Best Team Roster with LidasSB1.3

Post by DonGiovannie »

Let us say that Salary doesn't matter!

What is in your opinion the best roster you can have in this game? Let us say the players age is between 18 to 25 years at most!

I am thinking of line ups like:

Ovech(king) - Crosby - e.g. Malkin

If salary doesn't matter and you're picking players, not a team, won't this just be a list of the best players in the game?

Yes it could be a list of best players in the game...and that where very senseless!

First think and than type :-)
Let me change the question to:

What was the best starting 5 in the game (players) if you can choose if you want? Which can dominate over years and harmonice in playing...

I think Ovechking and Crosby are a good lineup for waht i tested and what i read here but who can be best stick up with them and that for years?

In my tactics it doesnt matter what goalie i have. Of course i need decent stable goalie, but Brodeur is same than Hannu Toivonen. In saving percentage. I use so offensive tactic.

Ovechkin - Crosby - Horton
Wolski - Kopitar - Perry
Van Riemsdyk - Staal J - Mueller
Hollweg - Leino - Eager

Bouwmeester - Phaneuf
Coburn - Edler
Staal M - Schenn

Fleury
Montoya

If you absolutely want Malkin on your team replace Ovechkin with Kovalchuk, Ovechkin and Malkin don't get along. I would prefer to replace Fleury with one of Luongo or Lundqvist but both are over the age cap.

I've just looking around and what do you mean about this formation? Think 3 Off Lines is enough cause of getting enough ice time for this talented players ;-)

Don't know of choosing Ward or Fleury as G....

Ovechkin, A - Crosby, S - Zherdev, N
Wolski, W - Spezza, J - Horton, N
Semin, A - Bergeron, P - Latendresse, G

Pitkanen, J - Bouwmeester, J
Coburn, B - Phaneauf, D
Staal, M - Meszaros, A

Fleury, M / Ward, C
Montoya, A

Don't like Zherdev at all. Latendresse is a fantastic choice, I'm kicking myself for forgetting him. Pitkanen is a good choice, though I'm biased against him because he's had injurie troubles with me. I'm not sure I would recommend putting Meszaros on the third pairing.

So i just started a new Rangers Game...

My Roster

Ovechkin, A - Crosby, S - Zherdev, N
Wolski, W - Spezza, J - Horton, N
Semin, A - Bergeron, P - Latendresse, G

Pitkanen, J - Bouwmeester, J
Coburn, B - Phaneauf, D
Staal, M - Meszaros, A

Lundqvist
Ward

With 2 D Liners and Toews and Kane.

Decided to go on with Lundqvist as starting G and then in later draft to pick Hassek regen.

Just played the pre Season and 3 Seasongames and i dominate! Give a update after a few more games....

Half of the Season is over and it works good for me!

Ovechkin and Crosby have more than 100 Points.
Zherdev are about 70 but he didn't play every game first line...sometimes i gave Kane a chance on the first line to beat the Rangers Rooky Goal Record! Kane got around 25 goals so far - so i'm in good mood to beat the record!

I just finished my first season and lost in game 7 in stanley cup finale against cannucks 5:4 ](*,)

Gave a few changes in my roster:

Hedman, Tavares, Picard and a second goalie came to me

Zherdev, Dubinsky, Ward and a few prospects left my roster

I don't know why but Zherdev lost many skillpoints in my roster...but know he is always as good as on the beginning :-(

Second season is over and i won my first cup! It was victory in the final against the Cannucks...but this year it was a 4:2 victory for me!

I just change my roster in the late season and to me came Getzlaf, Perry and Ryan and i gave up Spezza and Bergeron!

Ovechkin - Crosby - Horton are my first Line! Crosby and Horton with over 150 Points followed from Ovechkin with over 140 Points!

Getzlaf and Ryan make a fantastic job for me in the second line. Getzlaf ended with about 120 Points the Season - round about 40 for my team ;-)

Think I got now the Roster and will dominate the future!

Woohoo! Congrats :)

I really like Horton. He doesn't have the technical skills some other players have, but he does incredibly well.

This thread reminds me of an idea I had for the new site design:

I was thinking of having a feature somewhere on the forums (perhaps at the top of the General EHM Forum) a section which displays a random player recommendation for EHM. It would feature the player's cardface (either the TBL card design or Andy's design) along with some details of the player's strengths, weaknesses, reputation rating and the league(s) he would be of most interest to (along with a five star rating for each league, depending on how useful he would be for each league). Does that make sense?

So every time you visit the General EHM Forum you are presented with a random player recommendation for EHM. The idea wouldn't be to go for the most obvious players (e.g. Ovechkin, Malkin, etc) but the lesser known players who might not end up as NHL superstars but who could be a good solid addition to your team (both veteran players and prospects). The idea would be to have suggestions for not only the NHL but also the other North American Leagues and some of the Euro leagues.

I'd love to hear what people think of this and which players they would suggest. If you want to suggest a player then please post the following details:

Player name:
Current age:
Team (and if he has been drafted):
Position(s):
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Five star ratings (for each league he would be useful for):

Here is a fictional example:

Player name: Joe Bloggs
Current age: 19
Team: Red Deer Rebels (drafted by Minnesota Wild)
Position(s): RW
Strengths: A strong two-way player, would help tighten a line's defence, useful on the penalty kill.
Weaknesses: Lacks offensive skills, not the quickest or most technical player.
Five star ratings: NHL **, Canadian Juniors ****, North American Minors ****

I really like this idea!

It's almost like how the front office screen of EHM has one of your players in the upper right corner and shows you some of his info but this would be more of a short player summary. This could be really cool. Another thing I'd consider adding is from what DB the recommendation is from. Is it from the default 3.04 database or is it from Lidas rosters 2.0? That kind of thing.

That's where I got the general idea from. I thought it might be a way of introducing some of the lesser known players into the game. We all have our own list of players we tend to acquire so it'd be nice to mix things up a little.

I think recommendations should come from the most current version of the Lidas rosters (i.e currently version 1.3 and soon to be version 2.0). I wouldn't have thought that many TBL users use the older rosters.

And no regens. It's got to be somebody in the DB when you start the game and probably someone who has a face card?

Definitely no regens. It'd have to be somebody who exists in real life. It doesn't matter so much whether they have a face card or not. If they don't have one, we can always make one - either from a pic sourced online or a generic one (i.e. a silhouette of a hockey player).
