What are the tiebreakers in the WC?

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way for Denmark to play Switzerland in one of the quarter-final games and thus someone out of the big 6-8 playing for a medal.

I'm assuming that if:

The result of the Czech. Republic vs. Canada game goes to OT

Sweden beats Switzerland

Slovakia defeats Germany in OT

then we'll see #3 Denmark vs. #2 Switzerland, but what happens if teams tie in points? Do we go to Goal Differential? Coolest Looking Jerseys? Better looking women? A penalty kick shootout?

USA barely survived relegation today against Italy. They won in a shootout 3-2 after Italy took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd, USA tied the game on a PP 5 minutes later.

Wow, it must have been close to be a relegation.

Well, they only have themselves to blame, not taking the world championships seriously. I know that this might be harsh to say, but it might have been a good thing for them to be relegated.

Slovakia 1:2 Germany
Canadad 2:3 Czech Republic

I've just watched a amazing game between Canada and Czech Republic with a lot of feelings, there was a little fight in second period between Steve Ott and Rolinek and in the end of the third period when Czech was leading with 3-1 and Vokoun is out to stop the puck behind his goal and a Canadian player steps in and simply run him over and the puck ends up at Duchene's stick and he scores. After the goal a czech player tackles the canadian player who checked Vokoun and another canadian player jumps that czech player. But they finish the match without anymore fights, but after the game is over there's two fights between Corey Perry and someone and Rene Bourque and someone. And during this chaos a czech fan runs out on the ice and kneels on the ice and points his fingers towards the canadian bench, but Rachunek grabbed him and almost lifted him off the ice. It will be interesting to see if there's going to be some suspensions after this.

Yeah, tell me about it. Canadians just don't know loosing.

See what they did in 1997 in Helsinki http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viKrhfXQOmY
If they do it in NHL, they get suspended immediately. On intl rinks, they have no fear.

Switzerland 0:2 Sweden Johan Harju! :joy:

This goal shouldn't have been allowed though, Sweden was too many players on the ice, but the referees didn't see it.

Switzerland 0:3 Sweden Victor Hedman! :joy:

What? That is hilarious McQwak. Ever seen Steve Ott play? He does this on a regular basis. It is part of the way things go. Oh, and Rene Bourque fights a fair bit, and makes a good mid round fantasy hockey pick because of it. So does Perry. But the rubbish at the end of the game was bad I agree. What Ott did is normal Ott. Not a chicken, just plays like a clown. He will fight. And no he would not have been suspended for what he did.

And since when do guys who are ruled to have fights in international hockey not get suspended? Wow. Learn the rules.

Hot game: Pihlström's hard hit to Malkin, Kovalchuk revenges it to Hietanen, who brokes his arm, Jokinen revenges to Gonchar by hitting hard to head and much more.

Oh, and the result is 3-0 to Russia.

Ott shouldn't be suspended for what he did, I meant what happened Canada scored 2-3 and what happened after the game, but Czech might also get players suspended.

Almost olympic Russian roster and totally different (excl. Perry) Canadian roster. Let's see if another Canadian team can win over Russian superstars.

Go Canada Go.

And, of course, Stop Finland Stop :-D

Why everybody says this? That hasn't been true for a long time. When was last CAN-RUS final on some tournament?

I can't believe that one of these teams will play semis and will be 4th overall.

Because I think these two teams are two best national teams in the world. But this year it might not be true as Canada has not been impressive at all during this championship while Russia has won all of their games.
