How can I edit databases on an Apple Mac?

Post by domburmeister »

Hey everyone.

Long time player much like most people on these forums. After playing with the 06-07 rosters for about six years I finally found this forum and was able to upload new rosters. Thank you all for your excellent work. Since I have been playing with the new rosters I want to expand my game some more by updating my own data bases. The only issue is that I am not the most tech savvy person and I have a MAC which seems to delay things for me with this game.

After reading all of the posts about what people were able to do with this game, it leaves me jealous and wanting to do more with it.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks so much

Welcome to The Blue Line!

Using a Mac for editing EHM isn't going to be straightforward; but hopefully it is nonetheless possible. You've done well to even get EHM running on your Mac because I know there are various compatibility issues in the latest few versions of OS X.

The two main EHM editors are:
* The Pre-Game Editor
* The EHM Updater

Both of these need Windows to run. However, there is software that enables many Windows programmes to run on the Mac. There are two options that I'm aware of:
* CrossOver Mac - I use the Linux version to run Windows software on Ubuntu and can vouch for it being an easy to use solution. It does cost money, but there is a trial version which you can use to see if it'll work for the EHM editors.
* WinkSkin - This is free version which is based on a similar system to CrossOver's (they both run on a library named WINE).
