Very comparable to Morris in style and quality of play actually. And he's younger and cheaper...for now. I didn't mind the deal even if it cost the Bruins an extra 2nd but I really have to question Chiarelli's asset management if Seidenberg is allowed to walk. Could've just as well finished the season with Morris and save that 2nd rounder if that's the case.
Edit no way Seidenberg signs for 2m or less. We're looking at something around 3-3.5m here. Quote me on that.

Exactly, Danny! Morris wasn't bad at all on this team. I know they dealt him and acquired Seidenberg in hopes of having a little extra cap space to work a deal for a forward but it never came together. Still, they really need to try to re-sign Seidenberg.
I'd like to see them ditch Ryder's contract this summer to clear some cap space. Still, they're going to have too many defensemen. Obviously, Ference is in their plans. What about dealing Hunwick and/or Wideman? I liked what I saw of McQuaid and I've heard that Aleksandrov is ready to come over to North America. I've read very good things about this kid. I want him in the mix. And Boychuk has been pretty good since being called up. I'd like to keep him in the mix as well.

I hope they get rid of Hunwick and Wideman and re-sign both Stuart and Seidenberg. Only way for Chia to save his face now IMO. Not opposed to dump Ryder's contract either. Chara, Seidenberg, Stuart, Ference, Manchuk, McQ looks decent enough for me. All reports about Alexandrov indicate he's highly skilled and has a decent hockey IQ, but boy he's skinny. He'd get bumped off the puck by Kessel. Think he might be NHL ready as far as skill level is concerned, but he might need a year or two in Providence to adapt to the North American style and fill his frame out a bit. Seems they didn't pay attention to the physical aspect of the game in Russia at all. He's listed at what, 6'1, 175 pounds ?

I've read that Aleksandrov has actually gained a good amount of weight, still less than 200 lbs but he's not as bad as he was. That 175 was from when he was drafted. Still, a season in Providence might benefit him.Danny wrote:I hope they get rid of Hunwick and Wideman and re-sign both Stuart and Seidenberg. Only way for Chia to save his face now IMO. So NHL finally implemented new rule about blind-side hits on head.
I think Cooke's case was the engine. I'm just curious who will be the first cought by this rule and how long the ban will be.

Unfortunately, we will need to see another hit like that to know what kind of suspensions they give now. I hope it will worth it though.McQwak wrote:So NHL finally implemented new rule about blind-side hits on head.

Spacek-Booth
Clean? Not blindside, not from behind, not sure about getting arm up there in the hit. Booth looks out before Spacek arm even touches him. All reporter guys (mcguire et al) saying hit is clean....Booth has head down completely coming across bluelline. Ouch. David get your head up.
Clean hit to me.

I don't know if I should post it here but it's related to hockey so.....I don't know if you heard that Pat Burns will have an arena who gonna have is name. The point is, most of you certainly know that he's pretty sick. There isn't much time left for him.
The interview he did really make's me sad in a way, his voice is so weak now, he lost alot of pounds. He even said that he will probably not see the end of that project. But he look's so strong, I mean, he know there's not much left and it didn't seem to bother him, he got alot of integrity. This guy is amazing, maybe I feel sad but in a way I'm proud of him. The hockey world will loose one hell of a guy when he'll past away.

On a separate note, ESPN The Magazine has polled 50 NHL players on some things:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=315609
Easily my favorite part:
I also love that that moron John Tortellini was winner of "last coach you'd want to play for".

Easily my favorite part:
Ha ha ha ha ha ha, what a stupid moron loser. 30% of his own players consider him a "C" commissioner. I hope he reads that article, and it makes him curl up in a ball in the corner of his office crying like a little baby.Grade Gary Bettman should get as commish: 30% said "C"

Yes I really enjoy that poll to.
I don't know why but on RDS they wrote another thing, maybe TSN don'T want controversy. I've found funny that 42% of the players think they play with a homosexual teamate.
I don't have problems with gay peoples, it's just make me think about who can be gay in the players.

50 players. Out of 700 plus in the league. So for Bettman's "C" he got a total of....15 votes. Not exactly definitive.
But it is even better...when you go to the most overrated player and it comes up with the name Roberto Luongo. Yep...he was voted that...by 3 guys. Oops. Not exactly statistically accurate.
Hottest wife was also a lame category..was hoping for someone to say a woman I had never heard of.
TSN has had the homosexual part too. But gee what a shock. 10% of the people in the world are gay...hmm....wonder if any play hockey? Of course they do..and if you don't think so it is time to get your head out of your....
But on the other hand...was good to see that question asked. 30 years ago a reporter asks that question and gets punched in the head.
And it does not really matter who the players are that are gay. And they sure as heck are not going to say...one day when someone retires he will tell us. And we will all be shocked at who it was. If a player admits it...imagine the never ending questions he would have from reporters, the discussion every time someone saw him in the street...his private life would be nil, especially in Canada. So no way...will anyone come out of the closet. Also because the Gay Rights activists would be all over him to help their cause...and he would have no free time.
