How come the other goalies are so good?

Post by jtilson23 »

Uhh...

I'm playing as the 'nucks right now with a slightly edited version of the Lidas DB (making some players slightly better than what they were). None of the goalies I played recently were edited at all to make them better and these are their stats:

Mason - 47/50 shots (Luongo 20/25)
Budaj - 52/54 shots (Luongo - 12/15)
Osgood - 41/42 shots (Luongo - 11/13)
Budaj - 46/47 shots (Luongo - 15/16)
Legace - 63/65 shots (Luongo - 17/19)

I don't understand how the opposing goalies are playing so well and Luongo is so awful. Lu's stats are substantially better than all of them and it's ridiculous. My lines are:

Sedin-Sedin-Naslund
Demitra-Morrison-Bernier
Lucic-Kesler-Burrows
Hordichuk-Johnson-Rypien

(Lucic, Kesler, and Burrows were all edited slightly. Lucic for better hitting and strength, Kesler for better faceoffs and pokechecks, and Burrows for teamwork and pokechecks)

Ohlund - Edler
Mitchell - Salo
Witt - Keith

As you can tell I have an affinity for the old Canucks.

I am not using redplaymover or anything. I have personal tactics for all the players with Naslund and Demitra shooting the most (18 and 20 wristshot).

Why are the other goalies standing on their head... consistently. Especially since at the start of the season I was dominating games winning with 5 or more goals. Naslund had 44 points in 21 games? It seems there is no way these goalies should consistently turn in amazing games while Luongo gets shelled.

I'm frustrated...

I had a problem like this. It has to do with your tactics. See how goals against you are scored. I bet you almost all of them are people breaking in past your defense or catching your goalie out of position.

A very easy fix is to tell Luongo to stay in the crease. He's not very fast and not very good with the stick. The rest will be up to you with regard to tweaking your defensive positioning. If your D do not have good speed or are good with pokecheck and checking, then it's not a good idea to have gap control low. etc. Play around with it. In my game, Luongo is the chief reason the Canucks have been to the Stanley Cup finals 6 seasons in a row. I HATE playing him.

Sometimes goalie just need a number of shots to play well, like 20 + shots per game. If a goalie just got 13-15 shots he can be bored and when the other team attack he can make more mistakes because he didn't see a lot of action. I always try when i do my tactics that my goalie like the ''style of play'' of the team. Then, it means that the goalie is happy and he will perform well.

i have this problem also but my defence speed ranges from 14-16 and i use a tight gap. it could be that my just sucks.

15th overall in the east(rebuilding year) but we are 6-3-1 in the last 10 games we let in 3.68 goals on a game on average and score 3.23 goals a game on average. we have one shutout and have not been shutout yet.

maybe it's the fact i have all-euro team, with maybe 6 north americans who the hell knows.. but i know one thing we suck.
