Re: Challenge #33 - Pittsburgh Penguins - Discussion Thread
I've just got to say, my new favorite player name is Chalupa! Our Penguins team has a winger named Vladimir Chalupa. He's a 29 year old winger from the Czech Republic. I don't know if Chalupa is a common name in Czech or if it means something in Czech but here in the US it's the name of an item sold at Taco Bell. It's like this fried bread that's used like a taco shell. Even though I can't remember the last time I ate at a Taco Bell, I remember liking Chalupas.

I remember Czech defenseman Milan Chalupa from the 1976 Canada Cup...I've never had a chalupa at Taco Bell! HaHa

Re: Challenge #33 -Pittsburgh Penguins!
Can you guys post this version of the roster update? It sounds very interesting.I used a modified version of the TBL Rosters 6.3 in which Manimal has adjusted the salaries to match the salary cap EHM originally had. This seems to allow the finances to work better and not throw thing out of whack like we saw in the Bruins challenge.

There are some errors in the db, salarywise. It is really a work-in-progress but it was good enough to start a future challenge with.onemoreastronaut wrote: Can you guys post this version of the roster update? It sounds very interesting.
We could probably upload it if more would like it

Re: Challenge #33 - Pittsburgh Penguins - Discussion Thread
I just realised there are a big number of NHLers that got their contracts set to zero. It was an error with my spreadsheet-importing.
I do not have the time to fix this

So is this pretty much void then with contract issues? I was atleast going to DL the save game and check it out

I'd think the NHL contracts set to 0 would affect things at start-up, but not 15 years later when the saved game starts...jesterx7769 wrote:So is this pretty much void then with contract issues? I was atleast going to DL the save game and check it out

Re: Challenge #33 - Pittsburgh Penguins - Discussion Thread
Exactly. Those contracts should be gone now. I don't see how it affects things at the point this save is at.
So is anybody else playing this challenge? I know I've been busy and haven't gotten very far yet but I do plan on playing it more. Anyone else? Any favorite players yet? Any that frustrate you?

So, how long until I can fire my HC? Any time? So long as I hire someone who has been a part of the Penguins for 6 months?

Yup. You can fire him at the 6 month point and hire someone who has been on your staff for 6 months.

OK, so I never took the screens for the end of Season 1, I have all sorts of screens though, but none showing my roster and such. What should I do? I played by the rules and can send my save file to whatever, just let me know please.

You don't have any older saves from where you might be able to get your screenshots?

I would just like to point out that V. Boyko is awesome. I remember in the Tampa Bay challenge I drafted him in the 7th round and in his rookie season he was great for me. Its interesting to see that in another save he still develops into a 1st line centre.

Re: Challenge #33 - Pittsburgh Penguins - Discussion Thread
Yeah, he is pretty good. I've drafted him a couple times before but never played long enough to use him. The hunny thing is, in this challenge, my best scouts still say he's a 3rd line center at best. I had him as #2 behind Repkin.

Re: Challenge #33 - Pittsburgh Penguins - Discussion Thread
I also get the 3rd line centre scouting report. I originally had him as number 2 behind Repkin as well but he just kept scoring forcing me to put him on the top line. Just finished my first season and got a 91 point effort from him plus an average 8.5 rating.
Hell of a 3rd liner.
Hell of a 3rd liner.

ADDITIONAL : This #33 starts at 1/05 BUT in RULES branch it is written that SEASON IS 01/07-30/06
SO what you can tell about which season is 1st?
or in #33 SEASON should be 1/05-30/04?????
or 1/05/29-30/06/30 and then as usual?
or whatever????

Yeah, I agree with Totch. I really don't like the racist and homophobic talk. We're a friendly community here and there's no need for that.
