Alright, well I've put together a quick update that includes many of the fixes listed here, and it can be downloaded from here:
Lidas, I hope you don't mind that I called it LidasDB2.0.1 - I indicated that it is an unofficial update in the readme but if you prefer that I rename the file entirely, I can do that, no problem.
Here's a complete list of changes:
*Fixed Cam Fowler and Stanislav Galiev - they will no longer be signable as 17 year-olds.
*Fixed positions of Phil Kessel, Brad Boyes, Daniel Briere and Shane Doan.
*Gave rating boosts to Michael Del Zotto, Ryan O'Reilly, Craig Anderson and Steven Stamkos due to recent performance.
*Lowered ratings to Jonathan Cheechoo and Alex Tanguay due to performance last season and this season.
*Fixed names for Semyon Varlamov, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond and Jeff Deslauriers.
*Fixed certain attributes for Rick DiPietro, Steve Bernier, Willie Mitchell, Henrik Sedin, Ales Hemsky and Marian Gaborik.
*Fixed Potential Ability of Carl Klingberg.
*Fixed Daniel Rahimi's rights - they now lie with the San Jose Sharks.
*Several other minor changes.
Hopefully that will do, for some people at least, for now.
EDIT: I remove the link to the database. Still, if you want to use it, send a PM to Canukk, and I'm sure he will provide you with the link. / Lidas

If anyone uses this DB, please DONT use it for the upcoming challenge. I'll release a DB just before the challenge dealing with all issues that have come up in this thread.Canuckk wrote:Alright, well I've put together a quick update that includes many of the fixes listed here, and it can be downloaded from here:

Canukk, Id actually prefer if you didnt upload this file, and instead wait for the 2.0 fix to come out. Could you please remove that DB and wait until I release mine?

Sure, that's fine. I just wanted to help out those who just want a quick fix, but if you're releasing a proper fix soon then great.Lidas wrote:If anyone uses this DB, please DONT use it for the upcoming challenge. LA's Brad Richardson needs a decrease in ability. I'm playing through with the Kings now and he has 38 points in 58 and in past databases I've seen him consistently become a very good 2nd liner or a first liner. In real life he has only 45 points in 184 games and currently has 0 in 17. He's been bugging me for a while.

I'll join the choir, Oilers farming needs a solution! They have really become unplayable.
Denis Grebeshkov should get a offensive boost (he got a sniping wrister I tell you), and his defensive game for sure is worse than his skills in the DB tells.
Pääjärvi-Svensson should get his name inverted like people already said and he is a bit on the slow side (although I don't know if you made it that way because he's young).
Chris Minard is a AHL star-player just below NHL-level who the Oilers signed to lead at Springfield, he's in need of a boost.
Anything lower than 20 in aggressiveness for Matt Nickerson is too low. Teams won't sign him bacause of his temper and aggression, he's a real problemchild.
Errors are rare and pretty much covered already, only some subjective tweaking of some players. Good job!

i have idea to fix that. you have to edit their career stats, and like i said before, edit draft years (check page 2 or 3). THAT NEEDS A LOT OF WORK (!).
For example, scored 33+70 in 2008-2009 (in real life). start of the game is 2006-2007 so you have to edit that real life's stats 3 years after (in db 2009-2010). So Crosby should be drafted 1st in 2002 draft (in real life he is drafted 2005).
So his stats could be:
-2003 in CHL
2003-04 81 games 39 goals +63 assists (in real life this is season 2005-06)
2004-05 79 36+84 (2006-07)
2005-06 53 24+48 (2007-08)
2006-07 77 33+70 (2008-09)
And these stats should be edited again to every new db! Or why not to every 3rd (for example) cause like i said before, there's a lot of work.

That's a whole lot of editing work. I know for me, I'm less concerned with the draft years and stats than I am the player attributes and potentials. I just wonder if it would even be possible to get that much done. Look at home many hours Lidas has spent editing what he has for this database. If he were to do player histories/stats, you could probably double (or more) the amount of hours it would require.Jypfan92 wrote:i have idea to fix that. you have to edit their career stats, and like i said before, edit draft years (check page 2 or 3). Agreed, that would be too much work to add three years of history, even if you use a script to push the old stats down three years. The only not too impossible solution I can think of is that you edit the last history year of all the false rookies to a nhl team. Still that mean Lidas would have to go through EVERY one of these players and do the change.bruins72 wrote: That's a whole lot of editing work. I find another tweak for the DB. Pat Quinn has proven he's good with young players and deserve higher stat than 10. Also I can't understand how he can be so much worse than Renney, at the moment you just kick Quinn and make Renney HC.

Unfortunatley no, the UHL won't work. We need to AHL because there are no roster limits, so we can actually dump enough players there. Also from a player development standpoint, we realy need an AHL team for a place to develop young players. ECHL is the Greenland of hockey, players saddled there are not going to develop.

Having Springfeild itself down there kinda sucks too, because the oilers have made sure there is a pretty decent staff in springfield in Rob Daum and such, They will move up from the ECHL as soon as there are openings avaialble because they are too good for that league.
I understand that there are hard limits on the number of teams in the league. But we can't have NHL teams loose affiliations they already had, as I said in my previous post, the oilers have to buy out half their players and dump players on the trade market and waivers to even make it under their roster limits before the season. They need a place to put them.

Don't forget the signings of Minard and Nickerson just for the AHL team.tksolway wrote:Having Springfeild itself down there kinda sucks too, because the oilers have made sure there is a pretty decent staff in springfield in Rob Daum and such, They will move up from the ECHL as soon as there are openings avaialble because they are too good for that league.

And more than just that, dean arnse etc. There are bout 5-6 players that are signed to play in springfield, not the NHL.visualdarkness wrote:Don't forget the signings of Minard and Nickerson just for the AHL team.tksolway wrote:Having Springfeild itself down there kinda sucks too, because the oilers have made sure there is a pretty decent staff in springfield in Rob Daum and such, They will move up from the ECHL as soon as there are openings avaialble because they are too good for that league.

I agree, and I made mention of this earlier in the thread. It's too bad that Springfield had to get bumped, but I understand the logic behind it given the hard code and the fact that they were such JUNK last season...it does make sense to drop out the two worst teams in the AHL to make room.tksolway wrote:Having Springfeild itself down there kinda sucks too, because the oilers have made sure there is a pretty decent staff in springfield in Rob Daum and such, They will move up from the ECHL as soon as there are openings avaialble because they are too good for that league.

That said, perhaps for 2.1 we could give the Oilers two shared AHL affiliates with two other AHL teams? That way, they could at least develop at the AHL level, and if there's two AHL affiliates, it could help to prevent those who use the Oilers to dump all of their prospects onto one team, and spread them out over two.
My two cents!

It would be better to have teams not as stacked as the Oilers sharing affiliates, but it's pretty much the most simple solution to put Oilers sharing with any "not-so-deep-rooster- team" or put them with some old team of theirs.tksolway wrote:Yes they can, however its not ideal, since your prospects are sharing playing time. I think that is the best idea! Which teams has the thinnest roosters?WallyWallcakes wrote: That said, perhaps for 2.1 we could give the Oilers two shared AHL affiliates with two other AHL teams? Hey, check this out. A friend of mine is using the 2.0, and apparently, Adam Deadmarsh somehow came out of retirement. I know that he is set as a non-player in the db, so it's obviously a pretty strange occurance.
http://www.zshare.net/image/68320167101dda71/
Edit: He did a fantasy draft, by the way. All the other guys (Housley etc) retired, though.
