No I am not saying double standard..I am saying Kaleta does something dirty EVERY SINGLE game (if not every shift) and then runs and hides.

Ovechkin has not done it nearly as often (Although I do admit lately he has been bad)

And yes Ovenchicken is now a repeat offender, even according to the NHL's ridiculous way of meting out justice. So I expect that there will actually be a suspension.

Now..at the same time if Kaleta does the same thing tomorrow that Ovenchicken did today...I expect Kaleta to get more. because he has (even to the fairest minded eye) a much bigger record than Ovenchicken does.

BTW here is a link to a video of the hit.

Not as bad as first thought by me

1. Ovechkin goes to hit Gleason, Gleason darts and the knees collide. maybe ovechkin does drag his leg but not sure.

2. Ovi is having an MRI tonight, so his stupid play could put him out a long time. Gleason I believe stayed in the game

So...as a result...even if suspended Ovi will possibly be injured the entire time anyway.

Edit: and on the 20th and 21st view...it is dirty. This one is a tough call, even for me and I am usually very black and white.

The hit was suppose to be shoulder on shoulder at the first time. When Gleason turn to the left ( or right depend on the angle of the video ) That's when it's seems like Ovy use is knee. Even if it's a big mistake, it's a suspension but if he is injure for a long time, i'm sure the NHL will say something stupid like, he deserve no suspension because he already got is lesson.

What Ovechkin did deserves a suspension, no doubt about it. Dirty play. I'm not at all happy about the league missing it's best player, but maybe this injury will make Ovie think before he comes up with something like this again. And he should get suspended nevertheless. Let's hope this time the league's got balls to do it right. There are just too many unnecessary injuries this season.

As for Ballard... That was dreadful. Vokoun was probably saved by the goalie's cage, and still the shot severed his ear. Let's hope he gets well soon. Terrible accident.

And Ballard... I don't know. That was beyond stupid. He acted like a complete moron, and it wouldn't have been much better if he hadn't actually hit Vokoun. And what does he do afterwards? He swings the stick again, this time breaking it on the post, and then just skates away slowly, leaving his teammate bleeding on the ice. There are no words to describe that kind of behaviour.

TSN.ca reports that Savard signed a 7-year extension with B's at $4.2M cap hit. Boy, what a signing.

They've been working on this one for a while now. It's front loaded so he'll get his money in the beginning on the contract and then it won't be so bad when he's old. They can buy him out later in the deal. Anyhow, Savard has been saying that he is happy in Boston and wanted to stay there. The two sides found a way to get it done.

ANd the joke of a league will soon announce that Savard's contract which will take him til he is 95 will be investigated.

Edit: By soon...I mean the year 2012

If they're going to allow teams like the Blackhawks to do this, I don't see why the Bruins can't. While I don't like the idea of teams doing this to skirt the salary cap, there's nothing that can be done about it until they do a new CBA. I don't want to see my team lose out because they're taking a moral high ground.

They are investigating Hossa, Luongo, and Pronger deals. they did not announce they were investigating them until over a month after the deals were signed. There has been no discussion of what the investigation has entailed to this point and what the result is.

So...that is why I am saying they are going to investigate Savard's deal 5 months from now or more. And nothing will happen. The league is so ridiculous that way.

Honestly, it's the league's own fault. If they didn't want these type of deals they should have made sure to work it into the CBA when they implemented the salary cap.

No doubt that it is the League and CBA fault. No question. And no doubt it is fine for the teams to put out this type of contract in my mind either. I am just laughing at the league for "investigating". What are they gonna investigate? When someone plans on retiring? I mean come on....

It is a loophole in the CBA, teams are using it, agents are using it. Next CBA the league will once again try and protect its owners and shut this hole.

And I have no sympathy for Ballard--He did something every normal hockey parent tries to beat out of his kid. Took a spaz without thinking about the consequences of his actions. He deserves to feel naff, and hopefully will for a long period of time. And I hope his teammates take him to task. I know the opposition will.

The only thing I'll be buy in the near future is diapers! :-p

I was reading somebody's Twitter the other day, I think it was Puck Daddy from Yahoo, and he made a post about getting excited when he read that the commissioner had set a retirement date of 2012. Then his heart sunk when he read that it was Bud Selig, the commissioner of MLB. Why couldn't it have been Buttman?

Since Buttman is really an NBA guy, maybe he can go take over the NBA? There's supposed to be a lot of questions for David Stern in regards to fixing games in relation to that ref who got busted. If Stern steps down, they can have Buttman and we'll find a new commissioner.

I have heard rumours that John McDonough (Hawks pres) wants the job. Dude is a marketing machine, but not a hockey guy. Chicago Cubs fans had enough of him...and some Hawks fans are already sick of it. Sign anyone just to make a splash. Name is McSplash. But as commissioner, he would not have to sign players...just make splashes. So who knows. Maybe him and Wayner should meet up.

I might be okay with a non-hockey guy being commish as long as he had a really good hockey guy as his right-hand man. Then again, Buttman was making a splash when he focused the league's energy on bringing hockey to non-hockey markets. I guess I'd just be happy if they had a commish with a bit of common sense. Oh and I don't know that I'd want Gretzky running the league. I know he hates fighting and I worry about him taking away from the physical aspect of the league.

Corvo out for a few months with a leg laceration. Sounds more like a tendon with him missing that amount of time. Could be the same type of injury as Markov has.

Sucks for the Canes - the last thing they need is one of their best defenders out for an extended period.

Since he was one of their best, it goes to show how bad their blueline is. But yeah, injuries suck rocks

I think the Canes need to just pack it in and call it a season. They're getting killed by injuries!

Do you really? I would think you would want them to do something to make sure they finish at least 29th. You should be cheering the Canes.
