First of all i am very happy to have found this website. I really enjoy Ehm and didnt know it had such a strong following. Ok but to my question. I am somewhat of a novice as far as comuters go, but i am having problems joining an online game. I am pretty sure it has something to do with my cable modem and i probably have a firewall so if anyone can give me an idiots walkthrough as to joining an online game it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, this is off the top of my head so I apologise for being a little vague. Here's some general pointers:

1) You ought to compare computer specs, and in particular, internet connection speed. EHM isn't too demanding so I'm guessing you both have computers that play it with ease. Assuming this is the case, then the person hosting the game ought to be the person with the faster internet connection.

2) Configure your firewall to allow EHM to communicate over the internet. You may also need to configure your firewall to allow the other player's IP address to communicate with your computer.

3) Ensure that you both have the same database/rosters and version of EHM. I think I ran into troubles when playing CM 01/02 over a network because we had different databases.

4) The host needs to find out what his IP address. You can find it out by going to http://www.whatismyip.com.

5) The host goes to EHM and starts a new online/network game.

6) Once the host has gotten to the screen where new managers are added (or any time after this), the other players may join.

7) To join, chose the option to join an online/network game. Somewhere on this screen it should allow you to enter an IP address, enter the host's IP. Provided you have the correct IP address and everyone's firewalls are configured properly, everything should work!

What firewall do you have? I *might* be able to help as I've had to fiddle with them before. Otherwise your best bet would be to search on Google on how to grant an application access to the internet.

anybody have any idea on how to make the games go faster on online mode. My friend an I are playing, both have good computers with broadband connection, but it takes like 10 minutes to finish a game, and there are no speed settings to play with....

Nope, sadly you can't speed it up. The game is speed-limited because otherwise one player would be able to see the goals before the other (or something like that). I think the latest patch (or the one previous) sped things up a little... :-k
