Hello!

i now will try again writing of my experiences in ehm. comments and suggestions always welcome

i will be an austrian former minor leaguer and will start with Orli Znojmo in the "Austrian league" and try to walk my way up until coming to the NHL. I don't think it will be possible. I am playing with an edited Manimal 4.2 roster and i am hoping that it will work.

Today i got the chance to take over Orli Znojmo in the Austrian league. I hope i can meet the expectations.

A first look on the team is distressing though. No good goalie, just one good forward with Marek Uram who is a little old allready.

Top priority will be to get a number 1 goalie and a line 1 center.

Okay preseason is over and we got a few good players:

we presend you our new goaltender, the starter Lubos Horcicka 32 years old. Bought for just 5.000 €. He has played 99 games in Czech top division in his live. No apperance in the NHL though.

Defencemen:

Martin Richter bought for 6.000 €. 33 years old a veteran as well. In his life he has played 82 games in the AHL recording 10 points. We think he is an important addition to our defense.
Jan Vodrazka signed as UFA. With 34 he is even older than Richter. Looks like we are an old team. He has played 192 games in the AHL recording 17 points. He will be the anchor of our defense.

Forwards:

Karel Mosovsky is a hard hitting 30 year old winger who was bought for 14.000 €. He has made his ecperience in the AHL as well playing 113 games for Rochester scoring 17 points. Points is not his big side, but he is a good defensive forward.

Jaroslav Kristek can play all forward positions which makes him very valuable. He is 31 years old, bought for 14.000 € as well. In 125 games for Rochester in the AHL he recorded 49 points. Looks like we got a very able forward here.

Milan Kraft is the first player with a big name for us besides Uram. We payed another 14.000 € for 31 year old Center. He has played 207 games in the NHL for Pittsburgh. He recorded 82 points there. He will be a cornerstone of our offense.

Richard Zednik, the UFA signed a 2-year deal with us. That makes us really happy. We consider the 35 year old winger a big star, though old. 579 NHL games for the Capitals and the Canadians with 299 points make a point.

Pavel Faksa is the most astonishing new member. We were surprised he signed with us. The 17 year old center is allready one of the top guys here. But we fear he will only be around until he is drafted at the end of the year. He was ranked 25th place by ISS.

All in all we think we have the pieces that can lead us to the playoffs.

1st of January is here, time for a first look upon ourselves

we are performing far better than expected. 38 games played and we are on position 1 of the league 23 wins and 3 wins in shootout were enough we have 40 points advantage to the first tem that's not in the playoffs.

You youn gstar Faksa is playing on a very high level. He is watched by 5 NHL clubs. Due to his time with Czech U-20 national team he only played 33 games. But in these 33 games he recorded 9 goals and 32 assists (41 points) which puts him on place 1 in the team and place 5 on the league. My best goalscorer is Richard Zednik who scored 19 goals along with 15 assists. Our new number 1 Horcicka plays a strong season of course ... 4 Shutouts 21-9-2 record with 92 % saves.

By the way ... in the midseason ranking of ISS Faksa is allready on place 11

After the regular season we are still sitting on place 3 despite struggling heavily since 1st January. In the first playoff round we will meet Graz which seems a good one for us as we won all 5 games against them in the regular season.

Most Bodychecks were dealt by Milan Kraft (176) most penalty minutes got Vodrazka (120). Our starting goaltender Horcicka saved 91.9 % of the shots recording 5 shutouts along the way.

In the farm team the best scorer has been Antonin Boruta (23 years old) 33 points in 43 games

So the season is over. Unfrtunately Graz was too strong for our struggling team - 4:1 we were eliminated. The Champion in our league was KHL Medvescak who beat the dominating regular season team Dornbirn 4:0 in the finals.

Pavel Faksa finally was drafted by the Islanders in round 1 (9th overall) AND was voted by the fans as player of the year. We fear he will not play another season for us, though he still has contract. Also a few other players will have to be replaced, as they wont want to stay.

So the new season starts

A new season is about to start and we had a bit to regroup. A few players werde traded away, A lot of players wouldn't sign with us again - that put us in the position to acquire new players to fill in the spot. A quick overview:

Traded away

7 players were traded away. Only one of them played regulary last season - Paul Crowder who is now part of Morzine Avoriaz in the French Magnus league

not signed again

most of them didn't want to sign with me. The best of those players are: Mike Danton, Burke Henry, Jan Hranac and Peter Pucha.

new guys

this led us to scan the market for new talent and we found a few very nice additions. Last season he played in the first czechoslovakian league for Trinec 51 games (10 points - 46 PIM). We feel he will be a top player in our defense for years to come.


transfers:

Martin Lojek was bought for 100.000 €. He is a 27 year old czech defender who can throw punishing checks.

Jan Eberle has joined our team for 30.000 €. We wanted to get him last season, but didn't succeed. This season it worked. The Cech player is only 23 years old, with a good wrist shot. Last season he was active for Kladno in the second level of cechoslovakian league. (50 games - 35 points). We believe he will be important for our offense, as we definetly need more options for scoring.


UFA signings

Jan Kopecky 33 year old hard hitting czech winger is a very strong player. Last season he played for Bremerhaven and scored 45 points in 50 games in 3rd level Alpenliga.

Tyler Scofield is a canadian hard hitting winger and 28 years old. I like his playing style, so when he was released to UFA i just had to step in. Last season he only played 2 games for Klagenfurt and scoring no points. He will definetly have a better season this year.

