Stamkos as a free agent after season 1?

Post by Samperino »

Hi everyone,

In my game, after the first season, Steven Stamkos is available as a free agent. Is that normal ? I mean in real life he would never be a free agent....

Have a great night !

Isn't he 40 days away from becoming a free agent in real life? :-D

Mhm, and if I was the Lightning I'd let it be. They need the money for a ton of other guys.

The whole idea of the rising Cap is simply not true...in recent years players are paying back way more every year than the Cap goes up (players are giving back more than double the amount the Cap's been going up http://www.tsn.ca/nhl-union-set-escrow- ... t-1.374417)...as with all but one year since the Cap came into being, the only way the Cap goes up for next year is if the players trigger the "escalator clause" and if they don't the Cap won't go up at all! and when you factor in escrow it really means a reduction!

I think the huge contract days are done for the foreseeable future (I'll be very surprised if Stamkos sets a new salary ceiling)

Wouldn't it be great if the Panthers signed him? :)

I've seen him wind up on quite a few different teams when I go play. Seen him go back to Tampa, Toronto, Dallas, Florida, Buffalo and Montreal. Seems like he favors the East in this game.

I got him to come to Arizona, and in a different save he went to Arizona all by himself.

I got him on 6y/47m deal to the Oilers. Since he said IRL that McDavid is better than him, I figured he'll be happy to play with that guy. :-D

It sounds like this is a common problem with the game.

Why would it be a problem?

When you google Tampa Bay and Salary Cap you get multiple articles from this summer noting the difficulties they're in as a result of resigning Stamkos https://www.google.ca/#q=tampa+bay+ligh ... ap&tbm=nws

This one notes them as now having the worst Salary Cap situation in the NHL http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2653 ... cap-issues

How quickly (40 days) we forget that he actually did reject Tampa's offers and become a UFA... then resigned with Tampa. The Vegas odds were even against him coming back.

I guess Yzerman's other signings and the Florida tax convinced Stamkos.

I thought he re-signed a couple of days before he hit the UFA market? Maybe I'm wrong though, swear I saw the news on 29/6.
