Re: Eastside Hockey Manager Early Access - Wishlist
I'm sure some (maybe all) of these things have already been mentioned.
* Being able to negotiate contracts with players. As it seems today, the player either accepts or declines to extend a given offer. Also appears that creates a problem where some (maybe most) players won't come back to the "table". Had this with Hayes on Florida during/after year 1. Demanded more than I was willing to give and won't think about a contract anymore. Seems players won't accept to lower their demand with more than a "tick" maybe 2 at most or they will turn it down.
* Seperate defensive pairing to offensive lines. I want to give my D-men a seperate amount of ice time/tactics compared to the actual lines, they don't always play together as it is so I assume the game sort of does the ice time it self by giving 1st D-pair more than the rest? This also has had me wondering, surly personal tactics is the way to go for D-men as it is now? Otherwise they play different ways depending on line they are on = screws up their play?
* Line matching. Need more options! I want to be able to match my 1st line to oppositions 3rd line and still have my 4th matching up with their 1st without having to throw around my players on my lines.
* Increasing salary cap. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems stuck year after year?
* Able to get to your AHL team easier. I might be missing something though. But on EHM07 you could access your AHL roster in GM Front Office, can't find it anymore.
* 3D game engine. I have a hard time watching the blobs.
It worked in FM for me but with the sticks in hockey it just feels weird somehow. Not asking for much, FM isn't exactly stunning but it works for this kind of game. Don't even care about having fans and a proper arena, I play it without sound so it does nothing for me anyway.
* Other then this just simply balancing up the game would be good, too many goals & penalties as it is now. Fixing the schedual (hear it will be), poor Ducks had 12 games in 16 days
Needless to say they tumbled during that period. Wish All-Star Game would pick current seasons best performers.
EDIT: * See players development like in FM. Arrows show which attributes go up/down over time, makes it easier to see when a player get better or worse, maybe even having some sort of tracking system that shows changes since the start of the game? Which actualy brings me to a quick question: As it is now, do players get better all the time or is there a time of year (like in EA NHL) where players make a bigger jump in attributes?

Even if players don't want to negotiate they will often still sign a contract. Quite often RFA's that want to big a contract will sign for a lot less after July 1

There are a lot of good wishes and I wish in addition that North American teams can borrow contract players to Europe and European teams can borrow contract players in North America. (Eg. Esa Lindell has a contract with the Dallas Stars, but playing in Pori Ässät. Or San Jose Sharks wants to send the player's to play in Europe, like Nikolai Goldobin to Helsinki IFK).

It's possoble to send a player out on loan as an NHL GM. Not sure how you can actually sign a player on loan when you play with a Euro team thoughEkku74 wrote:There are a lot of good wishes and I wish in addition that North American teams can borrow contract players to Europe and European teams can borrow contract players in North America. Re: Eastside Hockey Manager Early Access - Wishlist
There is my wishlist:
I played Football Manager 2000-2015 - for over 15 yrs - & what i liked the most about the game was the World Cup & all the other international competitions was totally playable so u could manager any country so i hope that EHM EA goes the same way - that is i hoped the IIHF World Championship DivisionS II & III will be included & be playable as ice hockey got fans in all countries yes even in South Africa and all the other "minor" ice hockey playing countiries. I wish that u can managered any minor country playing in lower levels of IIHF World Championships which will be fun trying to get your country to the next division or if the main World Championships as it will be authentic to to the real competition & u might even find good players in these nations.
Keep the good work up guys

Was just thinking today while I was trying to find a club willing to take on one of my players. Would it maybe be a good idea to make it possible to flip through teams in the trade screen (sort of like EAs NHL) to easier find who is more interested in the player you are trying to trade away? Makes it especially good to use when you aren't really after a certain player but just need to dump a player to save cap or get a low pick back.

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager Early Access - Wishlist
I'd like to echo this. I've always thought that captaincy felt a bit meaningless in EHM given how easily and unceremoniously captains can be named, dropped, and/or changed. This is especially true when it comes to injuries where you have to pick someone who's in the lineup.Mufred wrote:- As people have said, move the captain selection out of the tactics section. You choose your captain and assistants before the season and then (again, like in FM) have a list of players who takes over an 'A' if a player is injured. And the option to have three A:s and no C.
Like the others, I'd like to see captains named before the season, and then those positions holding some importance.

