Camps began this Friday and the first preseason games are today!! Including an interesting game which features Phoenix going back to Winnipeg!
Any Camp/Preseason news and comments should stay in this thread
Unfortunately my Hawks have already wracked up two big injuries which make me thinking back to last year's injury parade... Lalime (who I disagree with signing anyway) is out with surgery but the one that really bums me out is a recurrance of Cam Barker's ankle injury that cut his season short last year and will now have him missing camp. I really wanted to see him out there
As mentioned in my other thread, TSN has a cool feature called Ice Chips which is a quick few sentance recaps of various news around the whole league, its a great daily check:
And on ESPN Scott Burnside has some really good stuff to get you acclimated to 2006-07. Fantasy players of course should be spending this time filing away little nuggets that may affect your player news, such as Keith Tkatchuk coming to came 30 lbs lighter than last year when he was kicked out of Camp for being overwight and failing his physical.
I'm looking foward to the Leafs camps. With two defense spots open, and 4-5 candidates fighting for the spots, it will be an interesting few weeks.
The front runner so far is Staffan Kronwall. It was believed Collicavo was going to take the other spot, but he clearly hasn't fully recovered from the concusion he suffered back in January. He had to be helped off the ice after 'feeling woozy' during a mid-day skate yesterday.
The other combattants are Ian White, Brandan Bell and Andy Wozniueski.
Good news on Koivu, was hardly bothered by his eye. Considering the damage that was done and the ensuing surgery, things could have been a lot worse for him. Hopefully he can make it through the full season without having to worry about the cataract.

So no reason to panic!!!
yet!!!
Last night the Bruins played Montreal (they're playing again tonight, IIRC) and won 5-2. Savard didn't play again but Kessel and Chara did. Kessel assisted on a couple of powerplay goals. Chara scored one. Sturm scored a couple. It wasn't televised that I know of. I just read about it. Sounded like a good game though.
Yeah I saw we won 5-2 also. A better result for us. We are playing Montreal tonight. It is good witht he mac. Bring up the dashboard and have the fixtures right in front of you
October 4th is the next date in the calendar to be pointed out....after Sept. 22nd and EHM07
Thing is that if my memory doesnt fail, I think we (the B's) will start with 5 away games again.....would be interesting if we can win at least two or three of them!!!
Zdeno Chara (PP), Jeff Hogan and Brad Boyes (emptey net) scored for us.
Chara also went of injured wth a Left foot injury.
The local papers said Chara walking around fine after the game. He should be okay but they're going to do x-rays back in Boston today.
Coach Dave Lewis commented on Chara trying to block that slapper (he was stickless, so he stepped out in front of it and sacrificed his body). He said that set a standard that the rest of the team has to live up to now. He said Chara was willing to do that in the preseason when he probably could've gotten away with no risking it. He said he expects the rest of the team to follow that example and be that dedicated. After hearing this, I'm almost positive Chara will be named captain.

They schedule the Bruins this way every year because the circus is in town. They used to play 1 or 2 games at home and then hit the road for a week or two. Lately they've started on the road. I know I've always hated the annual west coast road trip because the games don't start until 10 PM or so. It's so early in the season and I'm dying to watch them but I can't stay up for the whole game or I'll never wake up on time for work.
The Hawks have their own 'Circus Roadtrip' around Thanksgiving usually that is always the longest raod trip of the year and often a make-or-break portion of the season too. Who knew the Circus had such an effect on the NHL?
Eastern Conference teams starting with long road trips? Bruins have what 5 games?
Canucks start the season with 11 of first 15 on the road. And there is no apparent reason for that. Ick.
I'll go 4-1 on that game. I don't think the Islanders are that good. Chara has got the rest of the Bruins motivated after last game. It should be a good one. Too bad it's not on TV. I could be watching the game while playing EHM 2007.
