Updating the history in Manimal v4.1 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Welcome to The Blue Line! Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate you taking the time to write that - particularly as it is not your first language (your English is perfect, by the way). It is always nice to see new faces on the site who share our passion for hockey and EHM.

I'm not really sure about how long it will take to finish the research. We've got a several users who are doing a fantastic job in researching the histories and we're certainly making very fast progress. You can see in this list which teams we have completed (they are highlighted in blue) and which teams remain (they are in black, red or green). I think we will get the teams completed soon (hopefully before March) but then it will depend on when Manimal has his part of the updating complete. We're all working as quickly as we can, and when we do have an estimated release date, we'll let everybody know.

I'll take Edmonton and Islanders.

Updated list:

Just to clarify: When researching player career histories for a team, you should go by the team's roster in Manimal v4.0 and not the current real life rosters. We are looking at all contracted players and not just those currently on the NHL 23 man active roster, etc.

To find all contracted players in the Editor, you will see them in the far right hand column in the Staff History Menu. If you're using the spreadsheet method, you will find the team's roster in the Player_list.xls file.

The reason for this is to avoid two users researching career history for the same player because this would result in duplicate entries in the game.

In order to ensure that we get each league complete, I think we should concentrate on teams based in the following leagues to start with: NHL, AHL, ECHL, OHL, QMJHL, German DEL, Russian KHL, Slovak Extraliga and Finnish SM-Liiga. Once we have covered all of those teams, we can decide whether we want to end the project or perhaps research a couple more leagues.


RED = This team is available for research.
GREEN = Data researched and/or entered into the Editor.
BLUE = Archi has received the data and imported into the Manimal Rosters.

I have spoken with Manimal and we have agreed that the project will come to an end once all of the leagues we've listed are complete. So we're just looking to finish off those teams that users have already claimed and those that are listed in red.

I will then put all of our histories into the main database and this will allow Manimal to finish off his roster update. At this stage we don't yet have an estimated release date but we'll let you know when we do.

Good to know. I have the UHL 'done' in a spreadsheet, just importing them into the Database when I get the chance to, maybe by the wned of the weekend, if not for sure by the end of next week.

I'm having difficulties with finding the Germany junior leagues and teams from the database. Should we only add the history concerning clubs found in the database, or what?
Or maybe someone with more knowledge about German hockey scene should take over those DEL teams instead...?

If the team doesn't exist in the game then set it to _BLANK.

If the league doesn't exist then set it to the British Sekonda Ice Hockey Superleague Yugoslav Cup. Then when you email your research to me, let me know and I will make them blank for you (I accidentally missed a _BLANK option for the leagues).

There's no British Sekonda Ice Hockey Superleague in the list. If I select it on the main page, the club field is empty when entering the modify history page. There might be some cases where the team actually exists in the database, but the name is different than what is used on stats sites. Since I'm not that familiar with German leagues, there might (and will) be some mistakes. If that is not going to be the end of the world, and no one else is going to research those, I will take the rest of the DEL.

Sorry, I think I filtered out some of the defunct leagues. You could set it to the Yugoslav Cup instead.

With regards there being the odd mistake, it's not the end of the world. If anybody knows better then they can highlight the mistakes following the release of the v4.1 rosters. I'll be starting a mistakes/omissions thread following the release of v4.1 because there will inevitably be the odd mistake here and there.

Ok, I'll take Augsburg, Berlin and DEG Metro Stars. They seem to have mostly older journeymen in their rosters, so it's quite easy to fill their histories.

I sent the file with rest of the del teams researched. There are a couple of players with some seasons marked to Yugoslavian cup competition, and also a few players that I couldn't find stats prior to 2008-2009 season.

So, we are now out of available teams, but if someone is having a hard time with the research, or feels like giving up a team, I'm willing to do some more...

I can't find the W-L-T stats for Anders Nilsson when he played in the J20 and J18 leagues in Sweden. I've found everything else for him but those. Maybe someone with better knowledge of Swedish leagues can help me out? If not, I'll just leave them as 0.

I had to leave quite a lot of the stats of especially goalies to zero. Some of them has only games played listed, as I really couldn't find any more detailed stats.
I hope that those will be fixed once these rosters get released, and people get to point out the missing and erroneus stats - and hopefully provide a link to stats, or fill those in themselves...

The WLT records from the past are very hard to come by in Swedish Leagues. It seems that stat hasn't really been kept.

I've received a great deal of emails over the past couple of days with much of the outstanding research. Thanks to everybody for completing and emailing it to me.

I'll try and find some time this week to add it all to the database. There's a bit of a delay in me doing this because I'm trying to complete my ECHL and EIHL research.

We're very nearly there!

I've been through much of the research and have added to the database. You'll see from the list higher up this thread that we now have the Finnish SM-Liiga complete and are very close with many other leagues too.

I still need to add some research for some teams from the Czech league, QMJHL and UFAs. This involves a bit more work to import them (because they were done via the spreadsheet method) and so I'll do these tomorrow.

I've just been finishing off my ECHL and EIHL research ready for the final phase before I import it (I have to add team and competition IDs to each entry - a very time consuming job). I thought the Y/N listed under the Playoffs column in Gige's research indicated that those entries related to the playoffs. However I've figured out I've misunderstood this - it actually means that the player played in the playoffs but the stats actually refer to the regular season. I should have noticed this earlier. This means I'll have to go back through each of the ECHL players' stats, find the playoff stats for each season and add them to my spreadsheet. This is easily going to set me back at least half a week (so I won't be finished until maybe next week or the following weekend). So frustrating - I effectively have to go back over my ECHL research for each of the ten teams again...

I haven't heard back from Myhthrell and so I'm freeing up his two teams (Nashville and Milwaukee). Dinamo Riga is also now available for researching.
