The Isle of Misfit toys have some good players. Robbie Schremp has himself a couple of points lately and Josh Bailey has been playing really well. They need to draft themselves a nice Defensman though...

They pick Calvin De Haan this year at the 12 rank. Don't know if the guy gonna be good though, really never heard of him. :dunno:

The Isles do not like defensemen. They trade them and sign 90 year olds who cannot skate to contracts (read: Witt etc)

Witt was good about 6-10 years ago, when games weren't so fast as todays.

Gill is lil bit faster, and Gill is more useful player. He can play in 2nd pp unit if injuries, Witt doesn't (i'm not going to put him pp, if i would be Isles coach).

No Hal Gill cannot. Hall Gill is at best a #7 dman on a top level team. he is not even close to a Power play guy. Nowhere near. Witt at least can hit the puck hard, but nowhere near PP either. Hal Gill may be the slowest player in the NHL. There is no question I would rather have what Witt brings (leadership, desire, shot blocking, tough in corners, good positionally, can fight occasionally and win, and actually gets the puck out of his zone) over what Hal Gill brings (turnovers, stupid reaching penalties, no shot, no ability to move the puck, no lateral mobility whatsoever) any day.

If you want Gill over Witt...that is up to you.

I'm with you on Gill, batdad. It was a happy day when his tenure with the Bruins ended. Also, I've never seen a more "soft" big man. He's a 6'7" marshmallow.

Ok, i haven't seen Gill's games since he played in Lukko, and it's about 5 years ago.

Oh yes Gill is VERY slow. :-D No, he is not a PP guy, the goal he score last week was a great slapshot but that seems to happen 1 chance on 100. But i must admit that he did a really good job with Gorges on the PK, that really surprise me, maybe it's because he don't need to move that much. :-D

I've seen NBA centers throw the body more than Hal Gill...

philou21, sorry again about last night. The irony is that I speculated that you were only speculating.

Selänne is away about 4-8 weeks cause of broken chin. I've never seen injury like this: Whitney shoots and puck bounce to Selänne's face from Miroslav Satan's stick  . Hopefully he can play in Olympics, if not, Jussi Jokinen should replace him in Team Finland.

It must have been some powerful shot from Whitney. To bounce off a stick, then off the ice and to STILL break Teemus jaw is something. Or maybe Teemu's bones are just becoming withered. :-D

Meh...the Boogie comment is no big deal. NOt sure why he felt the need to speak out about what Hordi said....Boogi was cool though not pummeling Hordi since the uni was up over Hordi's head in about 1 second. Coach may not have even said anything to Darcy, Darcy knew his role at that time of the game, down 5-2 against division rival...get out there and do something....IT does not mean get out and fight necessarily...but I can hear Alain say "Darcy, Bolduc, Hansen Get out there and do something, or you are headed for the press box next game" Darcy takes it as go fight...and apparently so did Bolduc....Hansen apparently thought it meant get out there and skate fast and fall down for no reason...just like he always does.

How do they work the scheduling on this? I wonder if the travel for this game is going to be a detriment to the Bruins and Coyotes. And how long will they have between this game and their next?

Regarding the chosen team, they must take into account all costs (travel, insurance, even the teams recieve money for this). The local promoter can choose from limited number of teams that NHL offers. And NHLPA must agree with it.
Over and over, there are many limitations that it's a miracle that two teams can come for the same two days (or more including practice). They travel in the same aircraft back to USA :)

Maybe it will be like the Kings last season, they will play their two games 1 week before the season is starting so they got the time to comeback and rest a little.
