News of the next patch

Here's a list of the actual modifications the next patch will have. Remember it's only what is already done, and other SI guys are still working on other things.

That list is looking good. I sure hope they can get the assist problem resolved as well as the high shot totals. Has anyone seen any info concerning the AI's love of 4th round draft picks? In my current test league, I saw the AI offer a 4th round pick for Chris Pronger. Thankfully another team stepped up and made a better offer, but the fact that this potential trade was reported worries me.

I don't think that the deal of a 4th round for Pronger would have conclude. Or maybe if the team that owns Pronger is far over the cap and need to quickly be back under... If so,they should accept to trade for a 4th round if they don't have other propositions. But,as you have seen, other teams step up the offer. ;)

For the assist problem,i'm nearly sure that they will solve it for the patch.

For the too many shots issue,i really hope they will correct it,but i don't know how hard it is to correct it... If not too hard,it will certainly be in the patch. But if they have to re-code half of the game to solve this issue,it might more likely be tweaked for ehm08...

I know very little about programming, but I really can't see how it could be hard. Just slowing the game down (that is, putting about 3/4 of the current events/possible events in each period) would take care of it, and it would help with the excessive number of penalties dealt out as well. I usually have fairly realistic shot totals after about 45 minutes of hockey, it's the last 15 minutes that throw the shot count all out of whack.

I think it's fairly straightforward to decrease the number of shots on goal. From my experience in testing, the SI team would always tweak things like that. The danger is what consequences tweaking the shots on goal has on other aspects of games.

That's why i thought it would be hard to change. I was mainly thinking about all the possible consequences that will have to be checked. It's useless to correct one area of the game in a patch if it leads to more problems...

The assists problem just need a better code, without (as far as i know) any consequence in other areas of the game,so it's 'easy' to do. That's not the same for the shots...

The big problem with the "too many shots" thing is that then has to not only not send scoring out of whack, but it also has to be effective in all of the game's leagues all of which are all tweaked individually for league differences in scoring and type of play etc. so it actually is a huge thing as it calls for every league in the game to be changed and then retested individually or people will say "Teams don't shoot or score enough in the Icelandic Pre-Kindergarten Girls Leagues now! I'm never buying another SI program again!" :-p

So now it's sure, the shots issue won't be fixed on this patch, unless SI makes a (new) miracle! Not a problem for me. They have a lot of job to do to make this game perfect, and they advance by huge steps! I'm sure this issue will be fixed for the 08 version.
And well,i prefer that they fix the crashes that remain...it's really more annoying than this shots issue IMO.
