I don't understand how the salary cap chart works during the off season.
In my game, the game accounts for the 23 highest salary in my team for counts, except an European player who joined my team during that same off season. Therefore I am 4.5 M$ over the cap. However if I calculate the salaries of my projected starting lineup, I would be about 5 M$ under the cap. Which will be reflected properly when the season starts.
So basically the way the chart is set up just during the off season prevents from signing stars UFA's who are asking lots of money because the team board restricts the maximum salary per year allowed for the player (which is less than what the player is asking for).
Anyone understands the way the game choose which players counts during the off season, is it always the 23 highest salaries ? Any ideas on how to get to sign those players who cost more ? Knowing that when the season will start, the team will be under the cap.
thks

Re: Off Season Salary cap
Off season in EHM 2007 it was the 24 highest salaried guys on the team for whatever reason....so I would think the same now. Would not worry about it, just be sure you have guys who fit under the cap when Oct 1 rolls around

Re: Off Season Salary cap
You are probably right. It is just a pain not being able to give the money some players are asking for and would put you under the cap comes season time. In my game it is the 23rd highest and it skipped an International player who joined my team in the summer. Not sure exactly why

Sometimes it happens. But if you ask board for more $ should be fine moving forward. weird things happen sometimes.

Re: Off Season Salary cap
Yes you can but that will only help you to sign more players overall, to be assigned to you minor clubs (AHL or ECHL if you play in the NHL). You still have to comply with the league salary cap.

The board will still not allow you to sign players if they see you are near the cap.

Re: Off Season Salary cap
Good on the board. Finally someone in the NHL is showing fiscal responsibility. YOu should not be able to sign studs but a small contract you should be able to handle. So minor tweaks there are needed. IN real life NHL teams allowed 10% over the cap in the summer, and use the same rules as EHM for calculating the cap. So..... there you go.
