You mean like New Star Soccer but for hockey? http://newstarsoccer.newstargames.com/

Edit: Actually there is a hockey version but the development has stopped. http://stattosoftware.com/nsh/

I don't know the logistics behind it, or how hard it would be to code, but I always thought it'd be cool to see how much a player has made over the course of his career. Once he retires, you could see what he has made, and what he was worth.

As long as I don't remove expired contracts from the database it shouldn't be any problems.

I think it could be almost same like creating an own player in EHM, but instead of just watching his career, you could decide to accept or decline a contract offer, to retire or not to retire, etc.. But you wouldn't interfere how player plays in his games.

By the way, another guy at TBL started a similar project. Why don't you join forces

Thanks for the link, will be interesting to follow. He seems to be very ambitious since it's only a 3 week project, I wish him good luck.

WOW! 3 weeks? I would think 3 months might be a little tight. I hope the guy pulls it off! And if he gets enough for his project, I'd love to see him keep developing it further.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant.

Wow, good luck to him! Three weeks is extremely ambitious. Considering it took Riz and Graeme Kelly over a year working full time to create the game engine.

Yeah, I think time is the biggest enemy of any EHM attempts.

In my opinion, you'd want to capitalize on the valuable insight and experience from all the veteran EHM players... but we're reaching that point where they're all starting to move on with other things. Once they're gone, it's truly back to square one.

Yes, I fear the only way in which a true successor to EHM could come about would be if somebody worked on the game full time or if there was a small team of programmers who worked together.

I can give detailed scouting reports on every NHL player in the league (past players as well). Additionally, I can provide information on most prospects and 2010, 2011 and 2012 draft eligible prospects. When you get to that point in the process, I'd be a more-than-willing consultant to the process if needed. Good luck and thanks for your dedication to the continuation of the game!
Thanks, I am sure you can help me out a lot when that time comes.

You don't have to send anything atm, when I want help with names I want you to give them to me according to the format in the database (this is not 100% done yet), since for instance I don't know how common a name like Jukka is in Finland it is easier if the person responsible for Finland fills that in. I will let you know when it is time.

dabo wrote: The thing is there is not room to show everything, also I like the fact that some attributes and tendencies are only visible once you have scouted a player. For example, more than 8 categories in the radar chart doesn't look very good when the chart is as small as I have shown you. Perhaps I can have two radar charts in the player report, one for player types and one for additional stuff. But I am gonna have to test this, I don't want to overuse the radar chart.
Yeah I can understand how there isn't room to show everything.
I really do think that a players tendencies need to be displayed, but I think if the chart attributes, especially the player types, account for them that would probably be good.

dabo wrote:What's your take on the attribute "discipline" in the whole aggression and agitation discussion? Would it be fair to say that a player with low discipline would be more likely to respond "bad" to agitation? Or should discipline be more in terms of how likely a player is to take bad penalties etc?
I think it would be a combination of the two. A player with a high discipline rating wouldn't be as easily goaded into reacting to an agitator. He also wouldn't be as prone to taking stupid penalties. I guess maybe you could have a "temper" attribute and a "discipline" attribute if you really wanted to make them separate.

I am sorry I cannot.
OK. Then I'd suggest not putting any shading at all into the inside part of the chart. The colours you use for the chart are very bright, and the shading makes the section that actually is important seem rather faded.

Oh, and the round shape is great. Good job!

Would you care to elaborate? You mean you want the gui to be TBL blue?
archibalduk wrote:How about having a white background with the shading on top? That would make the shading stand out more. Maybe the shading could be bright green (or TBL blue: #006699)?
Well, EHM was blue so it'd be cool to continue the tradition of this colour scheme. But perhaps we could add our own spin on it by using the blue colour scheme used by TBL as it's going to be a game shaped by the TBL community. Just an idea - not necessarily a good one, however!

Training players is one important thing really sucked in EHM. Practice programs were too obscure, I never had any idea what to do so I let my head coach set the practice. This is something what really needs to be improved. So, Dabo, is it possible to get training more like in the latest Football Manager, so we could create our own unique training programs for each player, and choose how much they practice each skill, shooting, passing, checking, tactics, skating etc.

E: sorry typo

Hm, I don't agree too much. Training in FM is a mistery! And frankly it looks to me like it's way too easy to ruin layers rather than improve them on FM. Actually how many persons really play with training at FM? I think 90% either download the best schedule from SI Forums or let the General schedules. I think that the EHM approach is too simple, but I like it more than the one in FM. Maybe we could add some more things, like a specifical faceoff training. Another thing I'd love to get is having a training that increases how the team plays their normal tactics. I'd rather have my players working on playing like a team than having them training their individual skills (CCCP way) over and over again. And also having a maximus of the training allowed. Things like dunno, a 100% of global work (ignore the one you have in EHM now) in which you can have 10 different trainings at 10% or 3 at 33% and so on...

And I like blue, so I'm all for a blue color in the game

Okay, I haven't played FM too much, because I really don't know anything about strategies in football/soccer so I don't know how good/bad it really worked in FM. But if that kind of system was done correctly, it'd be much better than in EHM.

And I didn't mean, that it'd have to be 100% the same as it is in FM, but something like it.
