Player attributes dropping not increasing

Post by nimitz »

I have 20 21 and 24 that I have decided to track since the beginning of the season. I followed the guide here in the forums. no coach has more then 4 areas some have only one or 2. All my coaches have high stats in Determination and Man Management and the areas they are teaching. Yet all the players I am tracking are only droping in stats. I am only 2 and a half months into the season thou here is how I started.

General all players Aug 15th-September 15th
All Defenders on Fitness Sept 16th-November 1st
All Forwards on skating Sept 16th-Nocember 1st

Today is November 1st and I have switched all players to the recomeded areas the scout said they needed Improvement on.

all 3 players play on the first line,

Hello!

A couple of notes from a so-so GM:
1. Some players do just drop. I'm not sure if that's a PA (Potential Ability) vs. CA (Current Ability) think where they start out stronger than their long term potential, so just the way the game is. (I'm my 2006 Penguins game that's Michell Ouelett, and he was playing first line with Crosby for two years, but his attributes went down).
2. Remember, the guides here are not automatically going to work for every single case. It would be more interesting to see if ALL your players are going down, or if most are going up and just a couple of cases go down.
3. It has been said that players need to play at the right level to grow- some people believe young players shouldn't even be in the NHL until they are 23 or 24- it's possible that you've 'rushed' those guys to too high a level and that's what's stunting their growth.

Hopefully that helps, and I'm sure more experienced folks have some additional or different perspectives.

I've seen that too. As Asher said, some players decline, while others improve. And I think that's a good thing. Perhaps you should review their practice schedule, if it worries you.

This seems to be quite true. I'm a bit 50/50 if that is a good thing. Playing with Panthers, my scouts had Matheson (defenseman) as a 5* potential. Played him in my 3rd (I think it was. maybe 4th) season on the top line with Ekblad. He had a very, very good year. But he never grew. He is now 26 and not growing, I had a peek in the scout program and yeah he is still not reaching his potential. And my scouts now have him at 3*. So my guess he will never fullfill his potential cause I played him with top line minutes, even though he played really great.

I actually think a player should grow, maybe even quicker, if they do good...no matter the role he should/is playing on the team. If insisting on 1st line even though he plays badly, yeah that should affect him in a negative way. But I'm not sure if that could depend on other things, like one of the "hidden attributes"? Cause a center I have, he is only 21-22 and has already reached his peak, alternating between 1st, 2nd AND 3rd line. While someone like Crouse, doing much the same, seems stuck in his growth despite playing pretty good as well.

In real life it is different for every single player there is. You only have to look no further than real life to see that.

1. RNH-Decent rookie year, injured, decent sophomore year, injured. Decent third year and now...well just scored first game in 12 goals. Really not any better than he was.
2. Justin Schultz--same story as RNH minus injury.
3. Taylor Hall--same story, although seems to be getting better now.
4. But.....Leon Draisaitl? Hmmmm....
5 Jonathan Toews, Patrick KAne---are the other side. The good side. Drew Doughty.

Too early to tell with those 4 completely, but IRL they seem to have been pushed to early in many cases.

Van-BO Horvat right now. Not getting any better, in fact has taken a step back. (Funny thing here...same thing happened in the game I am playing in EHM with the Bruins....he is brutal in year 3 and 4 in the NHL>)
