Viscious Swedish media?

Post by BlackCats101 »

I am managing Bjorkloven in Sweden (as you may have read) and I am finding an incredibly large number of news stories are about the media slagging off players for poor performance etc. These are usually along the lines of 'a TV analyst has indicated that if he were in charge of so-and-so he would never endure the-insert deregotory term-displays that player x has been putting in.

This leads to hilarious scenarios where there are some teams near the bottom of the league where the vast majority of the players are unhappy at having been targeted. I tried defending my players but got shot down myself.
This was never the case in the NHL or the DEL when I was there, so it makes it all the better now! I do truly wish that there were more options to interact with the media on EHM though, in the manner of FM. For the latter I love the editors that some have made regarding media comments, so you get journalists claiming that their granny could run faster than the targeted player :-D

Haha! I think I'll keep well away from the Swedish leagues - I don't want to get hounded by the media!! :malky:

I'm pretty sure improving media interaction is high on the list of Riz's and GK's things to do for EHM 2007. If they could get something similar to the FM system then that would be good.

Personally, I don't want to see overkill with the media. It's cool to see once in a while, but if I'm having to interact with them on a very regular basis then it would get rather repetitive - particularly if there's only a limited number of interactions and responses. The EHM team is only a two man team so I guess they wouldn't have that much time to add a wide range of dialogue. Perhaps if they allow customisation then it could be a future project on TBL...

If I remember correctly, it's possible to customise and add to the media comments and responses in Football Manager.

The big problem with news items currently is they can't add one without having it translated into every language the game supports and then as it is an Official portion of the game eventually it all needs to be approved by all the liscensed leagues as well :-x

That's why JeffR and I had to do the UK->US translation if it was to exist in the game and believe me that file is a freakin' nightmare; it contain every darn string of text in the entire game (excepting the match dialog/summaries). Jeff sent me just a section of it and it was 240+ pages long.
