Merrill is ranked 10th in the final rankings in my game. I'd love to pick him up if he fell far enough so that he was still available when I drafted.

I think I had the 18th pick. I took Nino Niederreiter. Anyone else take him or see where he ended up?

You've got to love that name!

He's ranked 28th in my game. He's got a great looking report card but my scouts project him as a 3rd line depth guy, a skilled forward like a more talented version of Mike Johnson but still a depth guy.

:dunno:

I could not tell you off hand, but he won player of the year in the AHL in my season, he had like 120 point or so in his rookie AHL year.

Score! That's the result I'm looking for from him. I needed a left winger who can step in sometime in Season 3 or 4 for the 2nd line LW spot.

Too far to go back in this thread, but I am pretty sure CatchUp said something about "Anyone who does not take a defenseman with their first pick in the draft is a moron" or something to that effect.

So...when did Nino start playing D? :-D

....well played, sir.

I will go put on the moron hat. :yaright:

This first draft is really weak...I did want to take a D in the first round, but couldn't find anyone worth the spot. :dunno:

I was picking 22nd...and the last guy I really wanted went at 19 or 20...
There was absolutely nobody else in the first round that was worth spending a first round pick on, if it was allowed I'd have moved that first pick for a an additional first the next season. I ended up taking some small-ish soft Russian center who's now playing on Lake Erie's first line, 0g 7a -8 in 13 games...

Leading the West with a 11-4-1 record in my second season, but Anderson's out for a month. Budaj is very shaky, and still "not in game shape" after 5 pre-season and 7 regular season starts...

Yeah I am screwed come draft time, it looks like I may win Pres Trophy. Even though I cannot score. My leading goal scorer after 72 games--Wolski with 29. In the 12 games since I posted the stats...Svatos has exactly 2 goals. His average rating in those 12 games (2 of which he sat out) is 5.8. talk about dying off. He had 18 goals at the 40 game mark. 32 games later he has scored 9 more.

He ended up going 25th in my league.

And ya that first draft is pretty weak, I m very happy with Mcfarland at this point.

I drafted a kid named, Tomi Wilenius, in the third round (second draft), and at 18, he's got some nice ratings.

Seems to be a solid, but small, defensive minded winger.

I've been playing him on the third line.

Ashton / O'Reilly / Wilenius.

Willsie is pretty annoyed.

Happy to say have won the Cup in year four.

I hate the Flames, they took us to the absolute limit in seven.

If not oh well I guesss, was doing great this year too
How far into the season are you? Maybe we can work something out.
I was at game 30 in the season and already posted games 1-20. If I could i would start the season over as I have a save at the end of training camp I believe, Only questions are do I keep the original posted stats or disregard them and what is the penalty?

An appropriate penalty would be to have Tucker on the first line for the first set of games :-p

30 games isn't that far. I don't see why you can't restart from the beginning of the season. We've still got over a month left in this challenge and I'd hate to see you stuck on the sidelines because of a corruption issue.

As for a penalty. Let me discuss it with the others. I'm not sure if one is warranted or not. It's not like you broke the rules or anything. But then again, you have the benefit of knowing what might or might not work from those 30 games experience. So let me talk to the others and we'll figure it out. We'll end up deleting your stats from the first 20 games and having you post a new set for 3.1 when you get to that point.

Sound good?

Finally had the time to finish the first segment! The team is not doing very well, but Stastny and Wolski are top two in league in points. We're sitting at 14th in the West right now.

Tucker not only on the first line, but on the pp as well. And he must play C. His LW must be the other guy that bugs the daylights out of me..Hendricks.

To help prevent future corruption, I suggest going to Options and then Preferences. Uncheck "Save Compressed". It's supposed to help reduce the chance of corruption. Also, run a scandisk and defrag on your computer (if you're playing on a PC). You could also save a backup of your game every time you log your stats.

Also, please be aware... this will be your only restart. If corruption persists, you'll be out of luck. I'd also like to make sure everyone else understand that restarts are only permitted under extreme situations like this. It is a last resort and you should get the okay from one of the mods before doing so. :nerd:

Understood, Running a defrag right now and just unchecked compressed and I'm safe-saving again.

Good job. It's just safer that way. I've run into corruption issues in the past too and it stinks.

BTW, there won't be a penalty, eric. And I'm going to delete your stats post for season 3 games 1-20 now.

And back to my challenge team...

I've finally finished the regular season in my game (still season 1). Wolski came up 1 goal short of 50. What a heart-breaker! He played all 82 games of the season and finished with 96 points though. Going into that last game of the season there was a 4-way tie for the league lead in goals. 4 guys had 49 goals. Iggy ended up scoring 2 and hitting 51. Zetterberg reached 50. Stastny finished with 120 points in his first season. That was good enough for the scoring title. The next closest to him was Zetterberg with 111.

The Red Wings won the President's Trophy with 107 points. The Canucks came in 2nd in the West with 106. The Bruins were the top seed in the East with 106 points as well. We finished 5th in the West with 100 points, just 1 point behind the Flames. We actually had 1 more point than the 3rd place Ducks but they got the higher seed due to winning their division. We'll be playing the Flames in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Just finished my first 82 as well. Finished 1st. Won pres trophy. However, I only scored 193 goals and gave up only 153.

Want to give you my goalie stat lines. Basically I rotated them and had each start 2 in a row two times. Was not happy either time with result, so back to rotating.

C Anderson 43 GP 41 Starts 2593 Min 25W-10L-6OT 1.78 GAA .945 S% 6 SO 9.21 AvRt
P Budaj 41 GP 41 Starts 2375 Min 26W-11L-4OT 1.72 GAA .946 S% 6 SO 9.20 AvRt

SCARY HOW SIMILAR THEY ARE.
