Finally, we're kicking off this new challenge! Hope you'll enjoy it. First step for me, finding staff and paring down the reserve list

Yes, staff is going to be a big deal in this challenge. You'll want to get staff that can really develop your young talent.

The reserve list is going to be interesting. Right off the bat we've got 61 players on our reserve list and we've got to pare them down to 50. I'm going to be releasing the rights to a lot of my Overage players. I might want to hang on to some of the more well known ones just in case they get sent back to us from their NHL teams. I wonder if that will happen though. Most of them are already assigned to the AHL affiliates, so they're less likely to be sent to us.

Not so fast my friend. THey might be assigned to AHL teams now, but this is before training camp. After that, it's anyones guess

Good point. I still dropped most of them. I just kept a small handful of OA's that I've heard of before from playing in the past.

It would be really cool if Stamkos were to be assigned, but I doubt that will happen.

A heads-up regarding your prospects. They might decline your training camp invite just to sign with some team. Once they've signed, invite them again and they'll come

Great to see a new Challenge underway, it seems very interesting! And the news image on the main page looks really cool. :-D

You might want to change the Challenge announcement on the Challenge forum, it still tells people to use the Lidas2.2EDM rosters.

Not off to a good start. Put in offers for staff and started to trim the reserve list before bed, but I didn't advance to the next day.

Nothing was saved when I quit.

Adding insult to injury, I have the please of reducing my reserve list without the pleasure of being able to scout the players. Sweet!

So far I see that this team lacks good RW. I'm going to use OAs there for sure.

I released some rights, incl. Stamkos ;)

Isn't it weird that there is no trainer with the team? Do you think we need to hire two trainers like in NHL? Generally, I don't like that part-time jobbing in OHL. I'm curious if I can run out of money in case I fill all my non-player jobs :-? Do you think we need to save money or are we free to spend as much as we want to salaries?

I'm not sure about the finances, McQwak. I don't like the part-time jobs either. I change them all to full time. It's something that could come back to bite me in the end.

It's going to take me some time to enter in all of the values but I think I'm going to use my attribute tracker spreadsheet to monitor my players' development.

Well we're going with a 3 month challenge length, so that's got to help some.

I use it, too
However, I track only attributes I'm interested in (aroun 15 total), not all.

It's just easier for me to go right down the line and enter them all in order, so I use all attributes. I also decided to add Height and Weight since these were young players who might grow. It isn't something I can affect with training but I'm curious. I think I'll enter the attributes on at the start of the game (which I just did), then on January 1st, and then it will be every July 1st and January 1st. I'm only going to track the players I have under contract.

Nice one, Manimal! I got Rhett Warrener in my test game and he was awesome. I didn't do so well in the game I started for the challenge. I don't think I waited long enough for the retired players to become coaches.
