Here is the thing about Roberto...the more action he gets, the better he is. For 55 minutes he had no action. He was horrible. The last 5 minutes he played well...and in the last minute he was outstanding. If the USA gets to the offensive zone (which they did not very often against Brodeur) then Canada will win. I know it sounds weird but if Roberto gets 20 shots he will let in 3 goals. If he gets into the game early, and it keeps up and he gets 30 shots he will let in 2 goals.

Miller is going to be one heck of a problem to solve. Both teams are playing much better hockey now than they were when they played the 1st time. Although...again...the main reason the USA beat Finland so bad was not how the USA played...but how Finland played.

So glad it is two teams in the gold medal game that GO FOR IT, and do not sit back. That Bronze medal game is going to help me catch up on my sleep. Two teams who sit back and do nothing for the whole game except dump it in, dump it out. Blech.

Slovakia--Did play real hard for 60 minutes. IT is the type of game they play. Sit back and watch, keep score close and then go crazy to try and win for 5 minutes. Rope-a-dope hockey. Tried and true unfortunately. Luckily Luongo showed up.

My question-Why in god's name was Bergeron on the ice at all in the last 5 minutes. God. He hardly saw the ice the whole game, then you have him out for 3 shifts in the last 5 minutes of a close game. Stupid mistake. And he caused one of the two goals directly, and was a partial cause on the 2nd one.

Either way....GO CANADA GO!

Thanks, Joe.

You're right on Luongo, batdad. The more shots he's faced with, the better he gets. He sure could have done better with Slovakia's first goal, but in the final moments of the game he was awesome, he kept Canada in.

Miller is hot. In his current form he is able to singlehandedly clinch the gold for USA. I hope he won't, though. Go Canada! :-D

It'll be 4 am here when the game starts. I think I'm going to need lots of coffee. :-p

I am. batdad mentioned the bronze medal game, and I was talking about that one. :-p But eventually I was too tired to watch it. I heard that Finland won, so congratulations! =D> I'll be grateful if somebody cares to write a few words about it. Who started for Finland? Bäckström or Kipper?

I'm so sad for Slovakia. :-( I was wishing a medal for Halak, he got such a good tournament. Too bad....let's wait another 4 years then. :-D

Hey, Ciryatan, i think it's Kipper who starts the game, i was really surprise by that. I've heard it would be Backstrom instead, because of the atrocious performance of Kipper against USA.

The Finnish head coach Jukka Jalonen said right after the USA game that Kipper plays also in the next game 'cause he was all alon in the net what is quite near to the truth... Our defence sucked so badly

Yeah, congrats to Finland (I mean Jokinen) for coming back. Really expected (and wanted :-D ) Slovakia to win after 3-1 to start the 3rd.

Super bummed - the Canada-USA game comes on at 1:45 here in India, and looks like no delayed or rebroadcast - although they did for the semis :(

Is it just me, or has the officiating been strangely inconsistent? and I swear, I'm not sure if I know what's offsides or not anymore.

Tokk me a while, but I've really started to warm up to the British play-by-play guys - super hilarious - in a dry way LOL

Well it's not the best solution possible to put European and North American referees to same game... The line what's accepted and not accepted is so much different :-k

Olli Jokinen and Teemu Selänne played their last games for Team Finland. OJ's retiring was real surprise :-o

I think he meant he's retired from international career. He still continues in NHL.

BTW:

Finland - Belarus
I watched the game
Result: 5 - 1

Finland - Germany
I didn't watch the game
Result: 5 - 0

Finland - Sweden
I watched the game
Result: 0 - 3

Finland - Czech Republic
I didn't watch the game because I was on cruise in Stockholm
Result: 2 - 0

Finland - United States, first period
I watched
Result: 0 - 6

Finland - United States, rest of the game
I didn't watch
Result: 1 - 0

Finland - Slovakia, first period
I didn't watch
Result: 1 - 0

Finland - Slovakia, second period
I watched
Result: 0 - 3

Luckily that strike came to an end when Finland scored 4 goals in the last period. I watched it.

Yes i thought it was that, but i just found weird the ''international retiring''. If it was from the NHL, it would be weird, he's got a couple of years in front of him.

Yeah, no matter who wins its gonna be a down as an amazing game.

Whats really annoying me is the references to the USSR/USA game in 1980 that have been made in the last few day, and probably will be for the next few days, no matter who wins, but especially so if USA wins. USA is not a team of amateurs playing against a professional team, and really does a disservice to the USA players.

Here it is!!! Canada win the gold medal!!!! New record set. :groupwave: :canada:

Wow!! What a nice overtime we got, fast action, great offense. Wow! 4 vs 4 is so exciting, I wonder what it would be to play an entire game like this. :-k Anyway, nice goal by Crosby though he was quite invisible the rest of the game.

I feel sad for Miller when i've see is face after the goal, i really like him so it's kind of sad he lose but i prefer my medal to the Canada. :-D At least he got the silver, but silver is the medal of the loser in a certain way. :-D

Oh, NOW you're a Team Canada booster :-p

Just kidding, that game had my heart going at a high BPM for most of three hours. I told my girlfriend that it counts as any exercise for the day.

Big ups to the USA squad for exceeding the expectations. Ryan Miller was the goalie of the tournament, maybe the MVP =D>

i feel sorry for Miller, he was great. The save with the glove when he had hes sight blocked on the slapper in 2nd period was amazing.

Congratulations to Canada. Well deserved.
