My Sharks Team

Post by sjsharkz »

Hey all well i purchased EHM 07 and yes im addicted it is truly an awesome game i love it. Anyway what im here for is to tell you about my Sharks team.
I'm now about 15 games into my 3rd season.
First Season my lines where really similar to Ron Wilsons lines now.
First year:
McLaren/Carle Bell/Thornton/Cheechoo
Vlasic/Hannan Michalek/Marleau/Bernier
Gorges/Ehrhoff Niemenen/Brown/Grier
Kaspar/Goc/Smith

As you can see quite young defensively, but i wanted to develop them, and even when times were tough i stuck with them and showed faith. I finished 4th in the West that year and got knocked out in the first round of the play offs in 5 games, as you may know i conceeded a few too many goals, but i knew thats what would happen. Incredibly Vlasic lead my assists with 79 in 82 games...impressive when u look at his attributes, Kaspar scored 30 odd and Bell scored 49 to lead my team, so the future was bright.

In the off season i aquired Wayne Redden for a prospect and 2 3rd round picks and a 4th round pick, i was really happy with that as he would help the development of my young blue liners and well he's Wayne Redden..who wouldn't want him. Also Nabokov wanted a new challenge but i made him stay.
Second Year:

Redden/Ehrhoff Bell/Thornton/Setegouchi
Vlasic/Hannan Michalek/Marleau/Cheechoo
McLaren/Carle Kaspar/Brown/Grier
Smith/Goc/Bernier

As you can see slightly different with Setegouchi on the top line, i promoted him there as cheechoo didnt score as much as i thought the year before and setegouchi was strong in training camp, and warm up games. Well I won the presidents trophy on 112 points, defence was alot stronger amazingly Vlasic still raked in the assists again, and Setegouchi scored 40 odd goals and eventually won the trophy for best rookie. Half way through the season i aquired Lehtonen from Atlanta for Gorges and a prospect and a 2nd round pick, which then allowed me to trade Nabokov who went to Toronto for a good prospect.
I swept my first playoff series 4-0 against the Wild, i was down 3-0 in the next series against Vancouver and then decided to go for broke and put Toskala in for the rest of the series, i won the series 4-3, next series i put Lehtonen back in and was playing Nashville i swept that 4-0. Stanley Cup!! Against Carolina, I lost the first 3 games and well almost conceeded defeat so i put Toskala back in net and he virtually won me the next 3 games, and i did a brave thing and put Lehtonen back in for the decider, i won 7-1. It was awesome....with a relatively young team i was suprised that i got that far and came back from 3-0 twice.
Off season i aquired Dany Heatley as he was a free agent, i was happy to get him as i was chasing him for the previous 2 seasons and thats all i think i needed, as my other "younger" players were developing really well Michalek is lookin really good and had 89 points last season, Vlasic/Carle/Ehrhoff are startin to find a bit of consitancy and atributes r improving, Bernier is coming along slowly, Goc is progressing slowly, Kaspar and Setegouchi are turning into prolific scorers, Cheech is still quite disapointing, ive tinkered with his tactics swapped lines, he puts up decent numbers, but he can do alot better.

My team looks a little different lines wise this season

Redden/Ehrhoff Heatley/Thornton/Cheechoo
Vlasic/Hannan Michalek/Marleau/Setegouchi
McLaren/Carle Bell/Brown/Grier
Kaspar/Goc/Bernier

A little different as im using Bell on the PK instead of PP now, and Kaspar Marleau Setegouchi on my 2nd pp line and Heatley Thornton Michalek on my first PP line..has worked well so far.
Well thats a big read sorry guys, just wanted to let you know how an Aussie is doin on this game as im a big Sharks fan, so anything you want to input or suggest id love to hear your comments

Thanks
Tim

I have to say...Cheechoo in this game, is brutal. I have him on my Sabres team. He is slow, coughs up the puck everywhere, can't shoot, and once every 5 games scores whether I need him too or not. I have kept hoping, and been patient, but 1/2 way through year 2...He is on the block.
