Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
Good luck with that one!
There's an interesting video of his very brief time in Slovakia where he was massively drunk and got involved in a bar fight (and arrested and then sacked)...

I think he will be a good signing for them.

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
I'm far from convinced he will be. We've seen it before, when a player comes over here after playing in the NHL etc, and they just don't have the motivation to play and come for the paycheck. If a player is good, but not quite good enough for the NHL, they tend to do well in the bigger leagues in Europe, this guy hasn't, with three teams in different countries last season for a total of less than 40 games. He's a guy in a major decline and what Archi said about the barfight, strikes me as a guy who doesn't take his career seriously.MWE wrote:I think he will be a good signing for them.
I could be wrong, and he turns up and does well for Nottingham, but it wouldn't shock me if he is terrible. This isn't the league that it was 10 years ago, there's some genuinely good talent in it who work hard, guys who come for the money and don't offer anything on the ice get sniffed out pretty quick.

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
My thinking is, he is now at the bottom of the ladder it can't get much worse for him now surely that's either going to be a wake up call for him. I'm hoping he doesn't do well 'cos it's Nottingham but I have a feeling he will do wellMontySteelers wrote:I'm far from convinced he will be. Lizon however I don't think he will be much good for them.

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
Exactly my thoughts. I see him lasting a couple of months and doing little more than serving suspensions.MontySteelers wrote:I'm far from convinced he will be. Interesting signings by Nottingham. They seem to be gooning it up somewhat.

If we 'goon up' with Lizon and Peckham (Dimmen has a rep as being a bit of a hardman too), then it'll be interesting to see what talent comes in offensively now.archibalduk wrote:Exactly my thoughts. Steelers have signed Levi Nelson
He was playing in Italy no long back and averaged over a point a game I hope for the same for this season.

Rob Wilson coached Levi in Italy, says he is a hard working rinkrat, which we love in Sheffield!
Just booked my flights to Gothenburg to go and see Steelers v Frolunda in the CHL, can't wait!

Nice! I hope you enjoy the trip. (Although I fear after Nottingham's experience last year that the game might be rather one-sided).

I really want to go to some of the CHL games, but I'm not 100% sure yet.
Sheffield and Nottingham looking pretty good so far, as do Belfast. I also like Edinburgh's & Hull's tactic of signing young guys from college, but they might be lacking in quality a little bit.

Oh yeah we will get smashed, but will be a great experience watching Steelers against a team like Frolunda.archibalduk wrote:Nice! I hope you enjoy the trip. (Although I fear after Nottingham's experience last year that the game might be rather one-sided).
I wanted to go to Jyvaskyla too, but couldn't get more time off work

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
So, two fans forums tonight, one ran by Planet Ice/Silverblades apparently showing evidence of the Phoenix owners swindling money from the juniors and next season's plans for hockey team at Altrincham. One ran by the Phoenix owners, outlining next season's plans (playing out of Deeside by the sounds of it).
I am sure that by the end of the night, no one will be an wiser as to the rights/wrongs of the situation and the bickering will continue over on THF

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
It really does show British hockey at its worst. These are supposed to be two professional organisations yet here they are posting wild allegations on an internet forum.Calv wrote:So, two fans forums tonight, one ran by Planet Ice/Silverblades apparently showing evidence of the Phoenix owners swindling money from the juniors and next season's plans for hockey team at Altrincham. As for THF - I really dislike the place now. I frequently check it because it's such a great source of rumours and news but it's just an awful place with a significant number of unpleasant people.

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
Agreed about THF, any thread that's over 1 or 2 pages isn't worth it, usually just circulacircular arguments that go round and round.
Not much news coming out of either forum so far, sounds like phoenix might be playing somewhere....!

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
Apparently an 80% chance of a rink in Manchester within 4 or 5 weeks time. If not then Deeside.
Apparently definitely a tenth EPL team next season. I wonder where...

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2015-2016
The official EPIHL twitter account says no new team next season, maybe the following season. Farcical!
Not many details from the other forum, other than £35,000 of ice time allegedly hasn't been paid!
