Apparently the guys that made NHL 2k6 (2kSports) are under investigation by Microsoft due to the number of complaints about their buggy game. The XBox 360 version is virtually unplayable in the franchise mode due to a random bug that causes the game to freeze. Thankfully the XBox version's bug has a workaround.
We're working up a draft e-mail so everyone can send the same e-mail to 2kSports. Maybe this will make them provide a response - although I doubt it. If anyone is interested in sending the mail, I'll post it in this thread at a later date.

....yeps, in the NHL 2k5 game there already where a biig bug who freezed the franchise mode!!!archibalduk wrote:Apparently the guys that made NHL 2k6 (2kSports) are under investigation by Microsoft due to the number of complaints about their buggy game. It seems that it was caused when u have more than 3 guys in Injury Reserve....then the game crashes....to prevent that u needed to play without injuries!!! That decreases the reality of the game, sadly!!
I hoped that they would fix it for 2k6 though....

Just tried out NHL 2k6. Let's get this straight: It took them six months to convert the game to PAL. So why in that time didn't they update the rosters?! They're still from the beginning of the season, i.e. Thornton and LaPointe are still at Boston
The graphics are good but not great. The cut scenes are impressive although I noticed one that froze (but I could skip it by pressing a button on the controller). The lack of ESPN licence this time around means that the presentation isn't that pretty.
The gameplay is what really shines. It's by far better than any EA NHL game I've played (I've played from 1997 to 2004). It's still not like a real game of hockey but it's getting there. You can't easily check players and the overall gameplay seems to be quite gritty like NHL games are, as compared to EA's series. There's dozens of controls (it's going to take forever to learn
). You can customise the game in many, many different ways (e.g. do you want the puck and/or players to collide with the ref in game).
One thing that happened in the game I played was that the opposing goal put his glove on the puck to freeze it but changed his mind and decided to pass to a team mate. He tried passing the puck but was pokechecked by the guy he was passing to and the puck went into the net. I hope it was a one-off.
Overall opinion: Although I've only played one game so far, I think it's going to be the best hockey game I've ever played. It's just a shame that it's a little buggy and the rosters weren't updated.

I'm enjoying it. I've played quite a lot of games now but my opinions haven't really changed since my initial ones.
The gameplay is certainly it's strongest point. It actually feels like a game of hockey rather than EA's arcade version. As I said, the gameplay much grittier and rough like it should be.
The cut-scenes aren't anything that special and I don't think there's that great a variety of them. It can get a little repetitive. Having said that, there are a lot of little things that make the game fun. There's a wide range of celebration cut-scenes, tho.
The rosters are miles out of date. They don't even have Ovechkin, Phaneuf or Crosby
What really gets me is that they have loads of extra classic teams (such as the Jets, 97 Rangers, 90 Bruins, etc.) but most of the players don't have their real names. Instead, they're just called "1 Centre", "2 Centre", etc. I really don't understand why they didn't use their names (maybe licensing?). Luckily there's some threads on other Forums that help you update and correct the rosters. If you get the game, I'll point you in the direction of them.
The more I play the game, the more I realise how unimpressive the graphics are. Maybe it's just because my TV is only about 16" and I can't see the details much.
Oh, and the commentary is appauling!
I know this all sounds rather negative but the gameplay makes up for it

Can you get updated rosters for the PAL version? I'll have to get a max drive...
If so that is another thing I need to buy online this week when my debit card arrives
(typically my mother made sure that I put £1,500 of my heady £1,700 bank balance into an ISA before my card arrived
) Still, I have another pay day on

I finally got it yesterday...
First impressions..
1) Graphics are much improved- the cut-scenes are good- epsecially at the beginning of the game. Also, the in game graphics look much better than last time.
2) the menu presntation is a lot cleaner and esier on the eye.
3) I like the look of the new pro-comtrols- I think that with practice they could turn out ot be really useful.
4) The commentary is shocking-the delivery is stilted and monotone, and is especially noticeable as the lines are mostly lifted straight from 2k5...It is a shame, as I believe that the last game's commentary was one of the best anywhere....

I actually now think that it is a vast improvement on 2k5 having played it more. The smooth animations are my favourite addition...
Archi- I am playing with these slider settings for a supposedly more realistic gameplay...

Have you had any luck with the PAL rosters/creating rookies? Also, where is the list of the classic team's players real names please?
