No much worst than movie or any other star people to me.

The thing that will be different if it's because that random person will be the first in hockey to do that. It never happen in the past isn't it? So it will be normal that something need to start than calm after that. Still, there will be some idiots for sure who will be like OMG a gay in hockey! It's a sport for men and blablabla.....

For the poll Batdad don't forget that when you do a poll you don't take 2/3 of the peoples you need. When they make a poll at MTL they take like 3000 persons out of the 1.5 millions. They just need a sample to ''estimate'' what it could looks like. If they ask is the mayor's good at MTL and 1000 people tell ''No''. Still, it's just 1000 persons out of 1 500 000. So if we compare 50 to 800 players, it looks ok to me. If the number of persons isn't high enough and it make lame results like 3 persons on Luongo than just don't make the poll.

Yes..when you have 5 million people to poll from taking a small sample of 5000 is not so bad...but when you are polling a very small number of people..50...you are going to get VERY skewed results. One wingnut can drastically change how it works. You know that.

And for an NHL hockey player to get as much attention as say....a star like LiLo or Michael Jackson...think you really want that? I mean Michael is an exception but...you know what I mean. No hockey player, straight or not...would want that. That is not why they are in it.
Yeah, it likely would only be the first guy. But that person would be the first guy for a long time..because the 2nd guy would never come out when he sees what the first went through. Hell.

Yes probably. But like anything there's always the first one. Even if this looks like hell it helps a little bit. But the fact that it would be in sports can change everything.

It's not the NHL, but I am afraid for if he ever makes it there...

Jamie Koharski is, without a doubt, the WORST referee I have ever seen while attending a hockey game. JD Watt, our resident pugilist, was chasing after the puck ahead of Alex Henry. Hamilton goalie Cedrick Desjardins came out to play the puck, he and Watt make contact, which Desjardins recovers from until he realizes there's a penalty and sells back down on the ice. You'd think that maybe Watt is getting a lame interference call, until he gets a five minute major for charging and a game misconduct! Jim Playfair's reaction to Koharski is making it's way around the internet, but you can see it right here:

The game was a wash from the get go. First foray into our zone, goalie David Shantz gets knocked by Ryan White. Mask comes off, trainer has to attend to a cut, no call on the play. No real biggie, because Garth Murray got White's number and served him notice a couple of minutes later. There were also four instances of players having an extra penalty added on to their original infractions, and a few instances of unsportsmanlike conduct.

Koharski ruined a game that I otherwise was very much looking forward to seeing. Hamilton is a great team with some very talented players, especially PK Subban who played very well despite making himself hated by the Abbotsford faithful. My girlfriend and I were fed up with how bad the game had turned out, that we left about halfway to two thirds into the second period. Never leave a game early, even when Houston was slapping us around 7-1.

It is a darn shame that this guy is rising up through the leagues as a referee, simply because of who his father is.

I really don'tknow if this would fit here, but did anyone catch the Don Cherry film based on his life. He was a great NHL coach. Was on CBC, but I bet i bet you should check it out as it probably is somewhere out online. It is very interesting.

B'72 post it too in the Youtube thread. Very funny, never saw a coach getting crazy like this.

The call was also really bad. Can you remind me who's his father?

Ok, I wasn't sure. I didn't even know that he retires.

When I heard the name in the video I was like I thought he was in the NHL.

Don retired after last season, and stayed on in a supervisory role.

No confirmation if Jamie had another doughnut

I didn't saw that the Yotes got 100 points.

Really impressive team! The point leader of the team is Doan with only 53 points.....Bryzgalov is really outstanding so far and I think he could be in the race for the Vezina. Still, I think it shows us that Gretzky wasn't a good coach at all.

Not necessarily Philou. It shows that the GM figured out the young guys were not ready for as much as he (and Wayne) thought last season. maloney went out and brought in a ton of vets allowing him to not play the rookies. Still not a ton of talent....but Tippett comes in and plays a tight checking system and Bryz gets hot..and walaa. This could have happened with Wayne too (at least the vets in part)

Also...there was no way Jovo was going to have as bad a season as he did last year.

I dunno...Tippett plays that defensive system with all the vets, vs Gretz with a bunch of young kids...not sure it was the change in coach that totally did this. Think that Maloney realizing the kids were not ready has alot to do with it.

Not to say Gretz is a great coach, just saying not sure Phoenix doing well shows that he sucks rocks completely.

I think Tippet helps alot in that, but they make great addition it's true. Turris, Boedker and Thikonov who have all played last year are in the AHL right now. Better for their improvements if you ask me. Still think that Gretzky as stayed too long at PHO and maybe slow down the team.

Yeah, I watched it. I was never really a Cherry fan, but alot of his personality makes more sense now.. The movie was actually pretty entertaining. I never knew the story about his son and his illness until the movie.

Some quick thoughts.......

What the heck is wrong with Marion Gaborik? he has been held pointless in 8 out of his last 12 games during a playoff stretch run.. Torts held him to 7th (3rd line minutes) for forward minutes played against the Leafs on Saturday?

Are the Bruins, Atlanta and Rangers trying to avoid getting the last playoff spot?

Do the Vancouver Canucks really want a 1st round series with Detroit? Canucks are a two line team and Detroit has much more depth... As well, who has the bigger question mark in goal, the team with the raw rookie or the team with the struggling veteran?

It appears the Flames are missing the playoffs for the 1st time since the lockout, is it time for a even further shake up? Do the Flames put Iginla or Kipper or both up for grabs?

Does the stretch run of the Leafs playing losey and goosey reflect anything of what might be for next year, or is this just the 5th annual good stretch run for the Leafs after they were mathematically eliminated?

Will Washington's, Chicago's and Philadelphia's goaltending lead to early playoff exits?

I am suprissed you are not questioning brodeur and the devils. He has not been good lately. Once again impressed with Brian Elliot's play. If only he wasnt so ON and OFF. I gotta hope he is On during the playoffs. True test against Washington tonight.

Very good point, forgot about Martys struggles.... Who do you hope the Sens meet in the 1st round.. As a Habs fan I would not want Pittsburg, we struggle mightly against them, we were 3-1 against the Caps, but they are scarey. Probably our best matchup would be Buffalo.

The sens are pretty secured for 5th place. They will probably play the devils or pens(they are fighting for the division, looser finishes 4th). I would prefer them play the devils, as much as I hate the pens and crosby(love to see them have a first round exit to the sens) they are a really good team.

B72, did you listen to Cam's radio interview today ? Apparently he called out Wideman and Julien for giving him so much ice time and said McQuaid would be in instead of him if he wasn't injured.
