team Finland. I want them to play in team Finland, so should i delete their names from extra.cofig.file?
file i think should be deleted (is this right?):
"INT_RETIREMENT" "Sami" "Kapanen" ""

Can i edit record_config file safely without any errors? I mean that can i put Finnish Sm-leagues real top ten points, goalscorers and assists cause in game there is only active players records.
For example Sm-leagues real top ten points (career):
These stats before season 2006-2007
1. Arto Javanainen 462+330=792 points
2. Matti Hagman 288+462=750 points
3. Reijo Leppänen 356+374=730 points
4. Janne Ojanen 251+438=689 points
5. Jari Lindroos 230+432=662 points
6. Esa Keskinen 215+443=658 points
7. Risto Jalo 237+409=646 points
8. Kari Makkonen 286+290=576 points

So I'm starting to mess around with the pregame editor (to see if I'll be actually able to figure out how to do some of the prospects updating Lidas asked about) and I realized I'm not totally understanding a few attributes that appear only in the editor. I figured maybe somebody could help explain them to me.
First off, the Offensive and Defensive Role attributes. In CAS these two couldn't add up to be more than 20. This is not the case in the database. I see goalies are 1-20 (OFF-DEF) and that makes sense. I see forwards and defensemen with ones like 17-9, 15-10, 12-12, and 16-16. I don't think it's tied to the CA or PA of the player because I saw a prospect that wasn't so special have a 16 Offensive Role and 16 Defensive Role. A much better prospect was 16-10. So is this just to make a ratio? Does it really matter how big the numbers are? Could the player have a 9 Offensive Role and 5 Defensive Role and still be good? Are there any guidelines to this that I can follow?
As for hidden attributes... I'm not sure I understand some of them. Could anyone explain them and how they affect the player and how he acts in EHM?
Sportsmanship
Temperament
Decisions
Natural Fitness
Pace
Movement
Also, what's the difference between Adaptability and Versatility?
What about Determination vs Ambition?
Is One-On-Ones only used for goalies? You'd think that it would factor in on how a player does with shootouts but it was set to 1 for every forward prospect I looked at.
I think that's it for now.

In regards to the Offensive/Defensive Roles. I usually set them according to the players actual role in real life. For example, with Kirk Maltby of the Red Wings. If you go into the database before any changes are made, his Offensive role is around 10-11, and his Defensive role is around 18. This is pretty accurate, since Maltby is not much of a goal scorer, thus will not have such a large offensive role. Conversely, a guy like Datsyuk will have an Offensive role of around 18-20 and a Defensive role of around the same (because of his 2-way play).bruins72 wrote:So I'm starting to mess around with the pregame editor (to see if I'll be actually able to figure out how to do some of the prospects updating Lidas asked about) and I realized I'm not totally understanding a few attributes that appear only in the editor. Sportsmanship = I believe this correlates at some level to the "dirtyness" attribute for players, but this one is for staff
Temperament = the general attitude of the non-player/staff towards those around him
Decisions = I believe this relates to how well the player makes decisions regarding passing, shooting, checking, etc...
Natural Fitness = how hard the player has to work to keep in shape.
Pace = speed
Movement = getting open
Adaptability = used for coaches to determine how well they can adapt to different situations
Versatility = used for players to determine which situations they can be used in (i.e., PK, PP, ES, etc.)
Determination = the players/coaches desire to win
Ambition = the players/coaches desire to advance his career (more important for non-playing staff)
Hope this helps you.

I think that's it for now.
Determination
-----------------
Used directly for the performance of a player in the game. Higher determination helps especially in the playoffs. In the regular season it's not that important. A rating about 10 is enough in the regular season. Players with a rating of 15-20 can make a difference in the playoffs though.
Ambition
-----------
Does not affect the performance of a player in a game. But it has a big influence on contract negotiations. Always take a look at the ratio between loyality and ambition. Player with a low ratio tend to ask for more money. Also you might see players "want a change" and ask for a move sometimes. It's usually guys with a low ratio. And these guys are hard to keep in the team once they hit the UFA status.
Sportsmanisship
---------------------
Just as important as dirtyness, in terms of penalties. Both attributes decide how dirty your player will act in a one on one situation and the probability of a penalty.
Temperament
----------------
Players with a low temperament rating get provoked more often and you'll find them sometimes with a major penalty in the box.
Movement
-------------
= getting open
Adaptability
-------------
Helps new and foreign players in your team to develop a chemistry with their new teammates. It's also easier to bring european guys with a high adaptability rating to Northamerica.
Versatility
------------
Only used when learning a new position in practise.
Natural Fitness
----------------
Helps your players to get back to 100% shape faster. Guys that skate well, have a good stamina and a high natural fitness can be trained to intensive skating or conditioning and will still get to 100% before each game. But there are not many of them out there. Most of the superstar players, and some guys that are superfast on their skates like Afinogenov or Campbell can manage an intensive physical practise plus a lot of ice time.
Decisions
------------
If i remember correctly it raises with the experience just like the "important games" attribute. Players with a high decisions rating would make less errors in the game that lead to giveaways for example.
One on One
---------------
Just like Jypfan92 said, the one on one attribute is confirmed to be only used by goalies.
offensive/ defensive role
-----------------------------
Used together with current ability to determine the players attributes. For example players with a rating of 15 and a potential of 150 will have an estimated avarage of 15 in their offensive attributes when fully developed.
Let's say you have a player with potential of 200 and his offensive and defensive role are both 15. He will reach an attribute avarage of about 17. But he will still play better than someone with similar attributes but a lower ability (e.g a player with 160 ability and 18/18 for offensive and defensive role)
The offensive and defensive attributes determined by CA and the off/def role, include all of the technical attributes, all of the phyical attributes, plus the following mental atts: aggression, bravery, anticipation, creativity and flair (flair is fixed like consistency but still it is use to determine the atts avg.)

Excellent! If you're over at that forum and that guy is still an active poster maybe you could ask if he'd mind if we added that to our knowledge base? He doesn't own the actual info but if we were to copy and past his post verbatim, he should at least be asked for some sort of permission.
EDIT:
That Average, Minimum, and Maximum attributes by CA bit is really useful! That should apply to Physical and Technical attributes, right? Because the Staff Attributes and Mental Attributes don't really change (much if at all) over the player's career. Right?