Joonas Rönnberg is another hard-hitting defender. The finnish 29 year old player was active in Scandinavian 3rd division team Leksand. That's a pretty strong team so playing 30 games for them means something. (6 points, 24 PIM)

Jan Horacek is a 33year old veteran from the cech republic to anchor our blue line. Last season he played in the Italien Serie A for Ritten. There he played 42 games (19 points, 92 PIM)

Pavel Kasparik was the replacement for Danton just a lot better. Okay he is also a very old player, 33 years. He will probably be one of our Centers. Last season he played in the czechoslovakian top division 43 games and only registering 12 points. we expect him to produce better in Znojmo.

Robin Soudek - yes a young and strong player ... 21 years old from the czech republic. He was drafted 2012 in the 4th round. So for him as for Faksa it may be that we won't have them for long. But we can hope. Last season he played in the WHL for Victoria 72 games - 46 goals, 68 assists, 114 points.

But we also have bad news to present to you. The player who earns 15 % of the total salary is injured. Marek Uram is out for 4 months. That's not nice.

Again it's 1st january and we look to make the playoffs easily once more. as we are sitting comfortably on 1st place. EC Graz 99ers were the biggest surprise as they lost in the first games a lot. For me they are the strongest opponent as they got a few highly skilled players. Some even known across the pond. Unterluggauer, Kyle Calder, the Geier twins and Alexandre Daigle for example. Especially Calder was weak at the beginning of the season.

For our team we have a lot of players around 25-30 points. No one standing out though. Pavel Faksa and Robin Soudek missed games as they were in training camps in the NHL. Faksa also missed a few games as he was part of the U-20 national team of Czech republic (as well was Beranek who is still playing for our youth team)

We believe this season is OUR season and we want to take home the cup. We have to cope with lot's of injuries though. But as my former mentor Tie Conne would say ... that's part of the game.

We made a solid finish as we finished 3rd. The downside is we will meet the defending champion in the first round of the playoffs. Against Medvescak we won 4 games and lost 2 games during the regular season. We still believe Graz although only finishing 7th has a good shot for the cup.

Most surprisingly here is Jan Eberle as he only played on line 4 and the second PP Line. He earned a spot in our team definetly.

Game 2 lost ... in shootouts. We fighted back hard and made the equalizer with only 43 seconds to play. But the defending champion showed their power once more. Loss in shootout is never nice.

Game 3 was a shootout ... we shot Medwescak out of their own arena like there was no tomorrow. Result 5-1



Game 4 was completly different as we were not able to beat Robert Kristan a single time ... series is now at 2-2 even. It is very close against the defending champion. Simply playoff time.



A great game brings us the lead in the series ... we ar only one win away of the next round. Our devasting checks were key in this game. And Kristan had not had his best day.



As could have been expected we go to game 7 as we could not win in Zagreb. We were dominated, maybe the injury of Kopecky played a certain role there.



And we succeeded. Game 7 won in overtime by a goal by Richard Zednik (he scored 5 goals in this series, pretty impressive)

In the semi-finals wie will meet the 2nd seeded Klagenfurt AC. I think it will be a very close game once more. unfortunately we have two of our top defenders (Rönnberg and Horacek) suspended. It will be a great meeting nonetheless.

Oh well losing 2-3 after a 2-0 advantage is ugly. Really.



Doesn't look too good. We did not have a real chance in this game. Now we are down 2-0 and have to turn the tide in Znojmo.



YES. We are back thanks to an overtime goal of ... you guessed it .... Richard Zednik. He is our lif guarantee as it seems. After being down 0-2 early we made a great comeback



it's getting hard again ... we are down 1-3 in the series. and Klagenfurt is looking very strong



We are not dead allready ... we still live. Thanks to another over-time win due to one more deciding goal of Richard Zednik.



Okay it is over ... but we fighted till the end. We had a great season, but we have to cope with the loss of Pavel Faksa and probably our starting keeper Horcicka as he didn't want to sign a new contract with us

Klagenfurter AC won the finals against Dornbirn 4-1. So it is the secon final in a row that Dornbirn lost.

News from the league .... Blackwings Linz signed a old big star ... Todd Bertuzzi signed with Linz.

What players left us for the beginning of the new season? Only two players, but both were key players the past seasons. Lubos Horcicka played 89 games in the last two seasons and 61 of them. He also recorded 8 shutouts, The other one is young star Pavel Faksa who played 88 games for our team, scoring 24 goals and 56 assists for 80 points. Faksa has signed with NHL team New York Islanders, while Horcicka is now playing for HC Pardubice in the Czech and Slovak premier League.

In january we bought norway player Tommy Kristiansen (24 years) from swedish top team HV71. In 16 games he scored 2 goals and 2 assists and had 67 Bodychecks. We believe he is a great defensive forward who will help us in the future.

So now to the new players for this season. We only got three new players. We feel that this is enough for us.

From free ageny we signed Michal Barinka, 29 year old czech defender. He has played 9 games in the NHL and 153 games in the AHL (29 points). The last two seasons he has been playing for Fribourg. We think it is important to have more depth in defense.

As replacement for Horcicka we got a big name (for us) from the UFA Market. The 26 year old norwegian national keeper Lars Haugen is now playing for us. Last season he played only 6 games for Dinamo Minsk.

And the new center in replacement for Faksa is the 29 year old Petr Taticek who was bought from Litvinov where he scored 25 points in 30 games last season. He played 3 games in the NHL and 191 games in the AHL where he also scored 79 points. His speed and endurance is great as is his teamwork. We believe he will be a good linemate for Zednik.
