My girlfriend was quite sad last night when she asked how many Overtimes they go to in the playoffs...

Another good game by Montreal! Especially Bourque, wow, I guess he doesn't want to be traded this summer or buy out.
Crazy game between the Avs and the Wild thursday! Was so mad to missed it.
Tonight I'll watch it for sure. Go Avs!

Re: Official NHL 13-14 Playoffs Thread
Bruins should know better. Marchand and Lucic spent all game trying to goad the Wings into penalties, Wings didn't bite, and now Bruins have lost home ice.
I'm not a big Babcock fan but one thing he preaches and enforces is that his players do NOT get involved in that stuff, and to focus on playing, scoring, and winning. There is no need for a response.
Corey Perry did the same thing to someone last night as well, and I think it was Trevor Daley that soon after went apecrap on him in response after the whistle. Nobody likes Corey Perry.
Can also stick a fork in Tampa, they're apparently D-O-N-E. I know he just re-upped, but you gotta' wonder how much leash Yzerman actually has if they get swept here. It's been a suspect/curious makeup for the team all along, and Montreal is not a powerhouse to be drilling them like they are. Lindback's taken blame I know but from what I've watched and seen, Tampa has far deeper problems than just a goalie.

Yeah except from Stamkos their attack is not doing so well. Don't seem to be organized that much. Young guys like Johnson showed great things from time to time but I guess their inexperience in playoffs is showing now.

5000$ of fine for Lucic and 25 000$ for Quenneville because he grabbed his balls in front of a ref! LOL I need to see that.

Hawks did not won the StanLey Cup by chance, nice come back there. Game's not over though but it's pretty intense. Seabrook just sent Backes into the clouds.

Columbus is pretty bad. I really don't know how they made the playoffs.

Re: Official NHL 13-14 Playoffs Thread
They're so bad they even won yesterday and did a nice comeback. In the second period they dominated the Pens all period long.
The Avs played an amazing game yesterday! MacKinnon was UNREAL the whole game as well as Landeskog and Stastny. Nathan as now 7 pts in 2 games and he plays like he's been in the league for 8-10 years. That kid is amazing.

Re: Official NHL 13-14 Playoffs Thread
I was watching too and I would definitely not say they dominated the Pens. The Jackets basically sat back most of the game waiting/hoping for mistakes (including by Fleury). They had a few bursts here and there but... I still doubt their ability to extend the series more or win it.philou21 wrote:They're so bad they even won yesterday and did a nice comeback. Letang though, oy... he's kinda' still a wreck in his own end. He makes awful passing decisions, I swear he could just as easily be Kyle Quincey out there.
Hawks are in troooooooouble. They've twice now punched and counter-punched with St. Louis, and still lost both. I know they're going to CHI now but they have a lot to work on still. Toews looks like he did last year vs Detroit, with the mini meltdowns, and if Seabrook is out for a game or two now it's just going to continue to pile on.

Re: Official NHL 13-14 Playoffs Thread
I said they dominated the SECOND PERIOD not the whole game. Read more carefully next time please.
In the playoffs waiting for the right opportunity and the mistakes of your opponent to strike is one of the best strategy to win even if it's boring or doesn't look pretty. Jackets did not make the playoffs by chance. They have good players and good up-coming one too. Bobrovski is probably the main reason they're there now but still, they're in the playoffs so that proves something, they're not as bad as you think they are.Primis wrote:The Jackets basically sat back most of the game waiting/hoping for mistakes (including by Fleury).

It's a good strategy if you can win enough with it. I don't think CBS can win 4 out of 7 that way. They were close to getting blown off the ice in the 1st and the game being over. You can do a comeback like that once, but not usually more in 7 games. I don't think CBS has the defense or the scoring pop to do it. PIT has too much pop to be constantly playing catch-up to them and have it work out well for you. You need to take it to them more than that (I don't mean physically, I mean with pace and possession).philou21 wrote:In the playoffs waiting for the right opportunity and the mistakes of your opponent to strike is one of the best strategy to win even if it's boring or doesn't look pretty. Boston goaded Detroit today like they didn't in Game 1. It helped that the Bruins got the first gift goal from Howard's misplay so they felt they could be more free to play their style, with the early lead. Detroit had success with speed through the neutral zone again but didn't make good use of it. I'll be curious to see what happens next in Detroit. The Wings are awful in afternoon games so a lot of DET fans had Game 2 already written off as a loss. 3 an 4 are normal evening times, and a different locale. I'd say a split in Detroit is likely.

I don't think CBJ has the offense to win it. I think they have the defense and goaltending to. People often overlook the importance of a good offense to help a defense, I think the CBJ have 4/5 NHL calibre dmen.
Yeah I watched the Bruins/WIngs game before going hiking and I was super mad at that first goal
everyone makes mistakes but its one of the reasons I said before in the thread argument about Howard being a top 10 goalie, he can be but lets in too many easy goals to be hands down no argument top 10 goalie. Game 1 he showed it, game 2? negative. I actually thought the wings d was playing well this past month as well but today you saw bruins blow by them and getting out physically played in front of the net. The positive is the Wings did manage 35 shots on goal.

That's probably their main problem. If they had Horton it could help but the guy was injured most of the season and Johansen is amazing but the kid can't carry the team on his own.jesterx7769 wrote:I don't think CBJ has the offense to win it.

Yeah is goal was great. Minnesota dominated the game all long. I guess to be back home helped them a little bit for the mood, Avs weren't able to do anything. As usual though Cooke had to do something bad. darn Lidstrom, he was calm since a while.

Would be nice. At least he's gone for 5 games I guess since he has an audience. I'm so tired of that guy roaming around.

Re: Official NHL 13-14 Playoffs Thread
So Habs won in 4, wasn't expecting something like that to happen at the start of the serie. The fact Bishop wasn't there surely made a huge difference since Lindback has been AWFUL. Even that other kid from Poland was better, should have gone with him instead. Tampa Bay also had the most unexperienced team in the playoffs with 9 players who never played a single game before.
Kings already trailing 0-3. Wasn't expecting that as well. Quick as been awful so far, yesterday he had something like 7.60 GAA and .830%. At least he seems to have done better in the last game.