Just some notes I've been taking while playing...
- ability to assign Scout from within his profile
- expanded Tactics (ice time)
- view Training Camp stats in Player Profile (or, denote Tryout players in Scrimmage Stats)
- negotiate GM contracts (time/salary... rather than being flat out fired, your contract as GM could expire and not be renewed)
- add "Assign to my team" option in Scouting
- Custom Scouting Reports (make your own report card for players, saved with the other reports from your scouts)
- Player Profile pics - TeamName.png for entire team ... be able to place one .PNG file in the directory to act as the player pic for an entire team
- Periodic report from Head Scout summarizing all Scout Assignments & Updates
- more control of Training Camp (when/where, scrimmages, drills)
- more feedback from players/Asst Coaches on practice schedules
- Weekly practice reports from Asst Coaches
- customizable Depth Chart
- change league formats (ie, ties in the NHL)

This would actually be a very cool featurehockeysauce wrote:- Custom Scouting Reports (make your own report card for players, saved with the other reports from your scouts)

In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing it go one step further to include staff, and even teams.

You can just "offer to all", then sort through the replies in your mailbox.saberhagen83 wrote:Was just thinking today while I was trying to find a club willing to take on one of my players. I wish there was a hotkey or easier way to switch between GMs in the game. Sorting down the dropdown to get to the GM submenu just to switch to my farm team GM is kinda annoying.

I'm not sure it works all that well though, unless it's changed since EHM07. In that game I did just that and got no response but was still able to get like a low draft pick back when I went in manually to trade the player away.Richie Daggers Crime wrote:You can just "offer to all", then sort through the replies in your mailbox.saberhagen83 wrote:Was just thinking today while I was trying to find a club willing to take on one of my players. I would love to see a Player overall rating for Offence and Defence on the roster page.
Just save time to go in and look at every player 20 attributes to see where there at.

I don't have the game in front of me, but doesn't that just bring you to your farm team as your current GM? I run 2 GMs, one on the main and one on my farm. So if I'm in Main GM, if I use the arrows and switch, it just brings me to the farm team roster screen as Main GM. I want to actually switch GMs, preferably with one click/key.Satyr wrote:

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager Early Access - Wishlist
The biggest suggestions for me so far:
1. The arrows on the player profile showing the attribute changes. Don't care how it is done, could be just the colors like you see when you look at the player in the practice screen on attributes and can see what is going up and down...or could be arrows beside the rating.
2. Anything almost to do with scouting.
3. Something to change the way scouting is done in game. And to give all staff ability to go watch and scout other games.
4. Probably a few others I Forget right now as am just waking up

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager Early Access - Wishlist
Put this on the SIGames forum as well:
My "wishlist", as it were (in no particular order):
1) Make rules and CBA's editable. Not only would it allow for more replay-ability (making it harder to get tired of playing, even after years), but it would make it easier to modify for the geeks like me who love to create historical files or other wacky leagues. I suppose it might be unlikely, especially if this becomes a yearly franchise again, as it would make buying the new one each year less necessary, but even just a barebones rule options page would improve it, IMO.
2) Make it an option to name permanent captains and/or to dress 3 assistant captains. I know it was really annoying in EHM07 where I had to name someone captain when Mats Sundin was scratched (preseason or due to injury). Most NHL teams IRL name captains who they don't replace when they're out of the lineup or don't even have a captain in the first place. I find it annoying that we have to name a captain for every game (and, to a lesser extent, not having to name 2 assistant captains like most real leagues do).
3) Would like to have an "add entire page to shortlist" option for when viewing roster pages. It can be incredibly tedious and time-consuming to add a page of 20-40 players to the shortlist one at a time by right clicking and then left clicking, especially when you get confused and lose your spot and have to check back to see who's already added. As an addition to this, the auto-add to shortlist triggers (inquire in trade, invite to training camp, offer a UFA a contract) can also get quite annoying, as most of the time these triggers occur for players who should already be scouted.
4) An option to set training schedules or "triggers" so that players automatically change when certain conditions are met (for example, if a player's condition goes below a certain percentage, place them on "rest", or if a certain attribute reaches a certain level or drops, place them on a corresponding training program). Probably complex, but this is a wishlist.
5) In-game view changes:
7) Also I'm sure this is being worked on tirelessly, but adding more leagues will only improve the quality of the game. I, for one, am finding this game less enjoyable than 07 due to the fact that there's only 5 countries to choose from instead of the 8-10 we had with 07. Especially the British and German leagues.
There's more I'm sure I'm forgetting. I'll add if/when I think of them.

