4 new leagues you would like added to ehm in the future?
Ok just a bit of fun really not really expecting too much in the next version but if 4 new leagues were to become playable what would you want. Taking away licenses issues and difficulty of research what would you choose. Also put them in order of importance. There was a thread like this for FM 2005 or 6 a while a go.
Me
1) European Champions Cup/Continental Cup - Would be fantastic once you win your respective euro league you have something else to try and win and become the best in Europe.
2) Swiss League - Well the richest league in Europe arguably well up there with teh top russian teams. licenses were almost certainly the barrier before.
3) Asian Hockey League - Would be great to see the game expand beyond the current 2 playable continents. This league is the cream of asia and getting bigger names in all the time.
4) English Premier league - Now the BNL has gone this has taken over as the 2nd strongest league in UK. Teams in this league may be able to sign brits over some elite teams if tehy promise them more ice time to help their development and there is two way contarcts with elite which would be interesting from EPL perspective. Also there are hopes of having an FA cup style of tournament for teams in elite and EPL next season.
only just missing the list was the Italian League.

Personally, I would rather get better researched leagues than more leagues so I'm not sure I would want any more yet. The EPL in particular would need a lot more and better research to be included and I would guess that's true of most of the others. The only glaring omission is the Swiss league and I would definitely like to see the license for that one as it would be well researched and a good asset.
I would like to see maybe better youth leagues for current leagues, for example the English under-19s (As an example, it would not be researched well enough), so teams outside NA can develop their players better, and European regens could begin their careers earlier in junior leagues rather than appearing as very talented 17 year olds.

I agree with David. Lower divisions + Swiss league would be nice to have in the next version. But we would have problems with the research in lower divisions, as Riz once said. I don't know how realistic it is to have them in next version. The question is, do we have enough good researchers in lower divisons?

yeah would be great for lower division even in just Russia, Germany and Czech Republic but research is difficult and we can only hope more people from these places get into this great game and we can get their help.
I have a feeling EPL would have a good chance of getting in I remember metioning EPL and SNL as possible league to have playable. understandably graeme ruled out SNL as it is ameuteur league but didn't rule out EPL so i think if they could get the research it would have a good chance. It has improved a lot with the update i think before there were not really many big teams in it but then 3 BNL teams joined and have considerably raised the leagues standard, profile and following. I find myself looking up the scores and teams now that I never did before.
By the way I am working on a UK facepack which I hope to release some time in the new year it will have all the elite teams I have got nearly all them done. Well I hope most of EPL teams. Some places I cannot access their player pics to save so it is harder to find them.
Also I have permission by a photgrapher to use some of his images for the facepack should I need them. I even have some ENL teams and Dundee and Fife will be in it from SNL. Maybe more You never know but i will work with what i can get.
I have a lists of the rosters for SNL teams in the powerplay magazine so maybe when there is an update they could be put in with random stats. there are already some players in it but hopefully we can get all snl teams with real named players. I just love to have detail.

Yeah I will need to see about that. So are you saying their in game birth dates are random if that is so maybe they could be set permanent in teh editor even if not their real birthdate to accomadate for their player pics.
perhpas someone that knows more about teh editing canshed more ligh ton this. i haven't used teh editor for 2005 versioon at all so I'm not sure hwo godo i will be with it. But if I cannot do it I will ask whoever is making an update nicely if they can make it possible from ENL players etc to have fixed birth dates.
ENL south i have still to collect the pics for it I have done what I can for ENL north but harder to get player pics for there. But rest assured if the pics are on the teams official site and are accessable and not copyrighted etc I will get them.

To help, Cardiff ENL Devils pics: http://www.cardiffjuniordevils.co.uk/ENL/roster.htm
Haringey Greyhounds: http://www.haringeygreyhounds.co.uk/ then team, 2005/06 but I don't think they have any players in the database
Invicta Dynamos: http://www.invictadynamos.co.uk/ then roster
Lee Valley Lions: http://www.leevalleylions.co.uk/players/index.php they are not in the ENL according to EHM but they are in reality
MK Thunder: http://www.mkthunder.com/roster.html but they don't seem to work for me
Oxford: http://www.oxfordstars.com/portrait_seniors.html although I don't think EHM has any players for them
Peterborough: http://www.peterboroughislanders.co.uk./team.htm
Streatham: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/syihc1/enihl/roster.html
I can't find Basingstoke, Bracknell or Solent's pics on their sites, not that Solent are in the database anyway, though they are in the ENL in real life.

I agree in parts with Kidhander, Grazza and Bigz:
1) European Cups - if I could only choose one competition it would be the various Euro cups. It would be so cool to compete against foreign hockey teams.
2) Italy - We have France and GB so we should have Italy.
3) Switzerland
4) Either the USHL or NCAA - it would bring a different angle to the game, coaching college kids.
I guess the difficulty (especially with Italy and Switzerland) is finding people to research them.

What we lack is the licensing

I've mentioned this in other threads but the reason there is and will never be an NCAA in the game is due to currently having your name in a video game as a NCAA hockey player would end your eligability to play in the NCAA.
I think it's under a much wider-termed rule too something probably along the lines of "any athelete whose name or likeness is used in a non-NCAA sanctioned manner rescinds their eligabilty". This is why there is Madden and then a separate NCAA sanctioned College Football game each year and you can imagine the $$$ EA pitches the NCAA to get those rights.

Well that and EA makes a lot of money off having two games since packing both College and NFL in one game would be hard.
1.) NCAA. Now since there are licenseing issues I think you could just use the current rosters that they use and have Marquette Michigan College (Aka Northern Michigan) and that kind of stuff. I just don’t know how they would deal with players that aren’t paid yet and if SI could make a good recruitment system for Junior A hockey. It would be cool to have a league entirely based on recruiting and finding prospects in the United States and Canada.
2.) Junior A – See above same deal except with midget and high school
3.) Swiss
4.) Asian Hockey League it would be nice to add some more variety. Find the next Gretzky in Japan.
