Draft Day Trades

Post by Weirdness »

As I've got nothing else to do today, and since I'm watching the Draft on TV, I'll be reporting on any trades that take place during the Draft.

Yesterday:

Vancouver Canucks trade F Todd Bertuzzi, D Bryan Allen, & G Alex Auld to Florida Panthers for G Roberto Luongo, D Lukas Krajicek & 2006 6th round pick.

Today:

Atlanta Thrashers trade F Patrik Stefan & D Jaroslav Modry to Dallas Stars for Niko Kapanen & 2006 7th round pick.

Calgary Flames have traded D Jordan Leopold to Colorado Avalanche for F Alex Tanguay, 2nd round 2006 pick and conditional 2nd round pick in 2007 or 2008.

Minnesota Wild trades 2006 1st round pick (17th overall) & the rights to Patrick O'Sullivan to Los Angeles Kings for F Pavel Demitra.

Boston Bruins trades G Andrew Raycroft to Toronto Maple Leafs for the rights to G Tuukka Rask.

I love that trade Toronto made, Pogge is a much better prospect then Rask, and now they have a proven number one starter.

I think the Tanguay deal was interesting; but mainly due to the fact that it reminded me that there will be an interesting bit of team shiuffling/refocusing with so much turnover in the coaching and front-office ranks.

Now on to seeing how the chips fall with big-named potential free agents and the ripple effects that those players coming avaiable will make on their future teams as well as those they don't return to.

I can't wait 8-)

I also think the Tanguay trade is the most remarkable. :-k
what are the av's thinking??? sakic will play 10 more years???
they trade away their "young" proven playmaker with acceptable salary for his numbers!!!!!
they will darn the day this happens for years.
the flames got a huge upside on this trade. leopold is good, but their defense is deep (regehr, phaneuf), so they don't need him as much as they need playmaking.
i'd wish the devils would have got him

I was very surprised by that Rask-Raycroft deal. Didn't know Rask's value was that low.
