I just got signed Ryan O'reilly from Avalanche for 7 years contract worth 5.5mil per season and the main problem is Iosing my 1st, 2nd & 3rd rounder in exchange of offer sheet trade..
Izit possible or just a bug? well why some of player of RFA just cost 3rd round but this guy cost me alot..
Really hate those trade..my mistake not to check the offer first..

Re: Star RFA signing
Maybe this will help:
According to the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement, here’s how teams will be compensated if they lose an RFA:
•If average salary is for $1,110,249 or below, no compensation is owed.
•Up to $1,682,194, a third-round pick in the next draft;
•To $3,364,391, a second-round pick in the next draft;
•To $5,046,585: first rounder and third rounder in the next draft
•To $6,728,781: first-, second- and third-rounder in the next draft
•To $8,410,976 : two firsts, a second-rounder and a third-rounder, drawn from two of the next three drafts
•Over $8,410,976: Four first-rounders over the next four drafts
So yes, because you signed him to a $5.5 million contract, you do lose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounder in the next draft.

Re: Star RFA signing
As above, there are set limits for RFA's based on the salary offered which determine the pick(s) you will lose. Save them somewhere.
You won't regret it when you shave 10k off a contract and you're giving up a 2nd instead of a 1st and 3rd. Although so far I've found most of my own RFA's don't get picked up and take it to arbitration.
IIRC in reality offer sheets are rarely used but on the game they seem to happen a lot. I've noticed virtually everyone here gets Yakupov as the Oilers let him go early. Not bad for a 2nd, I got more for Korpikowski!

When you submit the contract offer you are warned how many picks you'll forfeit you should have honestly seen that.riazorblues86 wrote:Really hate those trade..my mistake not to check the offer first..

Re: Star RFA signing
Does it say that on the offer sheet? Can't say I noticed anything either and I was expecting to see the picks listed! Looked around the page but didn't notice anything just a normal contract offer. Although a week later the confirmation for the transfer popped up and it told me what pick I'd lose.mpronger wrote:When you submit the contract offer you are warned how many picks you'll forfeit you should have honestly seen that.riazorblues86 wrote:Really hate those trade..my mistake not to check the offer first..
Might have to try some more tonight as I'm in the off-season.

Not on the offer sheet itself. After you send an offer sheet you'll receive a confirmation dialog with this info. You probably selected "Yes" without even reading itlemming3k wrote:Does it say that on the offer sheet? Can't say I noticed anything either and I was expecting to see the picks listed! Correct! I'm so used to clicking through those dialogs I didn't notice it.mpronger wrote:

Clearly not the only one but I suppose they can't do it differently unless they have a dynamic offer sheet that adjusts the picks as change the offer. That would be clearer but very awkward to implement.
Are the thresholds posted in game btw? Obviously a few of us have looked them up but they should be in there, and they should adjust (like the salary cap should!) - that'd be awesome.
