Would you like to cap player ice-time during non-overtime playoff games?

Yes, I would like limitations on player ice-time.

No, player ice-time should not be limited.

Playoff player ice-time limits

Post by Midas »

Discuss, POs only not regular season.

There's merit to limiting ice-time to NBHL rules (24 forwards/30 defense, no OTs, players over twice in a series get suspended for one and every one after the infraction) in the POs. It worked well, forces you to ice four lines, is in the spirit of the game, and there were exceptions for in-game injuries (waived the rule). Were the rules up, Rehák and Eagles on my squad went over once each, would suck to lose one but I gotta be more careful with my lines.

However, it's also annoying to enforce, and probably not that big of a deal. Going over 30 puts you at risk of injury and nets you a lot of scorn. Hasn't really been a problem. Also, kind of favours teams who run 4 lines as opposed to strong 1-line teams. May also unfairly penalize teams who end up with lots of PMs (feel like that's a fair concession), but we could create exceptions similar to injuries for that as well.