5) In-game view changes:
- Make saving individual line tactics an option (as in, save the 1st line only), or at least make it possible to swap an entire line to another line (ie: swap line 1 to line 2).
- Make it possible to actually be the coach and change lines on the fly (and, if I'm being extra greedy, create a system where you can give players motivation or pointers on the bench). Would make it more interactive and reduce the frustrations when the coach, whether you have one or not, puts out the line you don't want to be out at a particular time.
- Probably will happen, but make the player icons in the game more varied. Right now, it looks like there's 3 templates: face to the left side of the rink, the top of the rink or fall down. It makes it look really silly on the faceoffs (is the road team mooning the home team?
) and when the goalie makes a save on the bottom of the screen by turning away from the shooter. The goalie's stick also seems to be placed similarly to a skater's (to his side instead of in front). Obviously this is low priority.

1. I Believe now that rules are part of the database, once we have an editor they WILL be editable at least within the rule sets. SO that one I think you can check off. Caps as well....maybe need save game editor to change from year to year in a game, but again,,,,,is a waste of time since salaries ON THE WHOLE ARE STATIC.
2. YEs this one is a good idea. As Stinson suggested out of tactics screen and name at start of year. ANd if injured...3 alternates.\
3. LOL yes...except I would never use it, because I hardly ever use my short list. Just for the draft.
4. no nothing automatic. Have to do it ourselves. That is the point. No nee to set up training for 5 months from now or whatever. But....notification that they had improved in some way would be cool.
5.a Already there if you are coaching. Just go into your tactics and change them....and if you want to have other 3 lines the same and different from line 1, just set them that way. Not sure what you are asking here.
b ON the fly. You can, just hit pause and move guys from line to line.Coach tips on bench--cool idea, except this is a manager game and taking time to do this does not seem to fit with makin the game as great a manager game as possible. At least for now.
c. Eventually this might happen, but again...want a solid manager game before I worry about on ice graphics.
This game is well on its way to being able to spend time on some of these smaller things, but I would think to get trading AI, user interface, draft AI scouting things done and all managerial things done comes first. ANd manager interactions with media as well as different playable leagues and interactions.
6. Yeah more line matching is cool. Except again...that is coaching, not managing so it can wait.
7. ABSOLUTELY

Trading needs to fixed. It's difficult to make specific trades and it's even harder when you don't know what the other GM is thinking.
The scores and stats are ridiculous. In one season Anze Kopitar was around a +85...come on.
Hitting seems to be way down in the game. I usually set my teams to be physical. I draft players who play physical. With EHM2007 I would average between 25-30 hits per game. I'm lucky to get 10. League leader, in the same season as Kopitar's bloated +/- lead with around 115 hits.
I think they took away too much from the game play. I don't really think they needed to change as much as they did. Honestly I would've liked to have seen an editor with the ability to add at least two more teams to the NHL.

Just got reminded of one of my peeved on HF Boards---the fact that you cannot hire another staff member from an NHL team. I get not being able to sign the Head Coach away or even the GM....but darn I should be able to hire A Coaches as a H Coach, scouts as assistants....etc.

-When I "Go on Vacation" I really wish I wouldn't fire my coach all the time.
-Also, "on vacation" I'd like to have the simulation stop if I get a trade offer, injury, player on waivers etc. (and also the ability to select which of these I stop for)
-All-star game, trade deadline, draft day all should show up on my calendar.
-When I'm on vacation, it should show my team's record, instead of me having to catch a glimpse if they happen to be at the top of the schedule
-is it just me or if I draft a European player, I have 1 year to sign him? I don't always have the space on my AHL team. Would like to leave them on their Euro Clubs
-i wish I had more control over my minor league affiliates. Should be able to hire personnel for those teams and set the team's lines
-teams need to rotate in their back-up goalie a lot more. My goalies should rotate when I'm on vacation

I'd like to second both of the above points.capnbuh wrote: -i wish I had more control over my minor league affiliates. Should be able to hire personnel for those teams and set the team's lines

The goalie issue was one of the annoying things I remember from 2007. Plus, it also relates to the first point about control over the minor league teams. When dealing with the minor league teams, the biggest issue I had was also with the goalies, in terms of the young goalies I want to develop getting sufficient playing time, or being able to send them to a lower league at all. Especially for goalies but in general, I find it frustrating that I cannot send more players to the ECHL team. Sometimes I have players not ready for the AHL but past junior who I'd like to send there, and as with the NHL the ECHL is a great way to find playing time for goalies. But, so often I get the 'no space available' message.
I think there may be ways to fix this with the editor, but it would be great if they game took care of it.
I will have more items to add, but I'll wait until I've played a little more - I just happened upon the points above.
